Ask Dr. Philly: "Pointing Out 'That Guy' "

Dr. Philly (Joshua Xavier) is back with his column about "people issues" in Second Life, such as love, relationships, drama, and more. In the latest two letters, the first has a club manager advertising his venue through Facebook dealing with a supposed former sim owner whom demands he leave and help in spreading "the truth." The second reader points out the success of Joshua (and his alt Becky Shamen) in Second Life compared to him, and asks why the difference.

Dr. Philly (Joshua Xavier) is back with his column about "people issues" in Second Life, such as love, relationships, drama, and more. In the latest two letters, the first reader asks about how to handle people whom just won't respond to being talked to. The second deals with a resident whom wonders what "the rules" are about being able to take advantage of an avatar's ability to more or less take on any form at will.

"Ask Dr. Philly" Advice Column

Readers will remember for a while we had an advice column by DrFran Babcock, "Ask DrFran." As DrFran has been on hiatus, Joshua Xavier has stepped up to take her place for a while with "Ask Dr. Philly." Named after Dr. Phil, whom appeared in Second Life some months ago then mentioned the virtual world on his show, "Dr. Philly" will handle any questions from you the readers about virtual relationships, disputes with friends, or any other "people" issues, and offer a little advice on how to handle the matter.

The column will be in People.

Crew Meeting

A picture of the crew meeting Saturday March 1st, when we met to discuss ideas for stories the next month, such as the Relay for Life season. Those present: Gemma Cleanslate, Joshua Xavier (Becky Shamen's alt), myself, DrFran Babcock, Nydia Tungsten, and Grey Lupindo.

DrFran Babcock was trying out this Siamese avatar, and had a little friend from the gacha along for the ride. Ribbit!

Trade Winds

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! Becky Shaman's alt Joshua Xavier got himself a ship, and went to the Trade Winds to do a little sailing and exploring. The voyage was not without hazard as the place is known to harbor pirates. So did Joshua encounter any buccaneers, or RP admins whom had a dislike for boats that didn't exactly fit the approved list?

A Dragon's Tale: Making a Cross-Continental Journey

Some months ago, Becky Shamen offered the readers a challenge. From the southern tip of the Satoir continent to the eastern edge of Gatea was the longest path one could make over landmasses. Becky challenged the residents to make the trip. Months later, her alt Joshua was ready to make the journey, as their dragon character Katzu Kwattle. So how did the big Wyrm do?

Introducing Katzu

Becky "Sha" Shamen, before coming to Second Life worked on some animation shorts with a dragon character named "Katzu Kwattle." After seeing a recent avatar review by Xymbers Slade, she had the idea of bringing the character here, and got the dragon avatar he wrote on. So what did Becky have to say about the new scalie walking about the Sunweaver Estates?

Newser Crew Beach Party

On Sunday January 20, the reporters of Second Life Newser and some of their friends met at Cova's Cove for a beach party.

The place was a private beach island, owned by our friend Convadonga Writer, whom some of us worked alongside with at JamesT Juno's old SLN. She plans to join us when real life matters permit. But in the meantime, she loves having us over at her place for parties.

Among those showing up were KariaKae KariaKae (Kariakae Karu) of the Second Life Coast Guard, shown above dancing, our friend Any1 Gynoid, Annie Brightstar, Lanai Jerrico of the Second Life Enquirer, and others.

 Skylark Lefavre appears with Kiwi and Recoyote Mindes, doing a little "horsing around" with pony avatars.

Grey Lupindo shows off her grass skirt, which got complements from fellow writers Gemma Cleanslate, DrFran Babcock, and Joshua Xavier.

At one point, Joshua changed to a dragon avatar Xymbers Slade had written about earlier. Xymbers himself wasn't able to make the party in-avatar, but it could be argued because of the dragon, he still had a presence around. The results were jokes along the lines of, "hey, I came to have a picnic lunch, not end up a pincic lunch!"

Crew Meeting

 On Saturday January 4 at 1PM SL time, the Newser Crew met for their monthly meeting. We talked a little about the year before, almost a thousand articles and other posts, and swapped ideas on what to do next.

At one point, a little friend of DrFran Babcock appeared. Seems she had picked him of at the Gacha event going on. I'm not sure what it's called, looking like some cross between a frog and a bunny. But hopefully DrFran won't be "bogged" down by a "frunny" situation.

At the Sunweaver Estates and a few other places, a new avatar has been seen going around: Joshua Xavier. Well, he's not exactly as new as his rezzday suggests he is. Becky Shamen talks some about the latest member of the Sunnies, and his orgins.
