"Machinima Monday" by Chantal Harvey

Longtime residents will likely remember Chantal Harvey, known in Second Life's Golden Age for her work in machinima, films done within virtual worlds and MMOs. Chantal is still around, holding a weekly event around these kinds of videos called "Machinima Monday."

We welcome filmers, writers, musicians, actors, movie-fans - hey - everybody is welcome.
This friendly machinima group holds weekly meetings at 1pm - every monday.
You are welcome to join us.
Newcomer welcome, we chat and show our work, share tips and tricks, on fb too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MachinimaMondays

I dropped by the other day, in time to see a couple well-done videos. Chantal herself was there in a "camera" avatar, looking like a robot with a few treats on her belt. The others present would share videos, and the others would comment. One was for Madpea, the other a music video. The people thought both were well done.

Machinima Monday is every Monday at 1 PM SL time at Samandiriel (209/225/1797

SL Documentary: "Made in Second Life: The Movie"

From Draxtor Despress, which premiered at June 23 at Noon SL time at the SL20B Aboretumn stage, 'Made in SL: The Movie' is a special long-form documentary to celebrate the occasion of Second Life's 20th anniversary. Filmmaker and Linden Lab contractor @Draxtor Despres initially planned to produce a 10-minute short film, stringing together birthday wishes from as many Residents and Lindens as possible within that length. After an initial casting call, 17 Second Life Residents came forward, along with founder Philip Rosedale, as well as QA Engineer Mazidox Linden. Mr. Despres spent 3 months reviewing some 2 TB of personal archival material, searched the web for rare SL footage, and shot brand new footage around the grid. After the first round of interviews, the 10-minute short ballooned to 120 minutes on paper and eventually became a 47-minute film, a very personal love letter to a world that fosters community and creativity like no other. Among many past Second Life Residents visible in historical footage and b-roll, the narrative of the film is based on interviews with the following people: Amber Lyndhurst, Anjelikka, Arietu Kyor,i Ben Dunn, Bollycoco Dallas, Chantal Harvey, Chuu Hikari Akamine, Feorie Frimon, Katheryn Llewellyn, Marianne McCan,n Mazidox Linden, Michely Blogger Moon Adamant Mystic Flower Pearl Hyacinth Peasant Tater Philip Linden/Rosedale Streex Foxtrot Made in SL logo and poster art by Marianne McCann Enjoy a tribute to your world and to YOUR imagination. Can you spot Peter Gabriel, William Gibson, and Ben and Jerry’s Island?"

SL Video: "Robotworld - Robi - Oh my Head!"

(Click here if the video fails to play)

By Chantal Harvey in Aug 2015, "Robi, a little robot. In the year 3015, we see a happy little robot named Robi, playing and exploring on an empty planet. She was left behind, when the mother-ship teleported to the next planet without completing their count to 42. 1 little robot was overlooked, as she failed to make her way back on time, looking for her head.

"Making the best out of her situation, Robi wants us to know:

"I am not broken
"I lost my head
"I was left behind, forgotten
"I alone am Robi."

Gemma Cleanslate was at the unveiling of the new exhibition at the LEA 26 sim. The opening in itself was quite an experience. But so was the sim itself, with it's numerous instruments. There was also a movie set there which was the spot where noted machinima maker Chantal Harvey's latest video, "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas."

SL Machinima: "2AM" By Chantal Harvey

"Machinima by Chantal Harvey, made at Bryn Oh's Standby installation at IBM sims in SL.
The song "TWO AM" is by Grace McDunnough.
Machinima made by Chantal Harvey. http://mamachinima.eu

Grace McDunnough is an independent artist from Atlanta, GA. Grace began performing live music in the virtual world of Second Life in 2006 where she still performs regularly. An entertainer and modern bard with heart and soul to spare, Grace throws down a variety of acoustic sets with an old guitar, rich lyrics and powerfully raw vocals for a growing international fan base. http://phasinggrace.blogspot.com/

Bryn Oh is a metaverse artist who is meant to exist only online. She is a concept, a pixel character who inhabits the virtual world of Second Life. The idea is to see if a virtual identity can succeed within the real world of flesh and blood artists. http://brynoh.blogspot.com/

This machinima is filmed in Second Life tm - at IBM sims.
Since 2006, IBM has maintained a presence in Second Life which has included the venerable IBM 6 sandbox, a home and training ground for some of the grids most talented builders, both IBMers and non IBMers, and the IBM 2 and IBM 3 Exhibition Sims. Through the operation of these areas, IBM has recognized that community building and social content creation are a key part of the value of virtual worlds. http://exhibitionspace.org/about.cfm

The song TWO AM inspired me to create this machinima, it has been haunting me - till I was invited to the Standby Art installation by Bryn Oh. I want to thank Bryn for letting me film there, and thanks Grace for allowing me to use her song. I hope I did justice to it.
Lyrics of TWO AM were written by Salome Strangelove. "

"SLAngry Birds"

Some of you have heard about "Angry Birds," the highly successful game for handheld devices, that later were available on computers as well. Apparently, Chantal Harvey took it a step further, bringing it to SL.

With the help of a few friends, she made a funny little SL Machinima based on the game: SLAngry Birds. The set itself was made by Maxamillian Merlin, with a free bird av nearby provided by Madcow Cosmos. The Homestead Sim belongs to Chantal of course. When everyone got together for the machinima, the result was hilarity.

Chantal left the SLAngry Birds build up for anyone who wanted to play with it. She says people drop by "all the time" to give it a try. Find the explosive teddy bear, sit in the catapult, and then launch yourself for a blast.

SLAngry Birds is at RastaOpen4 (195, 50, 21)
