The Emerald Crystal Golf Course

Gemma Cleanslate recently checked out a  golf course in Second Life, at the Emerald Crystal Golf Course. Located at Dark Sun Island, the sim is detailed with good scenery, and there are other activities. But the big thing is the 18-hole golf course. So what did Gemma think of the game?

Second Life Destinations: Surfing Enthusiasts

For those of you in Europe, northern Asia, Canada, and the US who miss the warm summer months already, and aren't too crazy about the ice and snow for the next few months, relief in Second Life is just a teleport away. In the latest Second Life Destinations on the Linden blog, there's a focus on surfing spots. And it includes a video by Draxtor Despress.

Catch a wave and hit the beach! The surf is up in Second Life, and the sunshine, beach sand, and horizon are the perfect place to feel the thrill of riding those waves! Even if you can't hit the beach in the physical world, you can surf all year long in the Internet's largest virtual world Second Life.

The four locations in the video, and others, can be found in the Destination Guide's Surfing category.

Reader Submitted: Wrestling in Second Life

What comes to mind when you think of wrestling in Second Life? Some would be surprised to hear that there's any at all here. Others think it's just two girls catfighting in a match that quickly ends up without clothes and little more than a pornographic display. While the latter is around, there's much, much more to that when it comes to the wrestling ring in the grid. Avina Wyndham, a lady wrestler for the ACW, recently sent over a reader submission describing the different kinds of wrestling here, and a few different kinds of rings.

Sumo Wrestling at Steelhead

At the Steelhead Estates, the residents are having the their Sakura Festival. Earlier in the week was one of the livelier events of the festival, "Sumo Sunday." Contrary what one might expect, it was not two big bulky guys in loinbelts slamming against one another. Instead, residents chose whatever avatar they liked. Despite a few technical glitches, the event was fun-filled with its share of chuckles.

"President's Day" Snail Race

Some things that go on in the Grid are quite literally "only in Second Life." Among them are the Giant Snail Races, run by Racer X Gullwing every week. These whimsical events consist of huge snail avatars navigating an obstacle course that consists of bouncing on mushrooms, avoiding a giant frying pan, catapulted by springs, bouncing on balloons over a shark tank, etc.

Each event has a different theme, and on Saturday Feb 16, the race's theme was "President's Day," with the track and snail shells dressed up in red, white, and blue. One snail also sported a large copy of Abe Lincoln's stovepipe hat.

Four races took place that day. The first was won by Kirkland Coba. The second by Tindallia Soothsayer. The third by Oodlemi Noodle

The races take place every Saturday at 11 AM at Devon Dream (150, 102, 777), although you may want to arrive a little early for everything to load. You can also see past races on the Treet.tv archives at: http://treet.tv/shows/snailraces.
