KZK Avatars Celebrates Twelve Years

Yesterday, Wednesday August 15, was the twelfth anniversary of a popular brand of furry avatar: Kinzart Productions, often called Kinzart Kreetures or KZK. The event went from 3-5PM SL time, and attracted a large crowd, with 64 people in the sim at one point.

Becky Nosferatu of Montecito Bay was the DJ for the packed event, despite a few technical difficulties, she persisted and the crowd was patient for her. At the end of the two hours, she spoke to the crowd, saying she'd been in Second Life for years and had enjoyed every avatar she'd gotten from the "talented artists," her current avatar being a modified KZK, "It's been an honor ot be your DJ tonight  ...get it through ... all your happy customers. I hope to see you again soon, fantastic party indeed. Rock on guys!"

Second Life Enquirer Turns 12

A couple days ago on May 9, The publication Second Life Enquirer celebrated their twelfth anniversary. It was also the rezzday of it's founder and owner Lanai Jarrico. Having gotten her start in the now closed "The Sims Online" virtual world, she came to Second Life to write about goings on here. In a 2015 interview, she described her paper as being more entertainment-oriented while the Newser was more news-focused.

Rather than being the arch-rivals the SL Herald and the SL Newspaper were, the two publications have more or less cooperated, such as when Lanai requested that yours truly take a picture of her at a 2014 jail and bail and let me make a cartoon out of it, and today's article on Net Neutrality being on the line.

No doubt she and her writers will be continuing for a while.

Happy Anniversary SL Enquirer

Transylvania Celebrates Twelfth Anniversary

Friday August 12 was the twelfth anniversary of the Transylvania sim. Parties had been going on all week, but Friday was the big day, or rather the big night. Residents or all sorts came by, vampires, weres, and normal humans in both dark outfits and regular clothes. Hopefully the latter brought plenty of garlic.

There was a birthday cake in the own square, as well as a number of fang emblem balloons for the anniversary, or the "fangsgiving" as someone called it. While there were plenty of vampires, there were no sightings of vampire bats, this time. Not one tried to give this fox reporter a hickey.

Vampire fans have been a part of Second Life for most of it's history. They do have an iffy reputation among some due to the "Bloodlines" game, but the vampires themselves look down on those who abuse it, calling them "leeches." While Transylvania is not the only vamp area, it is the oldest and best known one.

The real Transylvania had no vampires of course, though it is noted for Gothic architecture. It should be noted that Vlad Tepes, the inspiration for the character Count Dracula, was not from Transylvania, but what is now southern Romania. Perhaps Transylvania sounded spookier than Wallachia. But the name of the place has become so linked to vampires, no one is trying to "suck" the fun from fans of the undead.
