"Tail Sale" at The Happy Vixen

 

 The Happy Vixen Beach Club is having a "Tail Sale." What is a tail sale? It can be compared to a flea market, in which volunteers put themselves up for bid offering activities such as drawing or building, or perhaps offer themselves up for a date with someone from the opposite sex. Volunteers get a cut of the winning bid, with the rest going for the upkeep of the club. Grease Coakes explained what can go on at one in this article several years ago.

Those interested in volunteering can fill out a notecard one can get at the large sign at the club and send it to Brandi Streusel. The sale will end on Friday, Aug 26, at 9pm SLT.

Scenes From One Billion Rising

On Tuesday February 14, many residents were at the Isle of View's "Hug a Linden/Dunk a Linden" or other Valentines Day themed happenings. But the event that most likely got the largest attendance was not a romance-themed one, but one that was part of a worldwide demonstration against violence on women and in support of women's rights globally: the One Billion Rising. Gemma Cleanslate was one of the volunteers for the event. Bixyl Shuftan dropped by briefly and took a few pictures of his own.

One Billion Rising in Second Life

A wonderful place to be on Valentines Day in Second Life is at the One Billion Rising Event. This is the 5th year of the event in our virtual world which coincides with the real-life event held all over the world on that day. “The Rising continues as a demand to end ALL forms of exploitation of women and girls.”

“The Second Life event will feature a four-region stage where 200 people can come together to dance, surrounded by an area of art installations, an arena for poetry and dramatic productions, and informational exhibits. A variety of performers will play over the 24-hour period and poetry and dramatic events will be held at different times, enabling people all over the world to attend this virtual event no matter their timezone. The regions will have a General maturity rating to allow all residents an opportunity to participate. Pictures are welcome on the event’s Flickr group.”

 

The artists who exhibit always do a wonderful job with their installations and I am looking forward to seeing them and to the great parties on the stages. 

 

I stopped over at the offices of the OBR to pick up my t shirt. 

Saturday I hope to participate in the filming of the new "Break the Chain video. It will be my third film working with all the other dancers .  I will be greeting again this year so will see you there.

The Christmas Expo

The Christmas Expo is open! The regions look absolutely gorgeous dressed for winter. The shops are reminiscent of a village setting in some parts and in others the urban streets of a fashion city. This year there are roaming horse carriages so if you get tired you can take a relaxing tour all around the four sims.

The shops are filled with not only decor for your sim or home but wonderful outfits for this season and any other where you hang out for warmth. There will be events all week This is a event to raise money for the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society. After shopping you can stop over to the attached region for the Society that is chuck full of information about the work being done all over the globe to end the threat of cancer once and for all.

Be sure to stop over to Santa’s site to have your picture taken with him. He will be in his char at the top of every hour with his elves hanging out and then you might find him anywhere on the regions roaming and taking requests for gifts. 


“Pick your spot in the snowman building area and start rolling that snow.  Simple, fancy, classic, wild… it is up to you what you do with your 30 prims.You have from Dec 1 – 5 to build your snowman, voting is held December 7 – 11  and winners are announced on Sunday, Dec 11, 2016, 1pm SLT  at a special party in the Snowman Building area featuring live singer Suzen Juel Resistance.There are 2 categories –  Judges Picks and the Popular Vote, which is determined by donations to the Relay For Life Kiosk beside your snowman. 100% proceeds goes to Relay For Life of Second Life.” There were a myriad of fun Santas last year , some not so traditional, so be as creative as you like!

Be sure to look for ‘Stocking stuffers’ that have gifts from the merchants. There are raffles, auctions, gotchas and so much more. The christmas Tree lot has some wonderful trees for your home. The Breedables Auction will be s silent auction which is a new approach this year.  Don‘t miss the Advent wreath by the Winter Cafe where the many parties will be taking place.

The Relay for Life Christmas Expo Begins

Thursday December 1 was the start of the Relay for Life Christmas Expo. For almost two weeks, this winter holiday by the Relay for Life in Second Life will take place. There's lots of stores to shop at, there are breedable auctions, you can get your picture on Santa's lap, there's the snowman contest, and lots of music and dance events by DJs and live musicians.

The RFL in Second Life Christmas Expo Is Coming

It won't be long before December is here. And for the fans of the Relay for Life that means the Relay for Life in Second Life Christmas Expo. There will be a number of events, including numerous live performers and DJs, the Breedables Fair and Auction, and of course lots and lots of shops and stalls for Christmas shoppers to get gifts for friends while helping out the American Cancer Society at the same time.

The fun doesn't start for another week, but for those wishing to help out, there are calls for volunteers. For instance, they need people willing to play the part of Santa and his elves. They need hosts and hostesses to help out the musicians whom will be performing many events. They need owners of breedable pet auction houses.

Second Life Birthday 13's Theme Annouced: "The Shared Adventure"

Yesterday on Thursday March 24, the Second Life Birthday website was updated for the first time since last year's celebration. The theme for this year's anniversary event was announced. It is "The Shared Adventure." Harper Beresford wrote the following:

Merriam-Webster defines Adventure as “an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks” as well as “an exciting or remarkable experience.”

One could argue that Second Life itself was a risk when Linden Lab first created a virtual world out of their haptics testing rig so may years ago, and their risk has turned to a remarkable experience for millions of uses over thirteen-plus years.

Second Life has been home to countless virtual adventures, and continues to break new ground. Each of us shares in the adventure, as our creations are enjoyed by avatars from far and wide.

What does adventure stir in you? Is it an endless vista of unexplored jungles and ocean depths, a space opera, or even intrigue in dimly-lit alleyways. What dangers are afoot, and how will you and your cohorts seek to overcome them?

How will you present your escapades with others in Second Life? Will you send them on a great quest, tell them the stories of your own exploits, or present them with the tools to craft their own adventurous experiences?

For the 13th Anniversary of Second Life leaving beta, we invite you to put on your pith helmets, your G-Suits, or whatever gear you need, and share with your adventures with the global Second Life community.

And so, the work for one of Second Life's biggest annual events begins once again. The sims have been set up, and now the theme chosen. Those interested in helping out with the building can contact Doctor Gascologne and Diana Renior.

Volunteering For The Expo

The Christmas Expo continues in Second Life, already having raised a large amount of Lindens. Among the volunteers for the fundraiser is Second Life's Gemma Cleanslate, whom can be encountered on it's streets as one of the "elves."
