Reader Submitted: Relay Track Length, Playdolls Float

Kamida Delec decided to walk the length of the Relay track, "Looks like the track is about 9500 meters long. (That's 31,167.98 feet or 5.90 miles.) (I) started at Sunbeamers, ended at more or less the same spot."

"Looks like some people are testing out their rides. They passed a few minutes ago. "

Kamida Delec also had a couple pictures from when she walked the track earlier.

Winding Up To The Relay Weekend

As the Relay Weekend approaches. and more and more camps have been finished or almost done, some people are having some fun on the track, either looking around or doing things. Yesterday at Team ES's campsite, there was a small party with DJ Cryptto spinning the tunes.

At one point someone swiped his wallet. It was a case of missing Crypttocurrency.

There was also some dancing around at the Second Life Cheerleaders Squad camp.

At one point I saw this float going down the track, from the Playdolls team. The team captain messaged me and saw me, saying they were taking full advantage of there being less lag before the weekend.

There's some great builds out there. See them when you can, before during after the big weekend.

Go Relay!

Cartoon of The Day: Winged Floatie

Taken while shopping. This float got my attention as it had bat wings. With my sense of humor, I was wondering if it was someone's idea of "water wings."

SL17B Swaginator Hunt

Like other Second Life Birthday celebrations in the past few years, this one has a gift hunt by Linden Lab. Called the "Swaginator," the objective here is to go from one destination after another, collecting the gifts, or "swag," along the way.

To get the gifts, you'll need the HUD. The SL17B Swaginator HUD is at the entrance area of the Birthday grounds at SL17B Beguile (16/117/53) , a short walk from where you TP in. Finding the sign, touch it to get your LDPW - SL17B Swaginator HUD.

Wearing the HUD, you get a clue to where the first gift is, as well as a location to port to. Getting to the first spot, the Swaginator both won't be immediately in sight, but some distance away on another side of the structure next to you. The second one, the gift will be inside a place some distance away, but still on the island you're at. The third gift was the hardest for me to find, but eventually I did (it's not in a different sim). The ones afterward were easier to find.

There are a total of six gifts to grab in the SL17B Swaginator hunt. The gifts consist of three "floaties," including one that's really a raft, and three mole garden gnomes. There's no bonus for finding all six. Just the challenge of a little game, and a few items you're likely to find some use out of this simmer in Second Life.

Don't forget to check the SL17B grounds, notably the gift shop area, for some more gifts.

See you there!

* * * * *
The 2nd Annual Rosehaven Regatta is August 18th, 2019 from Noon (12pm) SLT – 2pm SLT.
Once again, we will be featuring the ANYTHING THAT FLOATS…BUT IS NOT A BOAT contest and water race!  Hope you all are excited!!

Get your thinking caps on and create something fantastical…that is NOT A BOAT, but it does float!  The purpose of this event is to showcase your ability to design and build a water craft/vessel to travel in the water.  You must also be able to ride your floating invention.

Please let Duchess Liz Wilner or Oriella Charik know if you wish to enter.  All entries must be received and approved by no later than 11am SLT, August 18th for announcing at the Regatta. Prizes will be awarded for the ‘Most Unique’ and the ‘Fastest Vessel’.

This is a timed race. Depending on the number of participants, crews and their crafts will be lined up at the start/finish line, proceed down the canal to a designated turning point, go around a marker buoy, and proceed up canal back to start/finish line. There will be an official at the turn around the buoy to verify all contestants properly negotiate the turn around.

Rules: You may NOT utilize a commercially designed or distributed watercraft. Powerboats, canoes, kayaks, rafts, skiffs or other commercially designed craft will NOT qualify. Your vessel must NOT be commercially designed or built to travel on water. You cannot disguise an actual boat or ship for your craft. The vessels must be powered by Avi or wind energy; no swimmers pulling, pushing or propelling your craft.  NO engines, motors, trolling motors will be accepted. Sails, paddles and oars are acceptable. The decision of the judges is final. You must pick up the pieces if the vessel disintegrates in water or on land.

Hint: last year, for instance, we had a cupcake that floated and steered!
