SL Videos: "Second Life AI Town Hall - April 18, 2025"

 

 

Last week on Friday April 18, Linden Lab hosted a Town Hall meeting, the topic being "AI and The Future of Our Virtual Community." There were two videos made, one from Linden Lab, ( Click Here if the video does not play)

There were a number of questions and statements sent by residents ahead of time, as well as those brought up by people in the audience. Philip Linden (Philip Rosedale) did his best to answer them.

Reader Submitted Pictures: Firestorm Anniversary Party

 

A little more than a week ago, Team Firestorm celebrated their fourteenth anniversary party. While the Newser wasn't able to make it, thankfully someone who was there, Panterapolnocy, sent the Newser some pictures. And so here they are, showing some of the fun those who were there had.

Strawberry's "Then and Now" Challenge

 

Earlier this month, Strawberry Linden posted a "Then and Now" challenge on the forums, "May 9th is my Resident avatar's 15th rez day so I thought it would be fun to do the Then and Now Challenge. To do this challenge, pick one of the oldest images of your avatar and do a side-by-side comparison with a recent image of your avatar. "

Some got my attention, such as how Draxtor's had changed over the years.

Panterapolnocy (formerly Chakat Northspring) would comment, "June 2011 vs now, May 2022. In exception of species... not much of a change, to be honest."

DeniseUnicorn Toonie, my neighbor, showed how her avatar had improved over the years.

And then there was Callum Linden, "Let's just call it 'timeless, vintage, immutable' shall we."

Reader Submitted: Farewell Party For Oz

 

 From Panterapolnocy. On Feb 23, a party was held at Simon Linden Land in Denby in honor of Oz Linden, whom retires from the Lab tomorrow. His last public appearance will be at the Lab Gab that day.

"Thank you for everything good you've done for the platform of Second Life and the residents that use it - making their lives fun and more interesting. "

Panterapolnocy films the Third-Party Viewer Developer meetings. The last one on Friday February 19 would be distinguished by it being the last one. For those not wanting to sit through the whole thing, Inara Pey's report gives a rundown on what was discussed, notably the Project Jelly Viewer. But many would find the most important detail being Oz Linden's farewell talk near the beginning.

"I want to say that working with the third party viewer community has been  – I mean this is how it started for me, and it has been a theme throughout, and it has been a very great pleasure working with all of you. It’s really been terrific, and thank you. Thank you for making me look good, and thank you for all you contribute to this really impactful and fun product. It's even more fun to work on than it is to use."
