Hope to see you there.

Covadonga & Ruffian Writer's Anniversary Party

Covadonga Writer, a friend of the SL Newser whom has often hosted beach parties for the paper's crew, recently had her own party. October 15 is the anniversary of her and her partner Ruffian's relationship. And with Halloween just around the corner, they threw an anniversary party and gave it a spooky look in theme for the holiday.

There were various costumes, some scary, some whimsical. Covadonga Writer sported a "Bride of Frankenstein" look while Ruffian came as the not so good Doctor. Other outfits included vampires, Borg, Wicked Queen, Phantom of the Opera, The Shadow, and others.

There were some funny Halloween songs played, such as "Blood Bank Blues," and "Monster Mash." And there were lots of jokes and puns tossed around, "Why does Transylvania University have a hard time getting students?" "The tuition's a pain in the neck."

Lots of fun was had by all.

Grease Coakes acted as DJ for the party, spinning the tunes for the partiers.

Theonlyjohnny Resident shows off a human av.

Gemma Cleanslate and Qwark Allen took a little time from their work at the SL11B.

A fun time was had by all.

Where Are They Now? Covadonga Writer

Before Second Life Newser, there was Second Life Newspaper. For some at the Newser, it was where they got their start as writers. Among our coworkers there was Covadonga Writer. Recently, we had a chat with Cova to see how she's been doing since those days.

Newser Crew Beach Party

On Sunday January 20, the reporters of Second Life Newser and some of their friends met at Cova's Cove for a beach party.

The place was a private beach island, owned by our friend Convadonga Writer, whom some of us worked alongside with at JamesT Juno's old SLN. She plans to join us when real life matters permit. But in the meantime, she loves having us over at her place for parties.

Among those showing up were KariaKae KariaKae (Kariakae Karu) of the Second Life Coast Guard, shown above dancing, our friend Any1 Gynoid, Annie Brightstar, Lanai Jerrico of the Second Life Enquirer, and others.

Skylark Lefavre appears with Kiwi and Recoyote Mindes, doing a little "horsing around" with pony avatars.

Grey Lupindo shows off her grass skirt, which got complements from fellow writers Gemma Cleanslate, DrFran Babcock, and Joshua Xavier.

At one point, Joshua changed to a dragon avatar Xymbers Slade had written about earlier. Xymbers himself wasn't able to make the party in-avatar, but it could be argued because of the dragon, he still had a presence around. The results were jokes along the lines of, "hey, I came to have a picnic lunch, not end up a pincic lunch!"

A fun time was had by all

The SL Newser Beach Party at Cova's Cove

It was a great party at Cova's Cove yesterday. Begining at 11AM, both the Newser staff and friends of began dropping in.

Others not pictured here whom dropped in included Netera Landar. The owner of the beach, Covadona Writer, was also briefly there.

Blogger DrFran Babcock took this picture. My computer couldn't process her mesh shoes.

Any1 on a whirl. She talked about being in a lively debate with a Plot Tracer earlier.

For more than two hours, it was a fun time held by all. But this isn't the end. There will be at least one more event, at Wednesday at 2PM at DJ Qwark's Sky Platform. We should have another this Saturday.

Thanks to a great team, two years in business. And here's to many more.

The News Party

A few of the Second Life Newser staff and their friends were at Cova's Cove the weekend for a small news party. That's Gracie Kendal at the end (who's 1000 Avatar Project just completed it's goal of 2000 pictures), joining us for a conga line dance. Gemma Cleanslate thankfully was able to get online after some days without Internet due to a freak snowstorm.

Covadonga Writer, shown here testing a rowboat for any guest who wanted it, was unable to stay for the party. Hopefully next time.

What a Party

On Saturday at Noon, we had the first part of our anniversary event at Cova's Cove in Bamboo. We took a few minutes to get ready for the party. I worked on the prize-giver while Cova set up some decor.

And before long, the party was up and running.

A little dance between me and the amiga whom gladly provided the beach for our party.

Shellie and "10" do the "two-step."

It was a great time held by all, with friends old and new dropping in.

Like the newspaper, a couple girls were black and white and "read."

Some at the party had more fun than others. ;-)

And of course, we had a number of well-wishers, congratulating us for the work we've done over the year. Thank you all.

Great party, but not the end. On Sunday, we have the second half of our celebration at The Lighttower. More music, more prizes, and more fun.

See you there.

Our longtime friend Covadonga Writer was nice enough to let us use her private grounds. There will be music and dancing, prizes if I can give this thing I bought to work, and a whole lot of fun.

The celebration starts at 12 Noon SL time. If you can't make it, don't despair. Tomorrow will have the second half of the celebration.

Grand Opening Party at Savannah's Oasis

Late last night, dropped in on the Grand Opening party at Savannah's Oasis. While not jam-packed, Savannah told me that a number of people dropped by during the day, saying they wouldn't be able to make it, and wished her well.

There was much funnery about, one of the guys prancing for the girls in a dance cage, and then Savannah herself doing the same for the males. Despite the party advertised as "clothing optional," people mostly behaved themselves and kept them on ... mostly. At a couple times, the store caught fire. Fortunately for the insurers, it was soon put out without damage. Savannah must have expected the party to get pretty wild.

Almost unnoticed next to the store was a statue on a fountain. At first I thought someone was hiding behind it. Then I saw nobody was. The statue itself was an avatar! It was probably an alt that someone managed to have on at the same time as her main, but I didn't ask.

In private earlier, Savannah told me the store wouldn't have gotten off the ground if it wasn't for her best friend Covadonga Writer. Longtime readers may remember Cova as one of our beloved coworkers from Second Life Newspaper. A real-life journalist as well, her articles were imaginative, such as her "SLoop" and SL fiction "Real Life Raider" stories.

Cova told me she'd been quite busy in real life for some time, but should be able to be inworld a little more often. Let's hope she'll be able to share some more of her experiences in print.

Savannah's Oasis is at the Beehollow sim at (102,32,22)

A Small Party for a Not So Small Milestone

Well, not a lot showed up at our six-month anniversary party, a few having left before this picture was taken, and a number giving their apologies saying they had to be elsewhere (December can be a busy month), but we had fun.

For six months, Second Life Newser has brought readers the news from the Grid, large and small, the people places and events. And we'll continue to do so as long as we can.

Thanks again to you our readers for your readership, your feedback, and your support.
