Standing Tall At "Conception"

Taken at Burn2 Conception. This particular Burn2 spinoff event was noted for "The Man" built as a female shape. But it wasn't the only lady standing tall. Builder Andrea Jones appeared in a Colussus avatar, towering over everyone else at the art and music festival.

And no, the DJ didn't play "Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman."

Reader Submitted: Grave Situation

Sent by Andrea Jones, a scene from June 21 at a Halloween event, "Found a nice quiet gravestone off by itself to rest on."  But it seems things won't be quiet for long

Burn2 Exhibits And Other Builds

The Burn2 festival has been going on this week. And as always, the builders have gone all out with some great builds. And this weekend, the Burning of the Man and the Temple take place. Gemma Cleanslate, whom is doing duty as a Burn2 Ranger as well as a reporter, was on the scene to write up about what to see.

Caledon Oxbridge University Fundraising Party at Club Jor-El

On Saturday Night, February 29, Caledon Oxbridge University held a fundraising party. This wasn't at the University grounds, but high above the sim in a place that looked like it was carved out of ice: Club Jor-El. Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the event. Instead of taking tips, there was a donation jar "to help support classes, tutorials, and tier" of the institution. "Don't crack the ice," she mused.

Among the songs played were various superhero movie themes, and a few cartoon ones. There was also some chatter about these movies and cartoons, as well as some talk about science fiction, such as the Star Trek Animated Series and the Starfleet Battles board game, which featured a race from the Trek cartoon, the Kzinti, which had the carriers in the game.

Near the end, Andrea Jones (andreajonesms Resident) announced, "This will be the last fundraiser ball for a few months. I think I'm overdoiing them. ... Club Jor-El will be a permanent build. It's too cool to close early." "Even if it is crawling with superheroes?" one guy in a villain costume mused. "I have rebuilt it twice now ... Well, you can't find a villain build." Someone mused that was probably because villains' lairs tended to blow up after the heroes beat the bad guy.

Announcement: Caledon Oxbridge University Fundraiser

The October Halloween Party Fundraiser will be on October the 19th, starting at 7 PM. We are doing the fundraiser a little early in the month to avoid the end of the month crush of October events.  The fundraiser will run roughly 3 hours, finishing sometime close to 10 PM. SLT.  We want everyone to have a chance to pop in as they can.

DJ Cynthia Farshore will be our DJ for the evening at the spooky Halloween sky-box. There we will be dancing and listening to the tunes of Halloween from now and yesteryear.

The theme is "A Classic Halloween," going back to the early days of Horror. Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, The Wolfman, The Mummy, etc.

The gifts-giver will be active, and there are props for taking selfies, and an attic to explore.

This year we have a two-sided poster provided by Cynthia Farshore and Carl Metropolitan, Thank you both. Click it to receive this note card on the event.  It is full perms so you can adjust the size as needed to place as a advertisement. Poster is 3 prims only! Feel free to share and if you want the texture separate, IM Andrea Jones (andreajonesms Resident).

Any donation is appreciated but donations are not required to be at the events. No cover charge as we want you to come and have a good time. I hope to see all of you there! Feel free to help get the word out about our event.

Ster Trek USS Enterprise Bridge Over Caledon

Caledon is a noted steampunk / Victorian themed community and location. But Caledonian Andrea Jones set up something a little more interstellar in a skybox far above: a build of the USS Enterprise's bridge area. She had placed the build to help people celebrate the fifty-third anniversary of the airing of the first episode of Star Trek's original series on September 8, 1966.

A place to visit for this weekends Star Treks Anniversary

In deference to the Anniversery of Star Treks TV debut.
I have placed a recreation of the bridge of the Enterprise  NCC1701 . Feel free to pop in and enjoy it and have the local sounds turned up.

Role play is welcome to any one who wants to use it.

The bridge is very detailed, with some buttons making sounds when pressed. The most notable example is the captain's chair, which can play various sound-effects from the show such as the alert siren. The buttons at the helm area can control what the screen shows, such as traveling through space, other spaceships, or being in orbit. The build is a total of 132 prims.

"Star Trek" was originally aired from 1966 to 1969. It was a trailblazer in science-fiction, and achieved a loyal fanbase that remains active to this day. NBC cancelled the show for supposedly poor ratings, a decision that TV Guide would call one of the top ten blunders in television history. But the show would do very well in syndication. When the network finally realized it's mistake a few years later, there was talk of doing more seasons. But when they looked for the sets, props, costumes, and other equipment in their warehouses, they found the items had been "scrapped, given away, or simply stolen." So they did two seasons of The Animated Series. The franchise would go on to make a number of movies and TV series.

Andrea Jones' "Reflections of Darkness" Opens at National Museum of Caledon

There's a new exhibit at the National Museum of Caledon. While it has a lot of artwork, mostly dark and morbid, it's not the pictures that are the center of the exhibit, but of the poetry that they inspired. Andrea Jones did a number of grim poems based on these pictures she'd seen, and one can see both at the Museum owned by Star (Astarynite Resident). I attended the grand opening event, of which Cynthia Farshore provided the music
