Reader Submitted Picture: Extra Scary Costumes

From Cynthia Farshore at Club Cutlass. For adults with little time to watch horror movies or read scary stories, vampires and werewolves might not seem so frightening. But the IRS, that's something that strikes fear in the heart of every American: "Wait, we need to audit you!"

Two Sansar Contests by Linden Lab, One Offering $10,000 USD Prize

There's a couple of contests in Sansar going on. One for avatars, one for experiences.

For those looking for a new Oculus Rift, or perhaps looking to give one to a friend if you already have one, here's your chance. Linden Lab is offering a contest for those who design the best five Sansar avatars, offering a total of over $5,000 worth of prizes.

To begin with, Linden Lab isn't calling them avatars, but "avatar props." The contest has five categories, "Most Innovative," "Best Halloween Costume," "Funniest," and "Most Fashionable." The first prize for each is an Oculus Rift and an Oculus Touch Virtual Reality Headset Bundle (worth $399.00 USD), and a one year Super Creator Sansar Subscription (worth $359.88 USD). Honorable Mentions get a one year Creator Sansar subscription (wotth $119.88 USD). Entries have to comply with content guidelines. The deadline for new entries is Oct 1 at 5PM SL time.

The second contest involves not avatars, but areas in Sansar, their "Scariest Experience in Sansar" contest. For this one, first prize is n Oculus Rift and an Oculus Touch Virtual Reality Headset Bundle, a one year Super Creator Sansar Subscription, and a whopping $10,000 US dollars! Entries here also have to comply with content guidelines. The deadline for new entries is Oct 15 at 5PM SL time.

Vivi's Haunted Hill

Deaflegacy has been on the lookout for some Halloween Haunts. After a few that didn't seem what they were scared up to be, she came across Vivi's Haunted Hill in Smokey Valley. She found the place not just spooky, but terrifying. In writing about the location, she left some details unspoken so the surprise wouldn't be ruined, but did give some hints of what perils lay ahead.

A Look at Horror-Themed Sims

Reporter Theonlyjohnny Resident is back in action. Interested in what the horror sims in Second Life had to offer, he decided to check them out for himself. As what one might expect, not every single place looked as advertised. But just how many made the grade and which were the best at delivering their worst?

Haunted Enchantment Isle

The Enchantment Island Haunted, Spooky, Ghosts and Creepy is my third haunted house to visit. Luckily there is a notecard that you will use to help you enjoy all the fun in the house. The visit to the dining room is eye opening. Have a seat! A very spooky skeleton band will entertain you in the music room.

There are interactive activites if you look for them. Have a seat in the living room and you will see a delightful skeleton who dances just for you.  Watch that fire place in the living room . Climb the stairs to the upper floor and knock on the doors . The master bedroom is full of fun to find. The attic is especially poignant as you listen to the voices of the children and find their toys scattered about. You wonder what happened to them all.

This house was built by Aragon Sommer with Bambitwice Nightly of the Museum of Illusions and Magic, about which I wrote last year. Hidden places await you, just have to find them. Luckily for us there are clues in the notecard. After you visit the house, outside the gate there is a teleport to the store where you can actually take home some of the parts of the house, or all of it!

The haunt is at Le Magique (46, 40, 41).

The Terror of Mulberry Horror

SamanthaS Nightfire recently explored a Halloween haunt that was definitely not kiddie stuff, but "horror with a capital 'H'." "Forget the usual 'Boo!' kiddy stuff. As you desperately make your way through the dark, you'll have that sickening feeling that the child murderers, torturers and demons really are after you. You'll face your darkest nightmares. One question remains... will you make it out alive?"
