Mystery Circle of Alts Near Bay City

 

Second Life can have no shortage of weirdness. While checking out the new construction on the Trans-Sansara Causway, looking around, I noticed a curious circle of avatars in the Hiltrude sim near Bay City. Heading over, they were underwater, and all had similar names, each with"Pitblado" as part of them, and created all on the same day, April 3, 2026. They all had blank profiles and were invisible, minus their tags.

 

And then suddenly vanished. Not one by one, but every single one teleported away, all at once. 

 

Checking the map, I saw they'd gone to Shannavay several sims away. So I headed there and got a better look.  What they were doing, no idea. It's possible they were bots trying to get information on nearby sims. But they don't need to be in groups for this purpose or stay very long. 

 

Oh, and no, you can't teleport into The Cornfield near Hiltrude.

"Can I eat it?" "Flowers in winter?" "Looks like a seal." "What is this thing? How dare you come into a dragon circle!" With two thinking to themselves, "Let them not see, act normal." "How did I end up here?"

Wowsy would comment, "the pic might have more than one impostor."

Unusual Sight on The Grid

 

 Going about the Grid on an alt while testing a Cloud data detector (more on that later), I stumbled across a few unusual sights. One was a location I'll try to describe in detail later. Another was this circle of avatars I saw on the map just off Bellisseria.

Taking a look, all of these avatars were underwater, and appeared invisible. They didn't respond to me, so presumably they were alts that were placed there, for some unknown purpose. As this was a water sim with no attractions, not sure what they were trying to accomplish other than a neat circle on the map.

Virtual Hippies

Some Second Life residents lived through the days of "Sex and Drugs and Rock n' Roll" from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. But for most of us, we were either too young to hear about what was going on, or born afterwards. Among the groups of people associated with the time are the hippies. Sometimes looked down upon, occasionally celebrated, just who were they? Hearing about a place inworld called Free Spirit Farms, Becky Shamen, whom did live through those times, took the opportunity to explain as she visited the place and talked to the people there whom had taken a little of the Age of Aquarius to the virtual world. Also, the Newser was informed about some "nip" that supposedly provided a virtual psychedelic trip. Becky gave it a try and compared the results to the experiences of the real thing.
