A few weeks ago, Jarden Alexis' Premier Business Center held a "Meet The Author" event. But this wasn't just any writer.  This was the editor and main writer of the SL Newser, yours truly, about the recently published exciting new science-fiction tale: "The Corsean Encounter." So what went on, and what did yours truly have to say?

"Bid Me Purple" Results and "Bid Me Mouse or Bunny"

At over 337,000 Lindens at the time this article was written, the Relay's Team Sunbeamers is now eighth among the teams. Besides the weekly Moon Dance which it hosts and other "Bring Your Own Kiosk" events it attends, it's doing some "Bid Me" fundraisers. On Saturday March 20, LiskaBystrouska's "Bid Me Purple" concluded. The event brought in 12,050 Lindens, and she was committed to being a violet vixen for a month.

But in addition to the date auction, the "Bid Me Foxy," and "Bid Me Pink" events, club owner and estate manager Nydia Tungsten has stepped in to put her looks on the line as well. She has a "Bid Me" of her own, "Bid Me Mouse or Bunny"

Team Sunbeamers has a new Bid Me event. The talented Nydia Tungsten is putting her looks on the line with "Bid Me Mouse or Bunny. This event has three kiosks. You can donate to make her a mouse, a bunny, or keep her as her normal foxy self. At the end of the event, the kiosk with the highest total wins out. If the mouse or bunny kiosk comes out ahead, she has to spend a week for each 2000 Lindens donated, rounded down. The event is at the BBBC and goes on until Sunday April 11.

Unlike the previous "Bid Me" events, this one has three kiosks. As usual, the one on the left is the default one where those wanting to keep Nydia as is can donate. But those desiring the white vixen have a new look for a while have a choice. For those with the intend of making her a mouse like her partner Brandi Streusel, there's a "Bid Me Mouse" kiosk in the center. For those wishing her appear in a bunny form, to the right is a "Bid Me Bunny" one. For each 2000 Linden dollars donated into the winning kiosk, rounded down, Nydia spends a week as the assigned look. That is, unless the default kiosk comes out ahead.

As with DJ Matt's "Bid Me Pink," the kiosks for this fundraiser are at the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club in SunwaterThree. The event goies on to Sunday April 11, and the totals will be made final at 9PM SL time with the results announced soon after.

So will Nydia end up squeaking on by, or will she be doing the bunny hop at the dance clubs? The donators will be the judge.

The date auction, featuring DJ Snowbuns, is almost over. Those wishing to make a bid to date the cute bunnygirl have until Saturday March 27, with the results made final just before 8PM SL time.

Among the Relay teams, Camping For a Cure is first, with over two million Lindens raised and the only Diamond level team. Second and third are the Cure Chasers and The River of Life teams, with over half a million raised each and are Ruby level. Eleven more teams, including the Sunbeamers, are Platinum ranked with over a quarter million raised.

Announcement: Marrathon Halloween Party at Happy Vixen, 7000 L in Prizes

Goblins, Ghouls and anything else spooky. Come one, come all to the Final Halloween Event of the Year at Happy Vixen! We're rocking the night away with not one, not two but three rocking Dj's spanning six hours of Halloween mayhem. We have DJ Naughty Nydia, DJ Squeaks and a rare treat for one and all. DJ Jasmine Hornycorn. If this lineup isn't enough to wet your musically inclined sweet tooth, we're throwing down a massive 7000L prize to be sliced down the middle for all the creeps and deadies. Shall be a night to die for! Need a date? Borrow a shovel and dig one up! Creep, crawl, slither, flap or just appear like a spook and help us rock the night away at Happy Vixen Haunted Woods on Halloween night!

"Twisted Christmas" Party At The Happy Vixen

Sunday 12PM SL time was the "Twisted Christmas" at the Happy Vixen. As the crowd danced away, Nydia Tungsten took up her mantle of "DJ Naughty Nydia" to spin a series of Christmas comedy and parody tunes from mild to wild to "what the heck?"

Are you tired of all the sickeningly sappy Christmas commercials that started in OCTOBER!?!?! and the Christmas specials on TV with 10 min of show and 15 min of over run TV ads? so much in fact you just want to SCREAM!! Well rather than risking a stay in the local looney bin come join us today at "The Happy Vixen" at noon.

Some were familiar ones such as "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," and "The Twelve Pains of Christmas." Others were more than a little cheeky, such as "I Want a Boob Job For Christmas."And some we can't say the titles here. Some of what the crowd wore was laid back, such as a couple ladies wearing classy gowns. Other chose to get a little wild, such as one deergirl who put mistletoe on her antlers.

The party lasted for three hours, and the 2000L contest was jointly won by Jasmine Dawn and Skylark Lefavre.

"Twisted Christmas" Party Tomorrow At The Happy Vixen

Christmas is a great time of year, but sometimes it can wear a little thin. The crowded stores, the over-commercialization, the same darn sappy song on the radio over and over again, and more. It's enough to make one more than a little jaded. Heck, it's enough to drive some of us to punch out the next mall Santa we see.

Well it's time to push back with what's become an annual tradition at the Sunweaver/Angel community: Nydia Tungsten's "Twisted Christmas" Party. She has a collection of funny songs and parodies that are sure to leave you in stitches. They range from the mild such as "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," and "Christmas at Ground Zero," to edgier fare from Andrew Dice Clay and others of which we can't mention the titles.

The event takes place at Sunday December 18 at12 Noon at the Purrfection Estates (236, 219, 24)  

Nydia Tungsten's "Twisted Christmas" Party

Thursday December 17 was the day Nydia Tungsten held her yearly Christmas party. But having got her start in Second Life as DJ "Naughty" Nydia, her party had a special twist. It would consist of comic and parody songs. Some were simply funny such as "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," and "Christmas at Ground Zero." Others had a bit of an edge to then, such as Shockwave Yarreach's parody "Grandma Got Knocked Up By a Reindeer." And some were so raunchy, we can't even print the names in a workplace-safe publication.

I will be doing a TWISTED CHRISTMAS event tomorrow  from 4 to 6 at Primal Passions, never heard of Naughty Nydia's Twisted Christmas? well lets just say it won't be a "hallmark moment" event  SEE YOU THERE!

The event went from 4 to 6 PM SL time at Rayven Tentigo's "Primal Passions" castle club. The event had originally been called the "Anti-Christmas Party" as a reaction to the over-commercialization of the Holiday to the point the spiritual side of the season was being forgotten. But it seems some people were confused by the event's name, and so Nydia changed it.

Besides the songs, there were a few frisky Christmas cartoons propped up (which we can't show). A number of people dropped by, including Shockwave just in time to hear his parody song, Lomgren Smalls in his signature microkitty avatar, Alleara Snoodle in a white doe avatar (nobody "doe"s it better), Nydia's real-life son Kody, and others.

I did chat with Rayven after the event. She reminded the Newser that the Primal Passions club is an active venue with several events a week and where adults can relax and have fun both during and after the part, the schedule can be found at http://primalpassionsclub.weebly.com/events.html (caution, not all of the pages linked to this one are workplace safe). Nydia Tungsten on the "Anti-Christmas Party"

Tomorrow on December 17 at the Primal Passions Club at Sunweaver Bay (170, 215, 25), Nydia Tungsten will be DJing for the "Anti-Christmas" event, a dance party with a range of music parodies from mild to wild. But it seems there's been a bit of confusion about the event. So Nydia asked for a little time to explain.

"Twisted Christmas"

Before we tune out on the happenings of the holiday season, there's one more story to be told. Every season, Nydia Tungsten does her "Twisted Christmas" special. But this year a Grinch threatened to shut down the show in the form of a computer wipe. So was it a blue Christmas for Nydia's fans, or would the dementedly fun side of the Holidays prevail?

Party at Sunny Beach for Nydia Tungsten

I've heard some residents say, usually to their disappointment, that after having to be offline for several days, they find virtual life went smoothly without them, "Oh, so that's where you were." Not so Nydia Tungsten. After a few days of being offline, her friends and virtual family began to wonder. After about a week, her Angels group was quite worried. Finally came an update. While she had been in the hospital, her problem wasn't nearly as bad as feared and she would be coming home.

On the afternoon of Monday August 25, Nydia returned to Second Life with both a flurry of IMs, and cheers in group chats. Happiest of all was her partner Brandi Streusel whom logged on to give her a big hug. So what to do? Talk soon turned to having a party to celebrate. But Nydia also had in mind the calendar contest made to raise funds for the Angels Estates, which had portraits of the volunteers at the Sunny Beach club. So the decision was made to hold the party there, and Nydia herself would do the DJing.

Nydia's back, and behind the DJ booth. To celebrate, we're having a "Best in Model" night. Come to the Sunny Beach club and be surrounded by some of the best looking ladies in the Sunweaver Estates, make a bid on the volunteers for the calendar contest, and of course enjoy the tunnage of "DJ Naughty Nydia." There's a whopping 2500 Lindens on the board, so come and get it.

Brandi was sporting a slightly differently look part of the time. While Nydia was absent, she was going about in dark fur. But as some people thought it was cute, she had it on one more time.

The prize was split between Skylark LeFavre, Brandi Streusel, and Kera Berensohn. Lots of fun was had by all.

The calendar contest is still going on, with bids still being made at Sunny Beach. If you want an appearance in the calendar next to a beautiful girl or handsome guy, come over and make a bid.

Club Zero Gravity's "Twisted Christmas" Party

Last night at the Club Zero Gravity space club, the venue had it's Christmas party. But this was one with a special twist, or rather a bit twisted. It was the "Twisted Christmas" party, one in which those fed up with certain elements of the holiday could blow off a little steam.

Has the overexposure of the season made you a little jaded? Have you heard so many classic carols, you could just say "Bah Humbug!" Has the overcomericalization made you feel like decking the next mall santa? Well then, come on over to our "Twisted Christmas" Night where DJ "Naughty Nydia" will give you holiday hilarity like you've never before heard with her range of parodies from mild to wild, with some tunes rated XXXmas. So forget "naughty or nice." Tonight is for those naughty *and* nice.

DJ "Naughty" Nydia Tungsten entertained the crowd with a range of music parodies sung by Bob Rivers, Weird Al, our very own Shockwave Yarreach, and others. Residents danced to songs such as "I Came Upon a Roadkilled Deer" (It Came Upon A Midnight Clear), "Christmas at Ground Zero," and "Grandma Got Knocked Up By a Reindeer" (Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer), and many more.

 

There were a variety of avatars present, furry, human, and neko, and in quite a range of outfits. Some were a bit underdressed for the camera, but not everyone. The space station's sprinkler system was rigged so a little snow could come down, which probably gave those a bit underexposed a slight chill.

There was also a 5000 Linden prize for the event.

Club Zero Gravity's events are normally Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 PM SL time. It's at Purrfection Estates  (232, 35, 3340).

A Celebration of Life in Memory of the Fallen

On Monday April 15th, Boston's famous marathon was the scene of a massacre when two bombs went off, killing three and hurt well over a hundred. Some were so badly injured, they had to have a limb or two amputated. It was the worst act of terror in the United States since Sept 11th 2001.

As this was the day Americans are due to pay income taxes, Club Zero Gravity was scheduled to hold a "Working Stiffs" event the following night. But with this event with two young adults and a child killed and many with lifelong injuries, Nydia wanted to change the theme to "a celebration of life and love." So the party was changed to a memorial event with a Best in White dress theme.

DJ Megatherion was the DJ for the space station club that night, with a number of people showing up, including Club Cutlass' Jenni Greenfield.

Following the memorial event was a more cheerful beach party down below at Happy Vixen Club, with Nydia herself taking charge of the DJ booth with a large selection of lighthearted tunes. Among the guests was Alleara Snoodle, whom has been noted for a number of builds and her work at the Chilbo Community.

As Nydia called it, a celebration of life and love.
