Ichie Kamachi at Making Strides Event

On October 21, singer Ichie Kamachi performed live at the at Making Strides event at the Chive Avent Area in the Terravia Island sim. She sung from 4 to 5 PM SL time.

How much was raised in her particular hour is unknown, but over 37,000 Lindens had been donated during the course of the event by the time she was done.

The high point of the Making Strides For Breast Cancer fundraising season is today, Saturday October 29, when The Walk takes place, starting at Noon SL time.

Scenes From the RFL Christmas Expo

It's been a busy week for the Newser crew, especially for Gemma Cleanslate who volunteered to help out at one of the biggest events in Second Life: The Relay for Life Christmas Expo. But yours truly was able to drop by to get a few pictures.

One of the events there was a performance on the Eylsium stage, high above the Frozen sim, on Sunday December 6. The cupcake-shaped seats were close to filled as a number of staff danced around on stage.

Some of the scenes were very well done. The glowing lines on this picture were left by the sparkles on the girl's hands.

Also a big draw: The DJ stage. A number of musicians have been performing there.

Among those who played on Sunday were the noted Jaycatt and Frogg. Their act differed from usual as Frogg Marlowe's normal amphibian avatar was gone and looked more like his real-life self. But his music was the same crowd-drawing and applause-getting as before. Jaycatt Nico was his usual furred self as he played the piano.

The singers would play throughout the week. On Thursday, Ichie Kamachi, whom the Newser recently interviewed, graced the crowd with her velvet voice. With Santa not far away, she had to save her more mischievous songs for other venues.

The Christmas Expo continues, so drop on by the Expo sims, south of the American Cancer Society sim, and enjoy the music and shopping. You might even run into a certain white-bearded fellow in a red suit.

Club Deviant Indulgence

One of the newest and hottest clubs to hit SL is Club Deviant Indulgence, located at  Madagascar (203, 217, 21).  The club is sleek, modern, and boasts a huge dance floor.    Their motto is “Feast on your wild side “, and their goal is to be the club to come to for a sexy, fun time.  They are off to a great start.   At their grand opening, which was held less than two weeks ago, an amazing eighty-seven (87!) SL residents came to dance, play, and party.  

The club is owned by Carla Darkwyr and Ŕєρ́σ ̴I̴v̶er̴s͡son (repojock), who are partners in both business and SL.   Carla, who has been in SL since 2010, told me she met Repo on his third day in SL.   She said she “befriended this noob and helped him turn one of his dreams into reality.”   Repo’s dream was to have a club, and Carla helped him build the Ice Bar and the Bald Beaver.    Over the past two years their friendship has grown and deepened, and they became partners on June 28 this year. 

On the business side of SL, the two have owned and operated separate clubs prior to combining their expertise in Club Deviant Indulgence.  Carla owns The Classy Tease with live singer Ichie Kamachi and Club Virtual Insanity with resident Lily Rootcreeper.  She also owns Darkwyr Muses Talent Agency.   Repo has owned other clubs in the past, including The Icebar and Bald Beaver as well as Sisters of Anarchy,  Tammy’s Roadhouse  and the first Tigeropolis  Club.     In addition to his SL experience  Repo bring RL expertise into SL.   Repo DJ’s and produces a weekly radio show that airs on goddessradio.net on Sunday evenings, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST.


They are combining their experience and expertise to make Club Deviant Indulgence a lively and fun site.   The Club will run seven days a week, from 2 pm. to midnight SL time.  On Tuesdays there will be live music, and on Thursdays there will be karaoke from 8 to 10 SL time.   Ichie Kamachi is one of the musicians who will perform live.   In addition to Repo, 8pin and Midnight DJ’d during the grand opening.  They are expected to continue wow’ing the crowds with their music, although the schedule for both DJ’s and live performers is still a work in progress.

Repo told me they plan to play “a mix from live music to karaoke to rock and pop.”  He said they may even play country “on occasion”.   Their goal is to create a friendly and inviting club.   Repo said their plan is to offer “top notch entertainment”, as well as contests, hunts, and high value prizes.

They want residents to have the best possible club experience.  They have invested in the best and most reliable sound system available.  In addition, they have installed a chat floor so that residents can chat comfortably throughout the whole club without having to shout.   The chat floor covers a large area, from the landing point outside the club to the back of the stage, as well as extending to both sides.

Both Repo and Carla stressed that all residents are welcome here, including furries, tinies, vampires, and everyone in between.   “We don’t discriminate at all here,” Repo said.  “We invite everyone to come have fun.”  “Fun is the key,” he said.   Carla agreed, although she noted their club isn’t a good place for kids.   All adults, however, are definitely welcome.

Both Repo and Carla are friendly and outgoing.  They both said that one of the things they like about running a club is that they get to meet different people from around the world and those from different lifestyles.   During our interview, numerous people wandered into the club, even though we met before regular club hours.   Both Repo and Carla greeted them and made sure they felt welcomed.   Carla said they have hired a personable, friendly staff, too.     They are currently looking for additional friendly, talented residents to work at the Club.   They have openings for a variety of positions, including DJ’s, hosts, and dancers.    Anyone interested should contact Kati Lorgsval or Malice Marsault for details.

Outside the club is a mall area with a variety of small shops.   Sweet Temptations and Caffeine were two of the shops that offered some wilder clothes choices.   There was also a kiosk that sold motor scooters and a photo sphere.

Club Virtual Insanity

"Because We're All Mad Here." That's the motto of a club I was recently shown around, Club Virtual Insanity. Sitting on a sky platform high over the Twilight Shadows sim, the club offers parties six out of seven days a week, with a variety of music genres played.

Dropping in on the club, it was shaped like a bent giant top hat. There was a party going on, which included a couple dozen people. Among them was Carla Darkwyr, who told me the place was built by Lily Rootcreeper and Doctor Blackheart. Ichie Kamachi, a live musician, was relaxing there before her live music act later in the evening. The audience and staff were having a good time, sometimes "singing" along with the music in chat, "Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on!" The side stage had a half ball chair, black on the inside and with teeth on the top edge and a "tongue" hanging out the bottom, underneath a sign for the club, "Club Virtual Insanity."

Currently, the club is open six days a week, "Although we are trying for seven," Carla told me, "12 Noon to 12 Midnight." The club plays, "any genre... blues.. jazz.. hip hop.. electronic.. rock.. i'm thinking of spinning some hawaiian music." When asked if a particular kind of music more than others, Carla answered "maybe classic rock, but it is pretty eclectic. … We give (the DJs)pretty free rein to do what they want, so it's fun for them as well as our guests." They have live music events about every week or two, "Ichie and Scarletrose Damour sang last Sunday."

Besides listening to the tunes, there's a trivia ball in which the people can test their knowledge. They have some plans for some special trivia events with large jackpots for the winners. Carla also mentioned a "Mad Hatter" building contest, "builders can contact Lily or myself. We will charge for the 'booths,' then the public can come and judge. (The) winner gets a percentage of the booth fees." The contest is expected to be sometime in July. Lily would later explain that there would be a video of it made to promote "the spirit of the club."

Virtual Insanity also plans some charity events, "We are doing World Day and art auctions for charity in the next couple months. Our opening day was a benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project … all live music." Several musicians performed, "Brixton Canning, Laidback Celt, JC Farstrider, Gina Gracemount, Blueron Clyburn, Terrytoon and Blonde, Anek Fuchs  and Ichie (Kamachi) closed out the night." They also plan on having charity events for autism, cancer, and hopefully "Feed a Smile."

Despite how the team can go like clockwork, there have been a few hilarious bloopers. Carla told about one goof when one of the girls on the dance floor fell asleep, "We wanted to send her home, her family didn't want to leave her here," So they damage-enabled the club, and "I used some gadget" to reduce her hit points to zero to have her vanish and reappear at her home. But it didn't go as planned, "Poof! All the women disappeared." But it was late and they were about to go anyway, so they just had a good laugh in chat before signing off, "I felt so bad though … I told them I'm blonde under all this black hair."

Carla suggested I talk to Lily, as she was one of the more inventive minds around here. As it turned out, Lily was a pixie-sized human avatar. Mentioning Carla's complement of her, Lily commented, "She means I'm crazy (laughter)." Of the club's design, "I wanted it to be simple and fun, and easily modifiable so we can change it in a flash. We 'dress' the club for different events, things are on rezzers and such." As an example, she showed off the club's formal look by bringing out the ballroom, "We rezz it to suit our DJs who play here on Sundays, and we we usually do some live singing (then)."

Besides the charity events, Lily mentioned there would be a burlesque night, "we gots a troupe who does burlesque dances," but this would be mostly flirty and teasing, "we're not into the hardcore sex stuff in Second Life." She also mentioned plans for a "speed dating" night, "we like using our time to help peeps and promote their interests. … we know in SL relationship finding is a thing peeps want ta do."

"Mostly, we want the club to be a fun place. Not too restrictive. And we wanted it to have a greater purpose."
