Top Ten Relay Teams: March 13

With the end of the Relay's Living Expo, five teams of the 152 registered are beyond the half million mark. Fifth is One More Light at over 793,000 Linden dollars and at Sapphire-level fundraising level. Fourth is The River of Life at over 1,054,000 Lindens and Emerald rank. Third is Seekers of Hope at over 1,357,000 Lindens and Ruby rank. The two Diamond-level teams are Camping for a Cure, who are at second place with over 1,882,000 Lindens, and TAP - The Adult Partnership is in first place with over 2,440,000 Linden dollars.

The remaining five of the top ten are all Platinum-ranked teams (between a quarter and a half million Linden dollars raised), Team OD at tenth, the Free Spirit Hippie Brigade at ninth, team Sunbeamers at eighth, Playdolls at seventh, and team ACTS has risen to sixth place.

Of other noted teams, the Cure Chasers and Steelhead Salmons have made it to Platinum and should continue to rise. The Relay Rockers are currently Gold-ranked and are practically certain to make and surpass Platinum as donations come in from "Bid Me Bald" events and the Relaystock. The Giant Snail Races, Roos With A Dream, the Second Life Cheerleading Squad, and Harmony of Hope are also Gold. Purple Tears, Bonanza Country, Meli's Maniacs, Burners Without Borders, and Relay for Christ are currently Silver. The Gorean team and the Second Life Coast Guard are currently Bronze.

As fundraising events continue to bring in donations, teams will continue to rise, and no doubt some new teams will make a strong showing among longtime champions.

RFL Team Totals: TAP Makes Diamond

Less than ten days after the start of the Relay for Life in Second Life's fundraising season, already there's a Diamond-ranked team, one that's raised 1,750,000 Linden dollars, or $7000 USD. This would be TAP - The Adult Partnership, which has gotten over 1,770,000 as of yesterday.

There's one Sapphire-ranked team, Seekers of Hope, at over 904,000 Lindens. Third is Camping for a Cure, who is Jade-ranked at over 591,000 Lindens. Rounding out the top five are two Platinum-ranked teams, One More Light at over 463,000 Lindens and the Sunbeamers at almost 388,000 Linden dollars.

Checking the team totals, there is one difference between this year and some previous years. Every single team has raised some cash, the lowest having gotten 100 L. But with the combined efforts of 122 teams, well, that's a lot of Lindens.

RFL: Settlers of Hope And Fiona Fei's Ribbon Hunt

The Relay Weekend is over. But the sims and many of their builds and camps are still up. Some of them have playable games, and two got the Newser's attention for offering prizes. "Settlers of Hope" is a HUD-based game based on a board game with an item at the end based on what resources you get. One exhibition sim by artist Fiona Fei offered a hunt with a reward for finding all the items.

Scenes From the Relay

Thursday June 4 had a few things going on at the Relay track. One was the chat with Safia Widdershins, whom talked to some of the Committee in RFL Acceptance, which was in the Bellissarian area.

Looking around afterwards, nearby was the Bellia Blues Cafe, a Linden Home made into a venue, with music and coffee.

Later, looking around with Matt Carlton, we saw the Seekers of Hope camp in RFL Courage. Sandy Slate told us the playable game in the camp was based on Settlers of Catlan.

In RFL Fight Back, we found a playable Mojong board, giant sized.

In RFL Healing was the Meli's Maniacs camp, based on the Stragego board game. Not playable, it symbolized the struggle with cancer, "It's not a game, it's a battle."

And the Sunbeamers finished their own build, with a build based on Monopoly and a memorial garden with facts on cancer. Check it out at RFL Hope (120/41/23).
