Valentines Day

It's Valentine's Day, the day for couples to celebrate for love, and for the single but hopeful to look for a date (and for the permanently single to spent time in shooting game marathons). Be sure to be on the lookout for special events around the grid, such as the "Love Train" at Bellisseria, and the "Hug a Linden/Dunk a Linden" at the Isle of View. Clubs such as the Happy Vixen have themed events today, bu by all means be on the lookout for others.

And be wary of cupids who may want to shoot arrows in your behinds.

EOTB: "Love Made in Second Life - Thundr"

Linden Lab, with the help of Draxtor Despress, has been doing a few doing a few "Love Made in Second Life" posts for Valentine's Day season. A few days ago, they had something about the Thundr virtual dating app.

Thundr is a community project created by two friends who have been a part of Second Life since 2007 and wanted to offer a fun, safe, and easy-going dating experience for its Residents.

Since its public launch on February 10th, 2022, Thundr has quickly become a popular choice for virtual daters with almost 7000 activated users and 63000 matches.

The app is built from scratch, offering unique features such as the ability to chat with gifs and emojis. User privacy and security are top priorities, with filters such as gender and age to help find the right match. In addition to its dating features, Thundr users can also use the app to advertise their businesses and activities with modern video ads. ...

Game Review: College Bound

Nydia is back with another review of a dating game: "College Bound." The game starts off with you as a college student having just qualified for a forgein exchange student program with your girlfriend, only for the principal to take you out of the program. Will you try to figure out why you were disqualified, or will you start seeing the other cuties around? Nydia's previous review showed dating games can be well done. But this one, not so much.

Game Review: "Love & Sex : Second Base"

While computer games are often thought of as kid stuff, not all are okay for kids. There's been a number with blood and guts since "Doom" (and before). And some offer adult situations, nudity, and sex. But considering how the expression "porn movie plot" has come to mean hardly any, one can be forgiven for thinking none of the latter have much of one, and most don't. Nydia Tungsten however heard about one adult game that was supposedly an exception: "Love & Sex : Second Base" by Andrealphus Games. Giving it a try, she found the game offers comedy, drama, and suspense. So how well did it all come together?

The Other Dating Game

Some older residents may remember "The Dating Game" show from US TV in the 1970s. Recently in Bellisseria, some Relayers decided to hold events based loosely on it, "The Other Dating Game." Gemma Cleanslate was there last weekend to see that particular show. The results were quite funny, as well as a success for the Relay team totals.

Datemyavi.com

What sets Datemyavi apart from other dating services in Second Life?

Back in September of 2011 Zanidu Titian was having a chat with a friend. They were discussing dating panels in Second Life and how he was not a fan of the way they were set up. He felt they needed more options and he felt he could come up with a better design. His friend dared him and a few days later he created and opened Datemyavi.com where the singles could not only have the opportunity for others to see their in world panel, get brief information about them and "Like" their panel, but now they could also set up their own page on the website giving more information about themselves and what they are seeking. In world you can set up a panel that others can view and "like" and as a bonus option, on the site you can search, Vote (Hot or Not), Share blogs, search forums, chat and much more!

At this time the website has been going through a complete overhaul and once launched will be one of the most user friendly dating sites out there. The panels still continue and are constantly being updated but the greatest thing about the panels at DMA is the fact that they do not do an automatic "Match". No obligations, no trial. You can get the name of the person that likes you and if you are interested you can either like them back or just directly message them!

But, the matches don't stop there! For over a year and half DMA has been hosting Speed Dating. Five days a week, either afternoon or evening you can come over and participate in Speed Dating for a chance to meet that special someone. As well a prize can sometimes be won at the end! In fact tonight's winning prize was a Gift Card for a very highly discounted experience over at The Falls Restaurant, which is DMA's unique dining experience. The perfect place to take that date!

DMA has several other things to do and areas to explore on the sim such as an underwater movie theater, The Back Alley (Bowling and games), picnic areas, volleyball court, dancing and contest areas, several romantic cuddle spots, fishing and a nude beach.

So if you are looking for a potential significant other, stop in at Datemyavi and check out all they have to offer. They have a very friendly staff who are always willing to answer any questions you may have. And hey if you like the place enough, you can always talk to them about job opportunities. A great place to play and work!

Dinner Dating in Second Life

Second Life Newser welcomes a new reporter: Leona Kitty. In her first article, she talks about one place to go on a date within Second Life: a dinner. It seems a bit odd to some, as avatars don't need to eat. But there's more to a date involved than just food.

SLife and Times: Fake or Cheating

Tiddily Winks recently thought about a certain issue. If someone's married in real life and engages in virtual intimacy online, isn't it cheating? She had heard some agree, though may make an allowance if the spouse knows what's going on. Others felt it's just another form of pornography. She expressed a few thoughts on the matter.

Natural Wilderness

Gemma Cleanslate recently explored a place named "Natural Wilderness." It's ideal to take someone on a first date, or simply go and relax. With numerous locations from forested to the shore to winter, there are no shortage of locations to dance, cuddle, or simply lie back and watch the sunset.

A Date Gone Sour

I guess I’ve done a bit of what could be called dates in Second Life, though the purpose has usually been for just me and a lady friend to just simply relax and have a pleasant time rather than serious thoughts of romance down the road. Sometimes it goes well, a pleasant dance to nice music, a walk in a park, a sim tour on an automated vehicle together, etc., and both of us part ways on a good note.

One time, things didn’t go so well.

I had come across one girl by chance encounter, and we became friends. We met a few more times. Then one day she invited me to a sim in which the area’s name suggested a bit of dating by more serious couples was done here, “Cuddle Cove.” As it turned out, a band had come to have a concert, and she thought I might like some time here.

We took a try at one of the dance poseballs, but with all the people in the area, she crashed, and took quite a while to become visible again, which was a little frustrating. But still, we were about to give it another try.

Then a mutual friend of ours came in. She greeted him, “Hi .” , then a second later I did as well, “Hi .” She then typed “Don’t mock me!” Puzzled, I asked, “What’s wrong?”

(girl) : *slaps Bixyl*
Bixyl: Ow. What was that for?
(girl) : You mocked me!
Bixyl: What?! How could I have mocked you?
(girl) : You said hello to him the same way I did.

She then went to the guy, who had stood in front of us not knowing what the heck was going on, and asked him to dance. They then went to a nearby set of dance poseballs. Confused, there was nothing better for me to do than walk away, porting out after a moment to think.

I guess she was looking for an excuse to dance with him instead, though she could simply have asked me if I minded, which I wouldn’t have.
