Unusual Sight on The Grid

Going about the Grid on an alt while testing a Cloud data detector (more on that later), I stumbled across a few unusual sights. One was a location I'll try to describe in detail later. Another was this circle of avatars I saw on the map just off Bellisseria.

Taking a look, all of these avatars were underwater, and appeared invisible. They didn't respond to me, so presumably they were alts that were placed there, for some unknown purpose. As this was a water sim with no attractions, not sure what they were trying to accomplish other than a neat circle on the map.

My Alt And I : The Story of Bun Buns Bunsies

People create alts for various reasons. Some do so to hide. Others to bring to life characters they've imagined. In real life, Deaflegacy has a stuffed toy green rabbit. Hearing about the idea of alts, she decided to create one with the personality she imagined it having. So how have things turned out dor Bun-Buns?

Rita Mariner and the Sawyer Squad

Many of us know someone with an alternate account, or alt. And some of us know someone with a number of them. So how many alts could someone have and keep tabs on them all? For someone with a lot of them, the Newser didn't have to look very far. The leader of the Sunweaver community, Rita Mariner, has a huge collection of alts, over a hundred. Dubbed the "Sawyer Squad," actually not every single one of her alts count as one, though most do. Recently Rita had a few words with the Newser about her alts, and a certain problem that had recently come up with them concerning Linden Lab.

Commentary: Griefers and Their Damage

When I hung around Luskwood frequently a few years ago, the place would on occasion be hit by griefers. These days, it doesn't happen so much there, though these troublemakers are still an ever-present nuisance across the Grid. While most just do a quick strike and run, last week one new DJ in the community I call home inworld turned out to be an alt of a grieder known in some circles. He'd been lying low for a while, and once exposed he made troubles for hours until he was banned completely. Can much of anything be done about miscreants such as these in Second Life? Yours truly put a few thoughts down on the matter.
