It Came From Bellisseria Chat: Ghost Horde?

While taking a look at the chat in the Bellisseria group, I happened to see the above picture posted by Jazzy (skyler0101 Resident), one showing some white streaks going over a Linden Home, some water, and a road. The reaction was the following:

[10:29] Mel (MelpomeneThalia Eton): It's probably dust from all the construction work going on
[10:30] Dreamer Pixelmaid: is that a storm coming?
[10:30] Jazzy (skyler0101 Resident): an evil one
[10:30] Dreamer Pixelmaid: 🤣

Then someone remembered it was October, and noticed the jack o'lanterns

[10:30] Jenni Meads: A hoard of ghosts?
[10:30] Jazzy (skyler0101 Resident): yep
[10:31] Jenni Meads: The pumpkins gave it away
[10:31] Jenni Meads: hehehe
[10:31] Jazzy (skyler0101 Resident): lol

One example of Halloween hijinks on the Linden Home continent.

It Came From Bellisseria Chat: "The Priest Who Poofed"

Sometimes all you need to do to find something interesting in Second Life is listen to the chatter. One group that's seldom quiet for long is Bellisseria Citizens. A few days ago, someone asked about someone in a priest avatar that appeared at their home, then vanished. That led to some noteworthy chatter for a few minutes.

It Came From Bellisseria Chat: What A Croc

Kira Skydancer was talking about her new Bellisseria home, "I didn't fill in my pool, but I did add landscaping and palm trees to the small bit between the island and my docks, and a pool for the base of the falls."

But it seems Kira had a scaley visitor, "Unfortunately, someone else decided they liked my pool... now all my fishies are gone." The chatter soon turned into a debate on if the mers at Bellisseria's water areas were safe.

It Came From Fantasy Faire Chat: Halloween Decorating

A few days ago in Second Life, chatter started up in the Fantasy Faire group. Topics went to someone playing hide and seek with his pet snow leopard, "he's not very good at hide-and-seek, but I pretend I can't find him sometimes." Then eventually Milisandre Sarleon (Milisandre Resident)
then eventually talked about her pet "helping me spook the place up a bit for Halloween." It was quickly complimented, "That looks delightfully cozy." "Wow!" Milisandre thanked them, "Thank you. I made a couple modifications to it from stock, like redoing the interior surfaces to a cleaner stucco, and adding an upper floor and mezzanine reading spot; outside vines and trellis etc."

Delain (Delain Canucci): would add, "finished up my place too and is ready for Halloween. "That's amazing!" "Thank you *smile* It's open for public so if anyone wants to visit let me know, I toss the LM" She would later give the SURL, which was for a house in Color Alchemists.

What Halloween houses have you the readers seen? Feel free to mention some in the comments?

It Came From Fantasy Faire Chat: Stuck Frog

With the Fantasy Faire sims finally closed, on Wednesday May 8 there was much chatter in the group, and a few pictures shared that day. Among them was one by Alia Baroque of one of the giant frogs at this year's Faire, stuck between two rocks.

It Came From Bellisseria Chat: Wendi's Butt

While the residents can sometimes have a love-hate relationship with Linden Lab, individual Lindens are usually seen more warmly. This can be especially so with Lindens and Moles involved with getting Linden Homes up and running. One day a few days ago, I happened to notice this line in Bellisseria chat

[09:34] N**** (N********* Resident): I am looking at the new region and the lands I have to say poor Wendi is working her butt off I just she her tping around.

The chatter went on for twenty minutes or so, then a certain Linden happened to comment

[09:52] Wendi Linden: @********* - I assure you that, while I do still have a butt, I am doign all I can to make sure everyone gets that Linden Home they want. :-D

That led to some cheers of "Hi Wendi!", and a couple laughs. One resident also quipped, "Yayyy! Wendy was the fae  who got me  into my log. Poor Wendi,  I was so anxious, I was about to pull her by her ears." Wendi's response was "Too kind! I will say that it's always very rewarding to be able to get all y'all your Linden Homes. Even if I've worn through two pairs of boots in the process, running from home to home. :-)"

So it seems the Lindens are never too far away in Bellisseria chat, "Quite okay :-)"

Plane Wreck in Bellisseria

Picture from Larree Quixote. Not long after the "Chicken incident," Larree announced in Bellisseria chat, "Uh oh. There has been a terrible accident!" Then he posted this picture, that of a still-smoking plane that had smashed into a house-turned-club. There were soon other comments, "I didn't do it." "Not me either *sips her coffee casually*" "Just get out of the Larree! Ya saw nothing!!" "Looks like my flying, but it wasn't me, today." "Flying into a house like yours. Just not today!" "Think of it as.. an attic conversion (grin)." "I mean ... ya drive a plane into a house and it's for sure going to be an open floor plan hey? (grin)" "Belli Homes .. now featuring unique skylights!" "I take requests if anyone wants that new skylight, but best warn your neighbours in case I get the wrong street."

I never did get the location of the "Launch Pad" pilot.

Fowl Times at Lighthorse, Bellisseria

One never knows just quite will happen in Bellisseria next. The other day in Bellisseria chat, someone asked, "Has anyone seen the big rooster at Lighthorse?" "It's funny." "It is a damn yuge™ rooster, it YUGE™! I feel I wanna ride it." "Oooooh what a lovely covenant violation! (big grin)" "Chicken nuggets."

Curious, I sent my alt Rezz to Lighthorse and looked around. On the map, there was a brown oval, and I eventually saw it, an enormous rooster on somebody's roof.  It towered over me, bigger than the house it was on.

The comments in Bellisseria chat continued, "*wakes up to chat about 20 meter rooster*" "Turn it into chicken soup, with dumplings." "Man you know how many chicken nuggies we could make that thing into?" "Rude, now I want chicken soup." "Maybe the over size poultry is the owner comment on the neighbourhood?"

No word on if this was part of some B-rated machinima "Attack of The Fifty Foot Rooster," a publicity stunt by an upcoming "Bellisseria Fried Chicken," or simply someone's attempt at fowl humor.

News And Commentary: No Plans For Covering US Election in SL This Spring

Over the past few days, there's been quite a bit of chatter on my social media in Facebook at Discord about certain political issues, notably the unsuccessful impeachment of US President Donald Trump. But there were also comments about President Trump's State of the Union Address and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's reaction to it. While results of the vote itself were more or less as expected, there was still no shortage of angry comments. There were both people expressing their fury at the President and those who voted for him, and the President's opposition and those who voted for them.

Like Election Night 2016, I ended up reflecting for some time at the Texas State Capitol Building in Antiquity Texas (153/132/22), the closest Second Life has to Capitol Hill. While I had thought of covering the election some this spring, the frequency and depth of the anger I've been hearing has convinced me to wait a little longer. There's plenty else to write about in the meantime.

Perhaps a little time will help calm the angry voices ... hopefully. As a reader of American history, I am all too aware of what can happen when there is no longer an agreement to disagree.
