Cartoon of The Day: "The Funk of Forty Thousand Years"

 

 Taken at the Happy Vixen. The dialouge's based off chatter between Umbra Gardenvale and DJ Khyra. For those who don't know "The funk of forty thousand years" is a line from Vincent Price in Michael Jackson's "Thriller." But other things can give off a funk, some of it just seems as bad.

Interview With DJ Khyra Ares

Some clubs consider Mondays to be a day not to bother opening up their doors. Not so the Happy Vixen, which has held events on this day of the week for a while. Playing the music for these parties is Khyra Ares, aka DJ Khyra or "The Dazzlecat DJ." Deaflegacy recently interviewed the lady tigress DJ with the unique fur pattern about how she came to Second Life, and her plans.

Team Sunbeamers Raises 10,000 Lindens at "Rave For Relay"

On Monday April 30, Relay for Life Team Sunbeamers held their first party of the Relay season. Called "Rave for Relay," or "Rave for Life" as DJ Khyra called it, the event had a raver theme, with people wearing glowsticks, particle effects, or glowing clothes and sometimes glowing hair. As this was a charity event, there were no tip jars out. All money given went into the Sunbeamer's kiosk.

The event lasted for four hours, with the "Dazzlecat DJ" as Khyra is sometimes called playing from 5 to 7PM SL time. From 7 to 9PM, DJ Snowbuns spun the tunes. With all of the lights, the place was best viewed at Midnight. Among those stopping by were Happy Vixen owner Nydia Tungsten and Sunbeamer team leader Rita Mariner. Although most of those showing up were from the hosting team, and other regulars of "The Vix," several Relayers from other teams stopped by, or sent cash to the "beamers" to put in the kiosk. For the first hour, only a few hundred went into the kiosk. Then more cash came in. By the end of the four hour event, a total of ten thousand Linden dollars had been raised.

There was also a contest for the best raver look. It was won by Valkyrie "Ice" McGill.

As of now, Team Sumbeamers has raised over 276,000 Lindens. Less than 100,000 Lindens remains until the next fundraising level, Jade, to which yours truly has pledged to go green for a week when met. There are also three "Bid Me" events going on, of which 4500 has been raised so far, of which the totals will be determined 8PM Friday.

Announcement: Rave For Relay Tonight

Team Sunbeamers has it's first event this season with "Rave For Relay." Come to the Happy Vixen beach club for a four hour event. The theme is rave, so get your glowsticks and dance to the tunes. The talented DJ Snowbuns and the dazzling DJ Khyra provide the music. Donations to the Relay kiosk will be made in lieu of tips. There's also a contest for the best dressed in theme.

Today 5-9PM SL time.

Halloween Bash at the Happy Vixen Tonight

If you've just come back to the house after taking the kids Trick or Treating, or maybe looking for something to do between answering the kids knocking on the door, or just simply looking for Halloween fun? Then join DJ Khyra, the "Dazzlecat DJ," tonight as she plays EDM and other tunes.

The party is scheduled to start 7PM, but may start sooner if the DJ shows up early. The music should go on to 11 SL time, but will probably go on longer. The best costume gets 500 Linden dollars.
