With so much going on lately, it's been easy to miss smaller events.  On Friday June 26 came a special occasion: The wedding of Lilybeth Patterson (LilyBethPatterson) and Ardo Topaz. Yours truly was among those invited, and took a few pictures.

Wedding Bells: Journey Texan And Luna Odinson

 While the Relay's big thing right now is the Fantasy Faire, there are other events going on. Among them was the wedding of Journey Texan and Luna Odinson. They had decided to make a Relay fundraiser out of "will or won't they marry?" And not surprisingly, it was a landslide to tie the knot. 

 

Relayers have spoken! After a resounding L$10,700 YES to L$150 NO voting event, a dinkie-sized wedding will take place for LuCat and JoCat!

 

Angelika Courtois would write a few times about the romance and wedding, "Love, as a concept, does not make me swoon ... because 'love' in Second Life gets tossed around like budget confetti ..." But there were things large and small about Journey and Luna's romance that got her attention and told her this wasn't just any SL romance, "They drifted through the grid the way people do when they are not trying to impress anyone or get anywhere. And then, because apparently subtlety occasionally wins, one of them just blurted it out … 'I love you.' No build-up. No theatrical monologue. No caps lock. Just… there. .... Not the loud, neon, copy-paste version handed out like flyers on a street corner. The quiet kind. The one that sneaks in when no one is paying attention, built on time and presence and the simple act of “staying”. No grand gestures. Just: 'Here’s something different.' And the equally simple response: 'Okay.'" 

 

The wedding took place Sunday April 26 at 2PM SL time, with Journey wearng a ball and chain as a joke.  Journey would later write, "I'm uncertain how many people attended in all, but at one point there were 52 people enjoying the festivities at the same moment. Thanks to your generosity, another L$49,800 in donations were raised for the ACS during our multi-team BYOK wedding."

 

There had been a few jokes about paparazzi an tabloids over the course of the first fundraiser. But some attention from media outlets that had no wish to look like tabloids was welcome. One table at the wedding was covered with articles, some were clearly props, but between those were pages from Angelika and the Newser. 

 

"It Happened. @Luna (Hope Floaters)  & @Journey Texan Hitched. There are moments in a Grid life when you put down your sarcasm, smooth out your dress, walk through a security checkpoint, enjoy your pat-down as instructed, and simply allow yourself to feel something. This was one of those moments ..."

Saturday October 7 was the day of a wedding in Second Life. It was when Crim Mip and KariaKay Karu exchanged marriage vows. The event began at 3PM SL time, and after about eighteen minutes, the ceremony began.

The crowd, which included a number of people such as Oldesoul Eldemar, Grease Coakes, Merryjest, Bain & Panza Finch, and others, gave their congratulations. "Cheers the couple!" "Yay!" "Wonderful." "Abbondanza!" "Congrats you two." "Best wishes to you both, long life and happiness." "CONGRATULATIONS CRIM AND KARI!" "Congratulations Kari and Crim  blessings (smile)." "May each day be as happy as today for the two of you." As the well wishes were sill being sent, people went back to dancing.

May the new couple spend many happy years together.

Charlee and I are now officially a couple here in Second Life.

Maybe it was the people who were already calling us "Mister and Mrs. Shuftan." In any event, Charlee and I decided to go ahead with our wedding. Originally it was going to be one with a number of people attending. But later on after some talk, we decided to "elope" and have a private ceremony.

 

The reception went on as scheduled, on Wednesday June 14 at the Happy Vixen at 7PM SL time. The reason for that particular time was so the lady who officiated the wedding could be there. There were a few people who didn't make it due to real life or tired from the recent Relay season. Still it was very much a fun party enjoyed by all, especially by Charlee and I.

For those who have given us their well wishes, thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts.

 On Thursday February 16, Chuul.King (ChuulKing Resident) and Sophitia.Queen (SophitiaEqui Resident) exchanged vows at a virtual wedding. While the Newser has covered weddings before, it's uncommon that the groom is a human and the bride is a furry.

 

Before the event, the groomsmen and bridesmaids were in separate rooms, but still able to talk to one another through extended chat. At one point, one of the girls showed the others a picture of the five of them she had taken, then "Oops, Chuul don't open that! (I) forgot the guys would see it too," her thinking of the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride on the day of the wedding before the ceremony. There were jokes about having Sophita casting kobol magic to make him forget the image. But Chuul responded, "No magic could make me forget you, Love."

The ceremony was conducted by Lance Horsley, "We are here today as the result of the love that Sophi and Chuul have found with each other and this ceremony is the joining together of their two hearts and souls in marriage. ,,, Is there anyone present here that knows of any reason why  Sophi and Chuul may not be joined together in marriage? No? Excellent. Then we will proceed ..."

Lance Horsley: Sophi do you take Chuul to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and not so good times, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?
 

SophitiaEqui Resident: I do.
 

Lance Horsley: And Chuul do you take Sophi to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and not so good times, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?
 

Chuul.King (ChuulKing Resident): I do.

The pair then exchanged rings.

Lance Horsley: Before these witnesses, you have pledged your love and to be joined in marriage. You have now sealed this pledge with your wedding rings. By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. ... Congratulations to you both. Chuul you may now kiss your bride! Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to present to you Mr King and Mrs Queen."

Following the ceremony was the reception, with dancing and dinner. And of course the throwing of the boquet, which was caught by Luna Sakurano (LunaSakurano Resident).

Chuul and Sophita can occasionally be found at Club Cutlass and the Happy Vixen. While Sophita has several avatars, she's best known for her kobold.

Wedding Bells

Yesterday, Monday June 18, was a happy occasion for the Sunweavers. It was the wedding of ღ Sнίηƴ Wнίϯє ƊƦαɢσɴ ღ (ShinyWhiteDragon Resident), a longtime regular at Club Cutlass, and LilyBethPatterson Resident. 

The wedding took place at the Maven Estates, and was well-attended. 

Some of Shiny's dracomic friends were there, two taking the groom then bride to the altar. 

Afterwards, they headed to the after-wedding party, which was at the Happy Vixen. DJ Khyra (aka the Dazzlecat DJ) and hostess Ana played the tunes to an audience of about forty humans, furs, dragons, and tinies. 

Congratulations Shiny and Lily, and may your Second Lives be happy together,

Some Events and Places at Bellisseria

 

Following the anniversary of the Bellisseria Bureau of Bureacracy, Gemma has continued to find noteworthy events, and places, around the Linden Home continent. A fan of the SS Galaxy when it was in private hands with a crew, she was plesantly surprised to see a wedding there. She also found the BBB had moved to a new location. For those whom are homeless while waiting for a Linden Home, there's a homeless shelter. But not all the fun was on the continent. With Mardi Gras soon, she went elsewhere to check out a parade.

I returned now that the newly decorated Eyrie fantasy community center is in place. It is charming and will be a good place to hang out for the fantasy home residents especially but for anyone else looking for a place to rest and visit with friends.

Magic Mole has created a statue of Patch Linden to greet all visitors standing at the top of the stairs .

There is a charming Luna Moth ride installed to take a look around the region. Go visit.

Wedding in Bellisseria

 

Weddings are definately an occasion to remember. Some are bigger than others. And last Saturday, there was quite a large one in Bellisseria. The couple were Riot Hax and Kalia Cherry Anatine-Hax (Kalia Anatine), whom were marrying in both real life and Second Life after a long courtship. Word had gotten around, and was attended by so many people, some had to settle for being in the next sim over. Gemma Cleanslate was there, and it was quite an experience.

Wedding in The Deathlands

 

As a post-apocalyptic region that describes everyday life as a struggle to survive, one wouldn't expect the Deadlands to be the scene of a wedding. But it was. Rebel Wolf, the local baron, recently announced the place's first wedding. The Newser asked him how it went about.

Wedding at Bellisseria

A number of events have happened at the new continent from car shows to boat races, and of course music and dance parties. But what about weddings? Gemma Cleanslate came across the ceremony of Red Daidig and Ravyen Woodward, a couple that had taken their relationship to real life, and were marrying in Second Life as well. Patch Linden was also there, not as a guest but as the one leading the ceremony.

Wedding Bells: Breezes Babii Gets Married

Longtime readers of the Newser may remember Breezes Babbii. Best noted for her "Breezes Thoughts" of our predecessor paper, the Second Life Newspaper, she would later write some for the Newser about the Tombstone community she was a part of and other subjects. On Saturday April 23, she and her new partner Atlore Osaya (also part of Tombstone) were married. The ceremony took place high above the Terra del Sole sim.

Afterwards, the couple and guests went to a reception, where they danced for a while.

We at the Newser wish the couple many years of health and happiness.

Tuesday March 1 marked the wedding of a longtime resident, and friend of mine with her partner. At 10 AM SL time, a ceremony with a gothic theme began, uniting Meli Hotshot with her love Rick Darksoul (latexlover070). Following the exchange of vows and the kiss, there was a reception afterwards, with music and dance.

I ran into Meli through Muertos Ashborne, whom I had met through friends at the old STA before it closed down. In the days following the close of my favorite spot in Second Life, they helped cheer me and others up. While our paths took us different places, Meli taking a break from the Grid, eventually she returned, and we began talking to one another again. She soon ran into Rick, and the two fell in love.

May the new couple find joy and happiness.

Wedding Bells at Club Cutlass

Labor Day Weekend was the scene of a virtual wedding at Club Cutlass, the main club of the Sunweaver Estates. The two getting married were Alynna Vixen (Alynna K'shenera Trypnotk), the caretaker of Club Fur, one of the oldest clubs in Second Life, and Lunara Xenno (Lunara Astara).

Nydia Tungsten was the one who performed the ceremony. The event was delayed due to Lunara's computer having connection troubles. But eventually she came back online, and the ceremony went almost without further hitch, save for an accidental gesture that created a few chuckles.

After the wedding came the reception and dance, with DJ Blader, whom usually plays music at Bandit's Hideout, spinning the tunes.

It was a happy day for the newlywed couple, and friends, at the Sunweavers.

Addition: Alynna later informed the Newser her  display name was now "Alynna O'onthrera Trypnotk)."

On Wednesday December 17 at the Sunweaver Estates, instead of the usual mid-week bash at Club Cutlass, the community held a wedding that evening. Mark Leewind, known as the local firefighter, partnered with his sweetheart Nana Pelazzi. The ceremony was held at Mouse Hole Manor in Sunlight Bay.

In place of our usual event, we have something special tonight. It's the wedding of Mark Leewind and Nana Pelazzi. Dress up for a wedding and come help celebrate their happy event. Reception follows the ceremony. Remember... That's 5:30 PM.

The event was a little late, but that allowed more of the locals to drop by. Becky "Sha" Shamen was the one whom conducted the ceremony. Rita Mariner was the Maid of Honor, and Skylark LeFavre served as a bridesmaid.

Becky is a longtime friend of Mark, whom she wrote about in September 2013.

Congrats to Kazumi (third from the right) and Furrygirl (third from the left) whom were partnered together Friday night, Sept 26. The ceremony was conducted by Becky "Sha" Shamen. The witnesses attending were from left to right Brandi Streusel, Nydia Tungsten, Kiwi, and myself.

 Once the ceremony was done, we headed off to the reception, held at Sunny Beach. We were joined there by by Skylark Lefavre, who'd been held up by events in real life, and Kazumi's SL daughter Angel.

Congratulations Bain and Panza

On Saturday Feb 23 at 5PM SL time, Bain Finch and Panza Eilde were wed at a ceremony, followed by a reception. Both are noted participants for the Relay For Life, so the event was well attended by many Relayers, such as Fuzzball Ortega and Lomgren Smalls. The event had a "Three Musketeers" theme, so many appeared in outfits of the period.
