Announcement: Memorial Poetry Reading For Zaphara Cazalet

This FRIDAY at 1 pm SLT, Team Strange Journeys will be hosting a Memorial Poetry Reading for our teammate, friend and family member Zaphara Cazalet who passed away suddenly. We will hold the poetry reading in the castle that she designed last year. We will have kiosks out. We have three of Zaphara's passions- Relay for Life, building, and poetry- all in one night. Zaphara Cazalet, Member of RFL Team Strange Journeys, Dies

While yesterday's Kickoff event for the Relay for Life season brought many cheers, there was one moment of sadness. It was announced that Zaphara Cazalet, one of the members of Team Strange Journeys, had passed away.

It saddens me deeply to tell you all that Zaphara Cazalet, beloved member of the Strange Family and TSJ team (and Teletus Titans before that), has passed away.

We love her for her love of poetry, her commitment to the Castle Contest- she was working on her castle, almost completed, for this year-- and her sheer passion and loyalty to Relay for Life.

We love you Zaphara!

Kaiila Mahoney had this to say, "he had been my co captain for my first 5 years.. she loved to build and helping Row made so much sense.. she lived for Relay and building.. I talked to her sister just a few ago.. She passed away helping her father in his wheel chair she collapsed in his arms.. They believe it might have been an embolism.. She was his caregiver."

Rowena Dubrovna informed Zaphara had been working on something, "I feel awful, she was almost done with her castle, I know she worked hard on it, she was so proud of it."

I have named the my build Castle Cazalet. It is constructed in the distant future around 2900. There are 4 levels The inhabitants love things from the past, thus the decor is from the past. The outer hull consists of solar coating which powers the castle. From within the castle almost all the rooms you can see out over the area. I built with the idea of peace and tranquility in mind. Free of the ravages of our world, meaning for one that cancer no longer exists. I Relay for the family members and friends I have lost to cancer and those who continue to battle cancer.

And so the Relay begins without one of it's members. But her final work, her castle, will be up for display.

Memorial For Riko Kamachi

When someone departs Second Life, if often goes unnoticed. Sometimes his or her friends wonder what happened, but without information, there's not much else that can be done. When it's know a resident has died, sometimes the residents hold a memorial event in their honor, such as the remembrance and dance recently held for Shady Fox. In the case of Vickie Maidstone's friend Riko Kamachi, her response was to build a memorial shrine in her memory. She recently contacted the Newser about her work.

A Busy Weekend

With the Relay Walk over, some might expect that this weekend would have nothing going on. That was not the case. There continued to be Relay events after the walk. Team Strange Journey held a party at the Shadowmoon roleplay area. Castle Primal Passions held a music concert featuring a "Kiss" Tribute band with over 5,000 Lindens raised going to Team Sunbeamer. The Roma sims held a weekend festival with the Roman god Neptune as the theme, with a few water-related events.

There's always something going on, somewhere, in Second Life.

Press Release: Team Strange Journey Castle Contest

2nd Annual Castle Contest
In Support of Relay For Life of Second Life
June 15-21
Sponsored By: Relay D'Alliez, Chung Estates

Come one, come all to a weeklong event featuring castles built by amateur and professional builders alike! Builders sign up and then construct a castle that is featured. Castles are laid out onto the sim and everyone can walk around and take a look at each castle set up!

At the end of the week, seven judges will go around and use a list of criteria to judge their castles. The castle with the best score will win first prize of L$100,000! This prize will go to the team of their choice or to the General Kiosk, supporting the American Cancer Society (which is actually an international organization).

Throughout the week, we will have round-the-clock DJ entertainment, plus various contests and castle parties/dances throughout the week! We will also have many vendors sprawled across the Sims.
We are still in need of more castles. Please consider building a castle yourself-- or if you can't do that, find someone who can! Then, go to this website and read the guidelines and sign up.

Clowning Around For The Relay

Those taking part in the various Relay for Life events can often be accused of clowning around. Though last Saturday, the expression took on literal form with an offer by Rowena Dubrovna, the Captain of Team Strange Journeys, when they were helping out the Equstria team.

ROWENA IS A CLOWN!!!

Thanks to your donations of 3,000 linden plus to various kioss and getting Team Equstria RFL BRONZEEEEE,

Rowenda posted that she "must wear a clown outfit for an entire week!!" and , "Yes.. I will wear it at our event on Wednesday."
