Puddle Jumper Mall Steamwork Clock

The Puddle Jumper Mall at Sunlight Bay in the Sunweaver community's a fun place to shop, with it's selection of freebies and the train service, as well as the nearby airport Farshore Field. But recently something was added, a steampunk clock.

Besides the dial, there's some animated pistons that move and keep the clock working  It also whistles every hour and half hour.

Winter Arrives in the Sunweaver Estates, Caledon

Winter has been coming to parts of Second Life, and it's finally arrived in the neighborhood the Newser office makes it's home in. Or rather part of it. Sunlight Bay, the sim to the east of HV Community where the office is, has gotten a dusting of snow. So pilots at Farshore Field and shoppers at the Puddle Jumper may have to contend with slippery ground.

Not all of the Sunweaver lands have snow. More than one person has stated they'd rather not deal with any of the white stuff, getting plenty of it in reality. So some of the Sunny sims are still green.

Snow has already fallen at the Steampunk community of Caledon. At Caledon Downs, Cynthia Farshore has her Christmas Express ride up and running. In the past there's been plenty of other attractions at Xmas such as ski slopes in the area. This will likely be the case this season.

The Puddle Jumper Mall

While the Sunweaver Estates is primarily a residential area, there are some places to shop there. One of the larger ones is the Puddle Jumper Mall in the Sunlight Bay sim. It is owned by Cynthia Farshore.

Stepping inside, the small middle area has a couple tables one can sit and have a cold drink. The west wing is a freebie area, with many of the goods that were previously in the Arcadia Asylum Library that had closed in January.  Here, there are a number of old but useful items. This includes textures that can be used to help make items (while they can be given away, they cannot be sold).

The east wing has a number of goods up for sale.  There are a number of items of clothing such as Victorian wear from Zan's, and other eras from Ancient Times to the Colonial Era to the Wild West. There's also jewelry, swords and staves, sci-fi style armor, furniture of both fantasy and sci-fi settings, airport structures, typing animations, and more. A few items such as the Swimmer HUD are for practically nothing.

The second floor of the mall has only a few items up for sake so far, aimed at products in music such as keyboards. There will be more items in the future.

The mall is next to Farshore Field, the Sunweaver community's airport .

Arcadia Asylum Library in Sunweaver Estates Closing

Some sad news for the fans of the Arcadia Asylum Library in HV Community, just down the road from the Newser office. The building will soon be closing. Possibly as soon as today.

Earlier Prof. Grey (BrianL61 Landar) had announced the upcoming end of the place.

Dear Friends,

It saddens me to announce that the Sunweaver branch of the Arcadia Asylum Library and freebie center will be closing on Februrary 1st 2021.

Due to Real Life demands the $1000.00 U.S. Dollars I spend each year in world must now be diverted to home repair and maintenance.

Eventually, someone approached Prof. Grey about the upcoming close, Cynthia Farshore. Yesterday, Wednesday January 27, I met up with them at the Arcadia building and they told me about the plans they had made. Prof Gray told me, "I'm shutting down this location and have turned over control of Anilis to another curator. In real life, my father in law (85) is starting chemo and the money i would spend in Second Life is needed in real life. ... He's a tough old goat, he'll make it through this."

As for what happens to the freebie store, Cynthia informed, "I am about to rebuild the old Puddle Jumper (mall) back on the (Farshore) airfield. So one section will be the Library. The new build will have a center lobby and wings opposite each over. One side is the freebie the other various sellers. So there will be a gap but in the end the freebies will still be around." She had plans for the items other than just the Sunweaver lands, "Also I'll have to check but hopefully I can also add the freebies to the Emporium in Caledon.

Prof. Grey added, "With a selection of 9487 free items she can rotate the goodies when ever she wants and keep it fresh, so to speak. Hazelee Haller is the new owner of Anilis Library she is expanding her current land holding and will be relocating Anilis to that sim. I will be taking this location down starting tomorrow (Thursday January 28) most likely."

Eventually, Prof. Gray had to check up on his father-in-law, and had to go. And so that may have been the last time I set foot in the Sunweaver Arcadia building, of which some of Gray's builds across the road have made the Newser a few times. While the Arcadia Asylum Library may be going away, the freebies will remain as part of another store.

The Puddle Jumper Mall Introduces a Local Builder and More

The Puddle Jumper Mall has opened a new vendor line consisting of aircraft and airport equipment manufactures. One aircraft manufacturer is our own local Jessicabelle Dayafter owner of Skunkette Aviation. Her product line consist of vintage World War II planes that was present during this years Relay for Life Air show where a rezzer was used for visitors to be allowed to fly. The rezzer has been inactive until now! You can rezz a plane and try it before you buy and is located in front of the store in the corner of taxiway and runway 34. The other aircraft manufacturer is Cloud Dancer Aviation with a wide assortment of aircraft type too numerous to list here. Flywalker Aviation Outfitters brings in a very large assortment of airport buildings, and ground equipment.

In an effort to make your shopping easier The Puddle Jumper Mall has connected with Podex Exchange and has installed an ATM. So now no need to have to leave to get money from the inworld exchange located at the Coda sim (45, 218, 61) and run the risk of running into a naturally masked ring-tailed bandit named Clumsy Cooper. Though this criminal seems to operate as well as Wild E. Coyote and the only harm he has cause is busted guts from laughter. Still the Podex Exchange system is considered one of the safest in Second Life. A telephone hotline to Cynthia Farshore the owner is installed located next to the Podex ATM by the stairs. The phone will leave messages if she is not on-line.

Speaking of stairs, it’s Halloween and the second floor has many items usable for this holiday. This includes witches hats, spell books, portals, and typing overrides that can give you that extra level above the rest.

The Puddle Jumper

In the top of the Sunweaver Estates group is a region called Pacific Waters owned by Cynthia Farshore who has made it totally open to the public. The main feature on the sim is Farshore Field, a small one strip airfield to be used by all. Nestled up in a corner of the airfield is The Puddle Jumper Mall owned and operated by Cynthia Farshore, a two story building located at Pacific Waters (62, 89, 31).

The Puddle Jumper's start was very slow and after months of her own product construction being constantly put on hold, Cynthia came across an idea other sellers had started, affiliate selling. She realized that filling this mall with just aviation items was not going to lead to much. So the answer was to department the store. After some contacts, she was able to pull in quality products that covered a wide range of subjects. There is Talevin's Designs which covers magic supplies, portals, magician typing overrides, weapons, jewelry, and even tiny petite products for fairies.

As far as the modern world, in addition to her own creations Cynthia has brought in products from J&L Creations to cover building tools, low prim houses, skyboxes and the tools to make one, Landscape gardening, scripting gadgets.

In addition to being the Owner of an airfield and store Cynthia is a DJ so no surprise she would bring in electronics. Two large vendors from DSL Records stuffed with 101 items from a complete DJ stage to DJ animations and equipment. A wide assortment of guitars, drum sets, pianos, keyboards, speakers, Media player TVs, radio tuners and audio controls. Now in her latest move, she’s proud to announce that The Puddle Jumper is an official reseller of The Golden Oriole steampunk merchandize! The mall has become as a department store containing Medieval/Fantasy; Contemporary; Electronic; and finally a Steampunk section. Ever looking for new items she hopes to increase the inventory into clothing lines next along with the possibility of reinstalling rental space.
