Fifty Foot Vixen At The Newser Office

It's not often I see huge avatars other than dragons, also known as macros, going around, especially outside the Fantasy Faire. But after a conversation with Kalista Phoenix on Discord, we met up at the Newser office. Her height was, impressive, close to fifty feet tall.

We may meet again at the Fantasy Faire, or perhaps sooner.

And no, she's not interested in attacking, unlike a certain other fifty foot lady (song).

RFL Sunbeamers: Keeping Up Appearances

Lately, a few of Team Sunbeamers have had different looks than usual. It was last Friday May 8 that the team reached Jade level fundraising. Yours truly had been in a rabbit look for weeks after "Bid Me Bunny." But I'd promised to go green for a week if we reached the half million mark. So since the team did, I did.

Readers also remembered that for Shockwave Yareach's and Cynthia Farshore's recent "Bid Me" events, the results were a rare vote to keep them as before. To make sure those whom voted for a change weren't too disappointed, they went ahead and appeared as the most requested change for the Wednesday night dance at Club Cutlass, Shockwave being a buck goat and Cynthia as a vixen.

For the couple, it was just one day, and for yours truly, it's back to normal today.

KVXN's New Logo

KVXN got it's start in 2011 as Nydia Tungsten's 24/7 radio station for fans to listen to between her DJ sessions. It got a following in the Sunweaver/Angels community with nicknames like "Rita's other white meat" (Rita Mariner is the leader of the Sunweavers). But in recent months, KVXN has gone through some changes. Now a full fledged Internet radio station, many of it's listeners tune in from outside Second Life. With the change comes a new shiny logo. It was revealed yesterday.

"For a good time with a bad girl, KVXN Radio."

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at Club Cutlass. Nope, you're not seeing double. Usually there's only one vixen with this particular appearance on the dance floor. But there was an exception one night.

Team Sunbeamer's "Bid Me Foxy"

With the first round of "Bid Me" events by Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers raising over 53,000 Lindens, it was just a mater of time before someone else stepped up to put their looks on the line. Someone did, and once again, there's a pair of "Bid Me" kiosks at Club Cutlass. The volunteer is someone taking part in a "Bid Me" for the first time: Cynthia Farshore.

"Having been a goat my entire SL life," Cynthia told the Newser readers, "I challenge you to change me. Recently Liska changed to goat much like me now you get the chance to make me like her, a Red Fox! L$2000 gets me fox for one week."

So it seems Liska's "Bid Me Goat" has taken things full circle with Cynthia offering to make herself the same type of fox avatar Liska has been. As the picture shows, the bidding has already started. So how long will Cynthia be without her horns and hooves and have a taste for chicken? That depends on how much is donated, and if it's more than the default kiosk which if it gets the most means she stays as she is.

In the meantime, the team total continues to go up, closing in on the 400,000 Linden dollar mark. This is four-fifths on the way to Sapphire rank, which Team Sunbeamer has never before reached but stands a good chance of doing so this year. One member has pledged to go purple for a week if this happens.

Classic SLN Cartoons: "Looking Naughty"

The cartoon originally appeared in the Second Life Newspaper in 2008, taken at Luskwood. It was extra funny as she actually spoke this line word for word.

She did have a point, sometimes it's better to leave things to the imagination. ;-)

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at the Wulfenback Winter Games, the vixen was actually a ladylike winner. But no doubt this is what some were thinking.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken a few years ago at a Second Life club, I came across this while looking at old pics. I thought of my old friend "Hortmage" of the "Freefall" and "Cross Time Cafe" online comic buliten boards whom in the past was subject to repeated jokes after he posted about his daughter's reaction to a frisky cartoon someone installed as wallpaper on his computer as a joke, "Mom! Dad's looking at naked foxes again!"

While this dancing girl isn't naked, I still thought of old Hort.

Interview with Tantari Kim

In this time when Second Life is celebrating being officially a decade old, Grease Coakes recently interviewed one of the residents whom was around from the first days, Tantari Kim. Tantari talked about how she found out about the early Second Life, and what virtual life was like in the world's first days.

SL Newser Radio Ad on KVXN Vixen Radio

Shockwave Yareach recently voiced and made this radio ad for the KVXN Radio Station. It plays between songs on the stream, at random times.

"For a second look at Second Life."

KVXN Vixen Radio

DJ and club owner Nydia Tungsten now has a new title, radio station owner. She calls it KVXN Vixen Radio, and it can be heard at her clubs or on the Internet.

Nydia told Second Life Newser she had first got the idea when, “I had finished a marathon set of 8 hours and told Rita (Rita Mariner the Sunweaver Estate owner) would just let the stream go, and she told me ‘go ahead, hardly any of the radio tabs work anyways.’ And I started thinking since I stream to my parcels almost 24/7 anyways, might as well call it a radio station.”

“I had forgot about it until a few days ago when I was with some friends and it came up (in conversation), and we began throwing out funny slogans, like ‘KVXN Vixen radio...Rita's other white meat.’ Daan (Daaneth Kivioq, a leader of the “Passionate Redheads” RFL team) was throughing them out so you KNOW some were off the wall, ‘KVXN Vixen radio...we may not be better than sex......but it's hella foreplay.’ “

“Soo the other day, I decided to go ahead and do it. If it does well, I will get a larger stream. ... I have a few people listening right now. I have a little bit of everything.” She told me her listeners were all at the Cutlass club for the moment, who wanted 80’s music, so the majority of her tunes at the moment were from the 80’s. Besides Nydia’s venues, residents of the Sunweaver Estates, have started tuning their private homes to her stream. Nydia says she may also put up a few ads in the near future, though they'll need to be catchy and entertaining themselves to hold the audience.

For those who want to hear Vixen Radio outside Nydia’s places, there is a KVXN group one can join for the stream URL, or just bookmark it here: http://www.st-media.ca:8110/

It should be noted Nydia is sometimes known as DJ “Naughty” Nydia as some of her music can be a bit riskee at certain times, “KVXN Vixen Radio where the random tunes are ..... random.”

“KVXN Vixen Radio, it isn’t just for foxy people any more.”
