Montecito Bay's New Community Pool

It's summertime, and in real life many of us take some time to relax in a pool. Second Life has it's share of pools, which can be the scene of pool parties. But Becky Nosferatu wanted to make one that was more than just a hole in the ground with water. For weeks she worked on a pool ride, and several days ago, it was up and ready at Montecito Bay and the community threw a party.

Scenes From The Relay Flood Party

All good things must come to an end. And sadly so is the case with the Relay for Life Weekend track. But on the day before takedown, there was one final official event: the Flood Party. The Newser was there, and would take pictures of some of the fun that was had.

Scuba Diving in Second Life

People can do a lot in Second Life, some things one might be a little surprised can be experienced. Among these is scuba diving. At The Dive Shop in Ukupanipo, one can rent some equipment, and go underwater for two hours. And there's much to explore that will keep you looking around for that time, including some almost hidden places.

RFL Flood Party

At 5PM SL time, Wednesday June 12, there came a yearly tradition that began by accident in 2010, and has since become a last call for fun each year at the Relay track: the "Flood Party." While it's sometimes called other names, this year the "Sink the Sims Party," it still holds onto it's unofficial name year after year.

Once last lap, one last chance to see RFL and then we watch it sink @ The Annual SINK THE SIMS Party

Starting at 5pm All Aboard For A Cure will sink into the sea leaving us with Memories and the satisiaction of a a Job Well Done!

Join RelayRadio at RFL Research or on The Track for one last Party !

Taking place onto the bridge that separated the "Five Days of Relay" sims to it's east to other sims to the west, the water slowly crept up, and for the tinies there, it was time to get a floatie, or hold their breath.

People laughed, joked, and swam. There were also a few aquatic avatars that joined in the fun.

But it wasn't long before the water began to recede, and the Flood Party was soon over.

Although the camps didn't need to be cleaned up until the day after, some people began picking up theirs right after the party. Others left them up, giving Relay fans a chance to see one last look at them.

Today is the Takedown at the Relay track sims, and by tonight, the camps will be gone.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at Club Cutlass. Sometimes, it does seem the lag gets so bad, you can almost swim in it.

New Brighton

Gemma Cleanslate's latest article is about a little corner of Second Life called New Brighton. Modeled after the real-life Brighton Beach in the United Kingdom, the sim has been around for about ten years. The place offers much to see and do from rides, to swimming, to pumpkin-hunting contests, to live music events, and more.

Avatar Review: The Anthroxtacy Shark

Second Life offers many kinds of nonhuman avatars for going about the land of Second Life. But what about the water? There is of course traditional mermaid avatars. But there's more than that. One other kind of aquatic avatar out in Second Life is the Anthroxacty shark. Although it's maker is no longer active in Second Life, there is a place where not only can one still get the avatar, but get it for free.

Serena Long Cay

Gemma Cleanslate was quite busy at Burn2, and while wanting to write about something, she also really wanted to relax. She heard about a place called Serena Long Cay, and headed there. The place had numerous activities to have fun and take it easy. While there, she found out a little of the owner's reasons for building the place as well as running into someone interesting.
