Eye On The Blog: Creepy Crawl Call For Venues, Lab Gab Today

October means the Halloween season in Second Life. And part of Halloween in the Grid in recent years has been the "Creepy Crawl." For those who don't know, it's a Halloween-themed venue crawl, the inworld equivalent of a bar crawl in which a group of people go to a number of bars and spend just a little time at each, organized by Linden Lab. A few days ago, the Lab posted on the official blog that they were looking for venues to take part.

If you’d like to host a stop along the Creepy Crawl, own a spot that will be decked out for the holiday, and don’t mind if a parade of Residents and Lindens come through, then you might be just what the witch doctor ordered. We’re looking for spots that have entertainment (we like to dance around in our costumes!), are appropriate for general and moderate audiences, and can handle a crowd.

To get in, first of all, venues wanting to be part of the Crawl have to be listed in the Destination Guide. They also have to fill out and submit this online form before October 25. The Lab will choose several venues and notify them by email after October 25.

The Creepy Crawl will take place Thursday October 31 from 10AM to 2PM.

There will be another episode of "Lab Gab," the live-stream show hosted by Xiola and Strawberry Linden.

Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays in Second Life - when the veil between the other world and inworld is thinnest. Each year, we see events, parties, hunts, and costumes haunt even the farthest reaches of the Grid. It’s a great time of year to explore the elements of surprise and the unknown, and maybe even get a little scared. While dressing up is a year-round activity for many, there are some next-level looks that roam inworld.

This week, we’ll be talking about Halloween in Second Life as well as taking a field trip to venture into some Halloween-themed events. Join us as we wander the spooky, spoopy, and downright kooky side of Second Life!

Those interested can watch the show on Linden Lab's Youtube channel,or their new Mixer channel. The show is today, Wednesday October 9, at 3PM SL time.

Announcement For Linden Lab's Creepy Crawl And Costume Contest

Since 2015, Linden Lab has held a Halloween-themed venue-hopping event known as the "Creepy Crawl." Late last week, they announced they would be doing so again, along with a costume contest. For those who haven't heard of it, think of a bar crawl in which a group of people go to a bunch of bars, spending only a little time at each one.

Are you ready to have a screaming good time with fellow Residents - all in the name of the spirit of Halloween? While this holiday may not be shared the world over, it is a tradition in Second Life to dress up in your Halloween best and come out haunting for the annual Second Life Creepy Crawl and Costume Contest!

It’s going to be a monster mash-up at our Creepy Crawl - where we hop from venue to venue and enjoy some thrilling conversation and fun - with a de-frightfully fun Costume Contest twist!

We are in search of venues to host our stops on the crawl. This year’s Creepy Crawl will happen on Halloween (Wednesday, October 31st) from 10 am - 2 pm (SLT/PT).

Those venue owners interested in wanting their place as part of the Creepy Crawl need to be sure their place is in the Destinations Guide. If that's been done, they need to fill out this online form. Those selected will be notified after October 15.

For more details, check out the Linden Blog.

Schedule for "Creepy Crawl" Event

For the third year in a row, Linden Lab has organized a event on Halloween covering a number of venues, the "Creepy Crawl." The name comes from the term "bar crawl," in which a group of people visit a number of bars in a period of time, spending a little time at each one. For this Halloween-themed event, those taking part will head to several venues from 10AM to 2PM or afterwards, the list being announced by Xiola Linden on the afternoon of October 30.

10AM to 10:30 AM: All Hallows at Moochie  - Moochie (170/200/23)

10:30 AM to 11:00 AM: Bay City's Halloween Maze - North Channel (128/128/24)

11:00 AM to 11:30 AM: Dance Island - Dance Island (131/206/27)

11:30 AM to 12:00 Noon: Scare Me Silly 2017 - Water Haven (149/136/23)

12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM: Pumpkin Smash Fight - Pumpkin Fight Arena (112/6/31)

1:00 PM to 1:30 PM: Club End of Days - End of Days (233/245/503)

1:30 PM to 2:00PM: ShenaniganS Haunted House - Leodegrance (59/72/70)

As part of the fun, there will be a costume contest with a 5000 Linden dollar prize.

One feature new to the Creepy Crawl will be a Halloween-themed version of the Linden Snowball Fight: "The Pumpkin Fight."

In the middle of all the dancing and costume contest winning, we’ll make a stop at the old snowball fight arena  - where things have taken a twist for the twisted. Shooting pumpkins has never been more fun. That’s from noon to 1 pm (SLT) at the Pumpkin Fight Arena - but you can get some practice in before then!

So be sure to stop by for some "spook-tacular" fun.

Linden Lab Calls For Venues For "Cree[y Crawl"

For the third year in a row, Linden Lab will be organizing a "Creepy Crawl" event. Xiola Linden posted the details on the official Second Life blog.

Are you unafraid of things that go bump in the night? Love a screaming good time with fellow Residents, and dressing up in your Halloween best? Well, it is that time of year when once more - a-haunting we will go!

Once again, we’re going to monster mash-up our annual Creepy Crawl with some de-frightfully fun Costume Contests - but we need your venues to host our stops on the crawl. This year’s Creepy Crawl will happen on Halloween ( Tuesday, October 31st) from 10 am - 2 pm (PT).

If you’d like to host a stop along the Creepy Crawl, own a spot that will be decked out for the holiday, and don’t mind if a parade of Residents and Lindens come through, then you might be just what the witch doctor ordered. We’re looking for spots that will have music, are appropriate for general and moderate audiences, and can handle a crowd.

For those who don't know, the event gets it's name from the term "bar crawl," in which a group of people go to a bunch of bars in a night, spending a little time (and money) in one before heading on to the next.

For those interested in having their venue up, to begin with they need to be listed in the Destination Guide.(for those who don't know how, you can find out here). To register for the crawl, click here and fill out the form before October 15. The Lab says to keep an eye out for either an email, a notecard, or both, and that not all of those who apply will be chosen.

Xiola says details of the Crawl's costume contest, and it's schedule will be posted soon, presumably between the 15th and Halloween.

What A Halloween

Halloween is loads of fun, not just outside of Second Life but in. There were the Halloween haunts, the Halloween parties, and the "Creepy Crawl" with the Lindens. All holidays have to end, but the stories told and pictures published go on. But it takes a little time to write the stories and put up the pictures, so give us at the Newser a little time.

Do you the readers have any Halloween stories? If so, we'd like to hear them.

Details of Linden Lab's Creepy Crawl And Costume Contest

Last year on Halloween, Linden Lab organized an inworld venue crawl for the holiday, the "Creepy Crawl." The event was such a success, in terms of the numbers and the fun held by all, that at the beginning of the month they announced they were going to have a second one, asking for venues to step forward to be part of it. And yesterday on their blog, Xiola Linden announced the schedule for the event this upcoming Monday.

This Halloween - Monday, October 31st from 10:00am SLT until 3:00pm SLT - you are most cordially invited to join us inworld for the 2016 Second Life Creepy Crawl! Those who joined us for last year’s crawl know what it’s all about – but we’ve added a few twists this year, so everyone should read on for the details. The Second Life Creepy Crawl is a bit like a good old fashioned pub crawl, but no cab fare or designated driver is needed as we roam from spooky spot to spooky spot for music, dancing, and celebrating in our finest of Halloween costumes!

Dressing up for the event will do more than just looking cool. It just might get you some cash. At every stop of the Creepy Crawl, someone with an especially good Halloween look will get a 5,000 Linden dollar prize. There's also a freebie gift waiting for you at each stop.

Costumes are strongly encouraged for this event - so come out and show off your best and you could win big! This year, at EVERY stop on our crawl, we will be giving away L$5,000 to one lucky winner whose costume catches our eye. That’s 10 stops, 10 winners, and a total of L$50,000 in prizes! Just keep in mind that this event is for General and Moderate audiences when perfecting your look. For full contest rules please visit the wiki. If you still need a costume or three - check out the Shop 'til You Drop event for your one stop Halloween party shopping.

Boudoir has graciously offered an exclusive treat that you can grab from one of the gift vendors at each stop – one gift per Resident.

Linden Lab Asks For Venues in "Creepy Crawl" and "Halloween Shopping Event"

Last year, Linden Lab organized a "Creepy Crawl" event, a kind of inworld bar crawl that took place across a variety of venues and other public locations across Second Life in which dozens of residents and a number of Lindens took part. The event was so popular, the Lab is organizing another. Xiola Linden had a few things to say.

Are you interested in hosting a stop along our Second Life Creepy Crawl? We’re looking for spots that will have music, are appropriate for general and moderate audiences, and don’t mind having a few Lindens and Residents dropping in all at once to dance and hang out for a bit.

The Crawl will take place on Halloween Day, October 31. No starting time has been given yet (last year it was 10AM SL time), so residents are asked to stay tuned for details. For those who want to take part ...

  1. Make sure your place is listed in the Destination Guide - here’s how to submit.
  2. Hop over to this form and fill it out before October 21st - we’ll start selecting the venues after that!
  3. Keep an eye out for an email and/or notecard after the 21st to let you know if your venue was selected.
If this year's Creepy Crawl is anything like last year's, it's sure to be lots of fun.

In addition, Linden Lab is also organizing a "Halloween Shopping Event" to help residents find Halloween outfits and avatars (and encourage the buying of Linden dollars).

Halloween is just around the corner and we’re trying something new that will help Residents find their perfect costumes, and help Merchants reach new customers. If you’re a Merchant who specializes in costumes and other Halloween-themed items-, and would like to participate, please fill out this form for a chance to be considered for our upcoming shopping event running from October 21 - 31. Selected Merchants will be offered a booth to display and sell some of their items at a special discounted price to shoppers.

Applying merchants are asked to "keep a General-rated audience in mind," and to fill out the form to apply fairly quickly.

Scenes From The "Creepy Crawl"

Last weekend, there were a number of events across Second Life. Among them was one organized by Linden Lab, the "Creepy Crawl." Here, those taking part would travel from venue to venue every half hour. So people got to enjoy several places, in addition to saying they partied with some Lindens.

See the pictures in Events.

Weekend in Brief

It was a weekend full of events. The big thing was Halloween, and the big events were themed around it to some degree. Friday had the Linden Lab organized "Creepy Crawl," which had a few Lindens taking part. Saturday, Halloween Day, had Team Firestorm's Halloween party, which doubled as it's celebration for it's upcoming community gateway. Clubs, communities, and groups would hold various Halloween parties that day, such as American Cancer Society Island, Luskwood, and of course the Newser's neighbors the Sunweavers. Sunday saw the Pony community of Nissan hold it's "Day of the Dead" party. These and other events we couldn't be at took place.

Eventually, we'll get to some of these events when we can, But for now, time for rest and real-life work.

Eye on the Blog: "Friday's Inworld Creepy Crawl!"

With Halloween approaching, things are getting a little spooky in Second Life. And Linden Lab is helping to get into the act with it's "Creepy Crawl." Earlier this month, the Lab called for venues to help be a part of it. On Wednesday, they posted on their blog the list of places taking part on the event taking place tomorrow on Friday October 30.

This Friday, October 30th from 10:00am SLT until 3:00pm SLT - you are most cordially invited to join us inworld for the 2015 Second Life Creepy Crawl! “What is the Creepy Crawl?” you may ask. It’s going to be a bit like a ‘pub crawl’ without the need for taxi fare.

Costumes are strongly encouraged for this event - so come out and show off your best. I am still deciding between 4 different costume choices I've put together and may have to wear all 4 at some point during the crawl. It’s a good thing we’ll have 5 hours to run amok and have fantastical fun. Just keep in mind that this event is for General and Moderate audiences when perfecting your look.

The times and locations are:

10 AM SL time: Bay City Hallowe'en Hay Maze: North Channel (128/128/24)

10:30 AM : Dance Island: Dance Island (34/219/22)

11 AM : Vampyr Empire: Transylvania (47/207/31)

11:30 AM : The Truth About Bats and Avies : Snow Crash (24/15/22)

Eye On the Blog: "Second Life Creepy Crawl 2015 - Call for Venues"

Xiola Linden posted in the official Second Life blog about the "Creepy Crawl," a list of Halloween-themed venues for Friday October 30, the weekday before Halloween.

A-haunting we will go! This year we’re going to take inworld meetups and Halloween shenanigans and mix them together for a frightful mashup of mind-blowingly fun times. But - we need your help to make it happen.
Are you interested in hosting a stop along our Second Life Creepy Crawl? We’re looking for spots that will have music, are appropriate for general and moderate audiences, and don’t mind having a few Lindens and Residents dropping in all at once to dance and hang out for a bit.
The Creepy Crawl will be taking place on October 30th - more details to follow for those who just want to come along for the fun! But for those interested is potentially being a stop along the crawl - here’s what you should do.

  1. Make sure your place is listed in the Destination Guide - here’s how to submit.
  2. Hop over to this form and fill it out before October 20th - we’ll start selecting the venues after that!
  3. Keep an eye out for an email and/or notecard after the 20th to let you know if your venue was selected.
Remember, only General and Moderate themed venues can take part. So clubs in residential areas that are Adult-rated cannot take part.
