Linden Lab Spotlight on Nature Collective
At its core, The Nature Collective is a group, or a collective if you will, of nature-based sims and locations in Second Life – but we are so much more than that. We encourage exploration of our member locations through our various group events. Many of our locations are focused on real environmental issues and are working to educate people and make an impact. Whether we are nature creators, nature explorers, or both, we care about nature in all its forms and are doing what we can to make a difference and help people connect with nature both in Second Life and in our day-to-day lives.
I feel like The Nature Collective has helped inspire people to create more nature spaces in SL. People get excited about creating and sharing their spaces. It’s also helped people connect. Our little community now has over 2100 members and is continually growing. TNC offers group events aimed at getting people out exploring in SL while meeting new people. We’ve seen friendships blossom over common interests in nature. It’s been truly heartwarming to see our little group into this beautiful community.

Second Life Spotlight
In honor of the boundless creativity exhibited by Residents over the years, we would like to announce Second Life Spotlight. This weekly post will feature a different Resident to showcase the spectrum of experiences and personalities found in our virtual world.
Whether you have built a cyberpunk metropolis or a serene English garden, we’d love to know your story. Our Flickr is bursting with the work of virtual photography pros, and the live music scene hasn’t missed a beat over the years. Machinima, salsa dancing, the possibilities are truly endless.
If you have created something inworld that you’re proud of and want to share, this is your moment. This isn’t limited to creators. Second Life is home to educators, activists, and community leaders for the underrepresented. If you have had a deeply meaningful experience that could brighten someone else’s day, please sign up!
To sign up for the spotlight, go to the Google doc page (here), and type your name and email adress, and describe a little about yourself and what you do in Second Life, as well as providing a link to a website or social media page where more can be learned about you.
The Lab has already started their Spotlight, several days ago putting it on Second Life artist Bryn Oh.
Today we are shining a spotlight on Bryn Oh. Many Residents are familiar with her work, as she is one of the most talented virtual artists of our time and has spent more than a decade creating art in the virtual world of Second Life.

One small problem, the page to nominate someone for the Spotlight is made to nominate yourself and no one else. And there are plenty of people whom deserve the spotlight such as Kiana Banana (originally Kiana Writer) of Madpea for her games over the years, content creator Sugar Paw aka Casio Microline (Casio2000), Homes For Our Troops Fundraiser Frets Nirvana, Newser reporter Gemma Cleanslate who's been reporting the news across Second Life for well over a decade, and numerous Relayers such as Stingray Raymaker, Trader Whiplash, and Matt Carlton.
Perhaps there will be a change as time goes on. For now, Linden Lab says there will be a new person in the spotlight every week.

Resident Spotlight - Albright
In his latest article, Cyfir felt there was a resident who deserved the spolight: Albright. Albright (Nihilisticloupe Resident) is known online as an artist. But in Second Life, her duties include being not just being on the staff of one business' sim, but two: Timber Wilds Industries (TWI) and Furry Fashion. Cyfir recently met up with her and asked her how she came to Second Life and ended up helping out the two companies.

Second Life Destinations: "Horse Riding and Enthusiast Communities"
(Click here if the video fails to play)
Even though motor vehicles have long been the dominant form of transportation for about a century, there's something about riding horses. In this week's Second Life Destinations, Linden Lab puts the spotlight on places and groups related to horses, or "Horse Riding and Enthusiast Communities."
This week, we shine a spotlight on the many virtual horse communities in Second Life. ... there is renewed interest in equestrian experiences across the Grid. Horse lovers need places to saddle up and ride...and there’s no shortage of destinations that cater to horse enthusiasts ... Check out the Pets & Animals category in the Destination Guide for even more options.
The number of horse groups, breedable horse companies, and horseback riding locations are too numerous to mention. Last month, we interviewed Kitacelia about the challenges of raising breedable horses. If one wants to get a horse from her, she has a few at Dark Moon Rising at Helmsgarde (14/20/22).
