Screening Event At Film Threat in Second Life
You are invited to an exclusive event on July 29 at 3PM-7PM (Pacific Time).
The entire presentation is 30 minutes, but hang out after to chat in Second Life! Attendees will see the teaser trailer debut, poster reveal and get a first look at the documentary "Attack of the Doc!" with host Chris Gore. Spots are limited, so don’t miss out!
I found out about the event in a group chat. Heading over, there were a number of people there, including Brett Linden in the seats, and at one point Patch Linden walked in. Also there was Chantal Harvey, a machinima producer from Second Life's golden age over a decade ago. And Chris Gore was there himself, in an avatar with his real-life name.
Talking to Chris Gore (and getting the okay to use the conversation, he was enjoying his time in Second Life, "This is cool!" He went on to say, "We do plan to do other events in here. ... We're planning monthly events starting in September. No date set, but pay attention on social media to find out."
While the event was listed in the official blog, it was under "Highlights of the Second Life Destination Guide." So those checking out the blog would notice it while those who just peeked at secondlife.com wouldn't know about it without clicking further.
The Film Threat theater is at Film Threat A/(133/6/23). It's unknown how long the teaser will keep playing.

Teaser: Bay City's "Candygram For Mongo"
Just after EFCommittee sent his last mystery message concerning something about to happen in Bay City, he sent a third. "We don't want to reveal too much yet," he stated, "but we believe that the destination will be better than currently believed. ... Happy, sad, joyous, mournful, mountain, valley, high, low, competitive and cooperative. All shall be revealed in it's course."
Although this time a full picture was given, there aren't that many clues. Who the "Mongo" is that it refers to is unknown. Details will likely have to wait until the next message, whenever that will be.

New Sansar Video by Linden Lab
(Click here if the video fails to play)
"Something is coming. Something revolutionary. But it's unlike anything the world has seen before. We call it Sansar."
This is how the new video just released by Linden Lab begins. Just under two minutes long, it gives a number of glances of Linden Lab's next-generation virtual world. Second Life users might not be too impressed with certain parts of the film, as it offers the chance for most everyone to design scenes in virtual reality, which can also be done in Second Life. Hamlet Au, felt a bit "snarky" about some things about the video, "Gross usage of Silicon Valley hyperbole, especially coming from the creators of Second Life, which is very much something like Sansar the world has already seen. In fact, I don't think the trailer shows a single thing not already evidenced in Second Life or another virtual world."
The video did show people using "The Sansar Store," and near the end a woman avatar is speaking in sync with the narrator's voice, a suggestion that one improvement of the avatars is improved speaking motion in voice.
"Welcome to Sansar: Created Reality" the video concludes. In 2015, Linden Lab had bought the rights to the createdreality.com domain, leading Inara Pey to wonder what plans the Lab had for the name. It seems that this may be the slogan for Sansar. Inara would also describe the Sansar video in detail.
Just after the video fades to black, the last word is Sansar will be in Open Beta sometime in "Spring 2017." Will we be able to see for ourselves just what this new virtual world contains by June? Time will tell.

Teaser: "Grand Illusion" For Bay City?
About a month ago, a EFCommitee send the Newser a mysterious message regarding something happening in Bay City later on. He recently sent another, saying only, "Soon, the work will be finished. And we hope when the nature of the work is revealed that you will join us. Nothing nefarious, we assure you, but rather an ongoing.....something."
So what is this "something?" Time will tell.

Teaser: Is Bay City "Prepared?"
An "EFCommittee" recently sent a message to the Second Life Newser, The message was that something big was about to happen in Bay City, but he or she would not go beyond that other than the picture above that was sent over, with the message "Are you prepared?" Marianne McCann, Bay City's unofficial spokeswoman, confirmed EFCommittee has been a truthful source of information in the past, but wouldn't go further on the subject.
So just what is it Bay City needs to be prepared for? Time will tell.
