Cartoon of The Day: Tight Hugging Teddy

Taken at Serene Elements. A singer on stage had a huge teddy wrapped around her in a way that looked like a choke hold. With the spotlight on her, well, it could be confused for something else.

SLEA3 - A Dark Star

On the Destination Guide, there's an exhibit at the Second Life Endowment for the Arts area called "A Dark Star." Checking it out, the place, and it's two sister locations at the SLEA3 sim, were very well designed with striking lights and landscapes. Bixyl Shuftan would take a look at the place, and have a few words with designer Gem Preiz.

Reader Submitted Picture: Light in The Darkness

From Kazaron Klata. So what's with this black fox in a dark home at night, with only a single candle-like small electric lamp providing a little light to the place? He would say, "It was just a scene I kind of made at home. I thought it looked neat."

It does look poetic, as if someone wanted to light a candle for a late friend, but finding this lamp first, which worked just as well.

The Flight 93 Memorial Show, And Other September 11 Events

The events of September 11 2001 were about a generation ago, but the images people saw and the lives lost have not been forgotten. In Second Life, there were memorials to those lost, as well as various events in their honor. The Newser was at a few, notably the light show at the Flight 93 Memorial.

Scenes From "Lovefest" At Inspire Space Park

One of the "must see" places that most longtime residents know about and newcomers should be told of is "Inspired Space Park." The location has been in Second Life for about a decade, way above the Shinda sim, and even normally is a visual treat with it's sights of what could best be described as a cosmic dream with it's asteroids, planets and stars orbiting all around the planetoid and rocks you're on. But two weeks ago, people held a "Lovefest" event there to raise a little cash to help maintain the sim. It was a particle light show that was well worth the trip over.

Cartoon of the Day: Sharks With Lasers

I've heard the meme a lot, which has it's orgins from "Austin Powers" villain Dr. Evil, "You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!" Finally someone made it happen. But landwalker sharks in Second Life have more important things to do than follow the whims of some would-be mastermind, like perhaps teasing the neighbor's cat.

SL14B Sneak Peeks

It was Press Day at the SL14B today, and while we still can't show anything too revealing, yet, we can show you a few things with a small amount. One this is this flower held up by a metallic hand. A friendly greeting perhaps? You might want to see the whole thing before judging.

Maybe chickens do fly, or in this case giant chickens.

Going into the light, so to speak. And what exactly is this road between two lines of building-like builds lit up by such bright light? You'll find out tomorrow June 18 at Noon when the SL14B finally opens.

Addition: Later on in SLB chat, someone remarked, "Someone tell Bixyl that a phoenix is not a chicken." I had been wondering why it was so big.

Taken at the Sunbeamer's Road Rally. No, Rita wasn't on her cell phone. We can chalk this to a laggy day.

Light Thoughts 2

Becky Shaman's latest explorations across Second Life recently took her back to the Linden Endowment of the Arts regions. At LEA20, she found an exhibition, "Light Thoughts 2." Built by Mario2 Helstein, Becky was quite impressed with how it was designed and constructed.

Reflect the Light

Gemma Cleanslate took a look at a new art exhibition in LEA 18, "Reflect the Light." By Kiesta Aljon, the art is a combination of colored light and darkness, reflecting human conditions. So what did Gemma think of the exhibition?

Reader Submitted: Game Review - Star Wars The Old Republic - Free vs Paid Accounts

Nydia Tungsten is back with another reader submitted article. Having played the Multiplayer Online Game "Star Wars The Old Republic," she wrote a review about the game. The game is noted for Jedi characters having two choices to go: Light Side and Dark Side. But to Nydia, that wasn't the division that truly separated players.

Cartoon of the Day

By Xymbers Slade

For those who don't know, a "facelight" is an attachment in Second Life to make the face of one's avatar look slightly brighter and a little easier to see when the light is getting dim (doesn't work if your av is too different from human).

Looks like this girl tried to tweak the settings and got a little too much. ;-)
