On Wednesday June 12, the last official event at the Relay Weekend track took place. Officially, it was known as the "Wrap-Up Party." And people were gathering at RFL Research
Before long, the sim, and the adjacent one of RFL Solidarity, began to rise with water. Thankfully most were in swimming wear, and often had floaties.
Because the sims were so crowded, many who tried couldn't get in. Thankfully the event was streamed live on Youtube, and the recording made available as a video to see anytime.
People had been asked to take down their camps on Thursday. But already after the party, people were already dismantling their builds before "Takedown Day" had started.
Dropping by Thursday, I saw that a number of track sims had shut down. Except for RFL Survivor, which was next to two of the three permanent American Cancer Society sims, I couldn't get to those I tried to.
And so, a great Relay Weekend has come to a close. For most teams, this means the end of fundraising. But this is not the end of the season. There is one more notable event: the Royal Ascot, and the season doesn't officially end until the end of the month. But the Relayers are not despairing. Some are looking forward to the Fandom Con next month and the Renissance Festival for Strides in fall. And of course there's the 2025 season starting in February next year.
Go Relay!
