Reader Submitted: An InWorldz Resident Speaks
I was informed of the closing when I logged in yesterday. I normally get emails from InWorldz, but nope not on this. So I was surprised by Sam Leader in my inbox the minute I logged in and no one seemed to know a thing about when things were closing.
So everyone is scrounging to pull up stakes. Someone said it was a sudden eviction and the only ones who really knew about anything were the inner click and they didn't start spilling anything until a few days ago I guess everyone was in the same boat logged in usual time yesterday and slammed with closing announcements. Not nice.
There are a lot of disabled people and older people who play here. That sort of sudden "get out" message is hard for someone not in great health to stay up for two days straight and download 8 years of their life....type of thing.
Then you have the creators that took a chance here like Pulse skins, Twisted Thorn Textures, Katy's Creations, Seda's Creations, Seer's FP, and the rest. If they didn't keep .xml's on the hard drive then it is come in and delete their whole inventory so they do not get ripped off by the back up of servers. type of thing.
We all felt so safe here because of dcma's being taken serious....griefers were handled. How do we know they won't just take what we all leave to this new as their own property? This is teaching all of us how flimsy our hold is on our creations in truth. If some grid like Second Life closed, how do we prove the inventory and assets are not theirs? The best I can do personally is just let what I do not get out go and wish for the best....I will make more new things in the future....just sort of sad if I run across one of my builds in another grid by someone else. I had that happen in SL before. I didn't understand permissions when I started and had a whole set of clothing packs ended up in the free bie areas. It was sad all the hours I spent on them to have them show up given away for free by someone else. I learned (laughter).
This is teaching me also (grin), the do not sweat the small stuff and just have fun when I am in Virtual Worlds.

Reader Submitted: Goodbye SL11B (Or Maybe Not)
Zia Larnia, whom was among those attending the last performance at the SL11B Cake Stage by Laz Dresler from 10PM to Midnight SL time on Sunday June 29, took these pictures of the fireworks show that started at 11PM
While some rockets made it outside the stage area, the real treat was inside. Everyone was dancing amongst the lights.
And so, the Second Life Eleventh Birthday Celebrations officially came to a close. But this is not the end. The exhibits will still be up for several more days. Some exhibits will also have their own smaller parties this time, including the SL Newser Exhibit, which will have one today at 2PM SL time at SL11B Fascinate (78/87/21/)

New Second Life / InWorldz Group: The Grid Walkers Welcome Center
To help out Second Life residents interested in going about the InWorldz Grid the InWorldz / Second Life Connection Center was created. But On December 7, the owner of the group suddenly announced the center was closing. Those whom had depended on the group to go between worlds smoothly found themselves without their support. To fill this gap, the group's former manager Zia Larina and White Vixen Enterprise's Nydia Tungsten got together and formed a new group they could turn to for help: The Grid Walkers Welcome Center.

InWorldz/Second Life Connection Center Closes - Statement From Zia Larina
Just a few days after it helped organize a discussion about InWorldz, members of the InWorldz/Second Life Connection Center group got a surprise. Without warning, the group's owner, Amore Crux, announced the place was closing. Manager Zia Larnia was just as surprised as anyone else to hear the news, and today made a statement about what had happened.

Answering Questions About the InWorldz Grid
In recent months, the InWorldz Grid has gotten more attention among the residents of Second Life. There has been much talk, and some concern that not everything being stated is true. So a conference was arranged, and people familiar with InWorldz, including one of it's founders, were on hand to answer any questions and concerns.

Discussion About InWorldz At Purrfection
On November 30th, a discussion about the InWorldz Grid took place at the Purrfection sim, hosted by Nydia Tungsten. Over thirty people attended the meeting. This included Zia Larina and Amore Crux of the Second Life/InWorldz Connection Center, and Elina Llewellyn, whom Zia called one of InWorldz' founders. A number of questions were asked, and answered. Probably the most important concern answered was that no one has to chose just one Grid. Setting up shop in InWorldz does not mean leaving Second Life behind, and in fact many InWorldz residents still spent time in the larger Grid.
The meeting went on much longer than expected, a few hours. Due to the business of the weekend, an in-depth report will have to wait until later this week. But in the meantime, people can watch the following video: http://www.twitch.tv/nydia_tungsten/b/484003456. The meeting starts at about 1 hour and 23 minutes into the recording.
Second Life Newser apologizes for the delay.

InWorldz - Second Life Connection Center
With all the talk about the new and vague Terms of Service and people expressing doubts about Linden Lab, perhaps you're among those thinking of giving the InWorldz Grid a visit. But unless you have friends there, and sometimes even if you do, where does one go for help on making the move? There is one group in both InWorldz and Second Life that can help, the InWorldz - Second Life Connection Center.
More on the story in Other Worlds and MMOs.

Discussion on InWorldz to be Held Nov 30
With InWorldz getting more attention from Second Life users due to Linden Lab's Terms of Service controversy, people have been looking for facts about the virtual world. But with concerns about misleading information, an event to explain what's true and what isn't true about the InWorldz grid is being organized.
Nydia Tungsten, whom has been traveling some to InWorldz along with some of her friends, expressed concern about what she feels are false rumors, notably a statement by Kinzart Productions that went beyond saying they would not be selling their avatars there, but also called InWorldz a "poorly maintained clone" of Second Life that was basically "a haven for thieves and copybotters" and at "risk of being shut down" by the US government. She got together with Amore Crux and Zia Larnia, who run the InWorldz/Second Life Connection Center, and informed Second Life Newser they will be holding a discussion about this alternative virtual world, fully open to the Second Life public.
The day and time for the discussion will be Saturday November 30, at Noon SL time. A location for the event has not yet been determined. While the IW/SLCC in the sim of Appletor would be appropriate for a small event, with the attention the issue's been getting across Second Life residents, a place in which the audience can listen from three or four sims is being looked for. As for Kinzart's accusations, they were dismissed by Nydia and Amore. Nydia stated that the Grid was stable compared to Second Life, and the lag was no worse than the larger Grid, and for some even less. As for copybotters, Nydia told Second Life Newser about hearing in a InWorldz group chat someone who was basically hounded out of the chatroom after admitting a skin she was having trouble with was given by a friend who got it from Second Life, the people demanding that she ditch it for one bought from an InWorldz dealer, and threatening to report her. InWorldz, she stated, has as little tolerance for copybotters as Second Life, if not less. Amore stated, "In InWorldz, if anyone steals some other's creations and try to sell it, they get kicked out."
Nydia added, "there are less copybotters there in InWorldz than Second Life because it is less known. But to put a whole grid down like that with no proof or reason, (it) goes beyond not so thought out responses from someone that clearly had no idea of what they were talking about."
Once again, the discussion is planned for Nov 30. The location will be announced by Second Life Newser once a place has been found.
