Becky Nosferatu of Magican Productions now has a new product, the "Build Your Own Feline" avatar mod.

 

The BYO:Feline has been released! The Current skins are sold separately or with the Fatpack (Which is actually cheaper INWORLD,) And the Cheetah Markings are sold separately! This is because I plan do to several series of skins and markings, to allow for more customization and tintable markings that can work on OTHER skins! Enjoy what's out now, because I have some fun plans for the next set of skins!

According to the Marketplace description, "This mod is only SLUV BOM and UNIVERSAL Layers for the creature it's meant to create. Textures are included, in case you wish to shuffle around the layers, or create new ones." It contains "BOM skins for Feminine, Masculine, Flat Chested and CZ Slim! Universal Layers for extra head, tail and other part options." Becky stated, "These have been tested to try AP Feet, Catseye Feet, and other SLUV feet out there, and they work rather well, despite being M*P Anthro Feet based. There is no hair, or eyebrows. It is only skins for this mod."

Avagora Mall

 

 

The Second Life Marketplace can be a convenient place to shop. But sometimes, there's just no substitute for being in an actual shopping center. One place to shop, notably for your avatar needs, is the Avagora Avatar and Mod Mall. 

Located high above the Montecito Bay sim, there are dozens of shops and stores to browse around and buy in. They include Dawn Kingdoms, Aventity, Happy Paw, SKS Designs, Dinkies, Furry Fashion Critters, Kahoots, and more. For avatar and mod makers looking for a place to sell inworld, they can ask Becky Nosferatu for a free space, with 100 prims available for avatar shops, and 50 prims for shops selling mods.

Becky had a message for avatar and mod makers interested in getting a place here, "You're probably asking yourself what the REAL catch is, and I can promise you, there isn't one. The reason for this is simple; I run the Avatar Maker's Guild and have made my own avatars and mods for many years. Back in the day there used to be several sims dedicated to avatar vendors. Those sims are long gone or are difficult and expensive to rent at for little to no traffic. I have seen many avatar makers/modders come and go and I have seen some amazing things done with very little notice from people. For the sake of makers and customers, I want to reimagine those original, creator focused sims. I want to see a single location that avatar makers and modders can come together in order to showcase their works and to make it easier for your customers to find what what they're looking for. This is the vision of what I want to see in SL once again. Of course, the Marketplace already allows for that, but where's the fun of actually going and shopping in SL? So that's why the Avagora exists, and why it's free to you."

Montecito Bay has other reasons for people to visit. There are two active clubs with weekly events, an arcade that recently installed new bowling games, and the Magican Productions and Twilight Imaginarium store (separate from Avagora).

This mod was made over the span of 2 years, as I waited for my feet to be rigged (in the end I had to change rigging partners, due to the previous not being apart of SL anymore,) and due the parts available at the time to be ones I didn't really care for. I was never satisfied. Now, I am, and I finally bring many MANY hours of sweat, blood and tears to my biggest mod yet!

After some time, she lost interest in it due to changes she felt were due to the developers changing things to suit one group of players at the expense of hers. Journey Into The Expanse, And A New Mod Release At Furzona

A few months ago, Cyfir (Cyfiremmerich) wrote about Club Furzona. This Friday, the club will be having a special six hour space-themed triple event, "The Expanse." On Saturday is another special six hour triple event, the last one being a release party for a new avatar mod. Cyfir talked to one of the DJs about the first event, which promises prizes and fun.

Interview With Umber (Vermillia Urnestone)

Cyfir's (Cyfiremmerich Resident) latest interview was with Umber (Vermillia Urnestone). An avatar mod maker and artist, she makes modifications for a number of avatars. She had a number of things to tell Cyfir, including advice to beginning mod makers and how her store "Moopa" got it's name.

Milky Way Kirin Mod Release Party at Montecito Bay's Avagora

Tuesday August 28 was the day The Avagora Mall at Montecito Bay had a release party for a new product: the Milky Way Kirin Mod. The event had four raffles, three of which were for gift cards to the Milky Way store, the fourth which was for a free modded avatar. There was also a "Come As You Are" contest that started out for 3400 Lindens, but people added more and more to the prize, 5000 Lindens, 10,000 Lindens, and finally at 13,001 Linden dollars. "That board, think it was about to blow up," someone would comment in the Discord chat. There were about 42 people in the sim at one point, presumably all but maybe one or two at the event.

The RFL DSD Rabbit V2 Mod

Deaflegacy recently talked to some people about the "RFL Rabbit V2," an avatar modification. Not a complete avatar, but parts made to give another a purple coat of fur and other small changes, it was made by Astra Noctura (Silverskyranch) to raise money for the Relay for Life's Meli's Maniacs team. Deaf talked to her and a few from Team Sunbeamers whom had bought and used the mod.

Avatar Mod, Women's Nails, For Sale, Proceeds Going to Texas Hurricane Help

Often when there's a natural disaster, someone does a fundraiser of some kind in Second Life to raise a few dollars to help with the recovery effort. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which has brought a massive amount of flooding from a staggering amount of water being dropped onto the Texas coast, resulting in at least 47 dead as of the writing of this brief. Recovery is being described as a "multi-year project."

In Furry Fashion chat, I heard about a furry avatar mod, the "Houston Texas Mod - Toro" by "Project Mayhem." SynodaMae Sonnenkern states, "100% of the funds raised from this mod will go to the H-E-B Recovery Efforts. If you need proof or want to donate directly, click the following link. H-E-B is the largest grocery chain in Texas and has made MAJOR headway in the relief and recovery efforts for Houston, Rockport and Corpus Christi." In the link, H-E-B says "100% of donations will be distributed to the American Red Cross, area Texas Book Banks, Salvation Army, and Texas Search and Rescue/Cajun Navy."

There is one other item on the Second Life Marketplace aimed at Hurricane Harvey relief, though the cash is going to one family that "lost everything." Rowan Carroll of @rOrO is offering a set of nails, with a promise the money will go to help her friend's family.

In her honor, I’ve created these nails. ALL money is going to her and her family to help them get through this. Every little bit helps. Plus the nails are pretty cool too, right?
