Attention, Second Life musicians! Do you have an incredible yet unexpected singing voice? FOX TV is now casting amazing U.S.-based singers for the new nex-gen talent competition “Alter Ego,” which is scheduled to air Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. on FOX TV immediately following “The Masked Singer” this fall.
“Alter Ego” is an all-new original singing competition where lost dreams and second chances are reignited when singers from all walks of life become the stars they’ve always wanted to be. However, these contestants won’t perform as themselves. Rather, they’ll be given the chance to show how they’ve always wanted to be seen, creating their dream avatar to reinvent themselves and perform like never before.

There are also questions such as, "What personal struggles have you had to overcome?" and are asked to submit a one minute video of themselves singing "to an instrumental track."

Last weekend was the Kentucky Derby in real life. In Second Life, Gemma Cleanslate went to a Kentucky Derby party at Areo Pines park, which has had a history with horses with it's riding along nature trails. During the party, Cindy Bolero, the owner of Areo Pines, had a special announcment.
After three years, the Second Life TV show "Designing Worlds" is leaving the Northpoint sim where filming had been done. A few days ago, the staff held a going-away party to celebrate the Treet TV show's success. Among those attending, Netera Landar whom had a chance to talk to the co-hosts about the program.A fun and fond farewell to the much-loved Alien Isles sims with owners Judi Newall and Lorin Tone. What is really occurring is a shift of priorities for us. Because the market is still quite small, Texas and I need to engage in Treet only part time. Using 100% of that time to film has left us with time for nothing else. Exciting changes to the website, new promotional features, and an exciting “Timeline of Virtual History” archive site never even have been started, not to mention many improvements in distribution, iPad and iPhone support, etc. We feel such innovations are necessary in this industry. So, shifting our priorities away from live filming is important for us to create more enabling technologies to help people contribute shows, manage shows, and get the most out of archives. We are committed to enhancing and enabling the community. Our website, resources, and streams will not only remain live, but we’ll be seeking ways to expand their availability to more and more people, and establish programs for showing people how we’ve achieved what we’ve achieved.Virtual Tonight's First Episode finally went online a few days ago. Sam Nightfire interviewed a number of guests, notably Jessica Lyon of the Phoenix Viewer team whom had a few things to say concerning her group's past and present. For this first show there were several guests. First was Ray Hoffman, a builder and architect who owns the Envision Design and Envision Design & Architectural University, as well as the one who build the studio for Virtual Tonight. Also were Vista Coba and Nesto Quatro, the owners of the Virtual Realty Football League. The League had several teams, and to answer Sam’s question, yes they are still hiring cheerleaders. The musical guests were Automotive Quandry and the Automatic Band. The band had volunteered to do the theme song for the show.
The most noted guest was Jessica Lyon, the head of the Phoenix Viewer development team. It didn’t take long for the Emeraldgate issue to come up, and Jessica told Sam and the audience that her staff had learned a number of lessons from the scandal, and had set protocols in place to make sure nothing like that would ever happen with Phoenix. Unlike Emerald, Phoenix was devoted to transparency, she stated, so all changes to the viewer code would be published on the website as they happened.
Further tapings will be every Sunday evening at 8PM SL time at Virtual World Network (49, 58, 1010). The show “will have an array of topics ranging from current events and cultural trends to politics, comedy and more, all while bringing viewers closer to their favorite celebrities and notable public figures with revealing, compelling interviews.” It is owned by Virtual World Network, and produced by Ishelwood Studio. The shows will later be up for viewing on the Virtual World Network website, “sometime in January.”
Ever want to be on TV? Well, Second Life offers opportunities to appear there. This even includes game shows. On Tuesday the 29th, I was invited to appear on “The 1st Question,” a show that’s both funny and entertaining, with it’s creative use of science trivia questions.
