Madonna's "Cancer's Worst Nightmare"

So what would you do for the Relay? There have been no shortage of things that have been done to raise money from the "Bid Me Bald," to wearing a different type of avatar for a while, to being a color you told everyone you loathed. But Madonna Daehlie's "Bid a Nightmare to End a Nightmare" took things to a whole new level. Inspired by a scene from a horror movie, the DJ noted for her rubber suit was sporting a look that no doubt will "bug" her fans.

Making Strides Kickoff Events

Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4 would see events for the "Making Strides" fundraiser for breast cancer. At 6PM SL time on Saturday, a DJ music party took place high over Silver Creek.

Hey everyone, we have DJ Gemstone spinning some tunes at Relay Hard Cafe. Come and join us as we kick off Strides!!!

On Sunday, Making Strides held it's Tailgating Party in Relay Relay dAlliez. The event started at 11AM SL time, and went on for some hours. The performers listed were DJ Titan Hawksky, Samm Quendra, Zak Clazton, Jeffak Resident, and Shane Dezno.

We are kicking off Strides in a big way.   We are having a Tailgating party!!!  It's a huge game.  Breast Cancer VS SL Stride Volunteers and Supporters!!   Come join us for pre-game music with T1 Radio, starting at 10 am.   Opening Ceremonies at 11 am, and then a great line of live performers and djs.  Come on out and cheer on our team!!  The fun goes through out the afternoon.   Sign up for upcoming events, pick up some great Tshirts, and other great things.

I dropped in while Shane sang for the crowd. There was a great deal of enthusiasm as the crowd cheered for her. And when her time finally ended, the screen was full of gestured as they applauded her performance. I would later be told some thousands of Lindens were raised that day for Making Strides. Let's hope they have a successful season.

Multi-Team Relay Party at Silver Creek

Last night high above the Silver Creek sim, there was a Relay party that was originally intended to raise funds for Team Shadow, but they invited other teams to put up their kiosks, and a number of others did, including the Steelhead Salmons, which at 195,000L are closing in on the 200K mark, and the Sunbeamers.

Besides yours truly, other Sunbeamers included Shockwave Yareach, Cynthia Farshore, and chieftess Rita Mariner. Rita made a rare appearance in her custom-made fox avatar, looking a bit like a harem girl as it was dressed in silks. Other notable Relayers included Oldesoul Eldemar, Cuddly Waffle, Madonna Daehlie, and others.

The Sunbeamers made a few thousand Lindens that day, at 217,000 Lindens raised are the third highest of the Silver ranked teams. With the Road Rally Sunbeamer event in a couple days, Gold status is within sight.
