The Sunbeamers At Relaystock

Yesterday on June 30, the Relay for Life's fundraising season for 2024 came to a close. Among the teams taking part were the Sunbeamers, which ended at Ruby level and eleventh place. The team had taken part in a number of events to raise money. Among them was the Relaystock in mid-May, a tribute to the noted three day rock music festival in 1969. DJ Cynthia would head a band of dancers on stage. So how well did they do?

Xanadu's Grand Reopening

On Thursday June 17 at 6PM SL time, the Xanadu classic rock club reopened it's doors. For months, the club had no regular events as the owners dealt with real-life issues, though would play some impromptu ones. Finally, all was set to go.

Starting at the top of the hour it's the Xanadu Grand Re-Opening with DJ Christine playing various tunes on the theme of opening and starting over.  We have a spectacular new dance machine you can click as you walk in the door.  A new trivia machine.  A new lighting system.  And the sploder will be loaded.  Contest is come as you are, and we hope a good time will be had by all.

A number of partiers showed up, mostly from the local Sunweaver community, happy to see Xanadu in action once more. As advertised, there was a trivia ball answering some rock music-themed questions, some easier than others. Some were using a new dance ball, one that didn't have the people who clicked on it dancing in place but moved their position as it had them dance in synchronized patters.

At various points, hearts and soap bubbles filled the air. Then at one point, someone requested "We Didn't Start The Fire." To which DJ Christine responded over the radio she'd see about that, and the floor went aflame, looking more like "Disco Inferno."

Currently, Xanadu has two weekly events, Thursdays from 6-8PM and Saturdays 8-10PM. The club is looking to hire more DJs and hosts, and other staff.

Xanadu is co-owned by Perri Prinz (whom is also one of the DJs) and Recoyote Mindes. It is a member of the FCA, and located at HV Community (67/207/4051).

Club Xanadu Closing Indefinately

Club Xanadu's co-owner RECoyote Mindes informed the Newser that the venue would be closing it's doors to events. There are no plans to reopen, at least for now.

Xanadu, occasionally called "The Vinyl Museum," is jointly owned by RECoyote and Perri Prinz. The building is a classic rock club named for the movie in which the Pan Pacific Auditorium is restored to a nightclub. There have been several periods of hiatus when real-life interfered with the management, but the building has always stood there since it's construction.

Club Xanadu Reopens

Last night at 8PM SL time, November 6, Club Xanadu opened it's doors to a regular event for the first time in over a year. And a number of people dropped by the classic rock club, some from the Happy Vixen which had just finished it's Tuesday night events.

Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the club's Grand Reopening, with the setup behind her looking like one huge collection of records.

Perri Prinz and RECoyote Mindes, the cowners of the club, were out on the dance floor with the crowd. The music went on for two hours, Cynthia's last song being, "The Party's Over" by Journey.

"Thank you for coming and making the re-opening of Perri's Xanadu a success!"

Club Xanadu is located at HV Community (67/207/4051).

Xanadu Grand-Reopening Tomorrow

After a period of inactivity, the "Xanadu" classic rock club will soon be back in business. Perri Prinz, the current co-owner and manager, announced the club will have four events this week, starting with a Grand Re-Opening party on Tuesday at 8PM SL time. The theme will be "Come As You Are."

Xanadu, sometimes called "Perri's Xanadu" or "The Vinyl Museum," was established in 2009. It is owned by Perri and RECoyote Mindes, and is named for the movie in which the Pan Pacific Auditorium is restored to a nightclub. There have been a few periods of hiatus when real-life interfered with the management, but the building has always stood there since it's construction. Among some of the more noteworthy events were the Newser's Fifth Anniversary party and the "Fallout Party" in which Perri played tunes from the time period the game gets much of it's music. The club went inactive in July last year.

Currently, Perri is looking for more DJs, and an assistant manager. For now, it's schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8-10PM SL time.

Club Xanadu Goes on Hiatus

There was a little sad news for fans of Club Xanadu over the weekend. On Sunday July 16, Perri Prinz announced that she was taking an indefinite break from running shows there.

Due to health problems and other real life issues, I can no longer run events at Xanadu.  Any hosts and DJ's with cards in the boards can run events in the club as they please, but I don't expect I'll be around to help.  If somebody wants to take over, please do.  But otherwise I just have to let it slide.

The classic rock club first opened in the Sunweaver Estates in May 2009, co-owned by Perri and her partner RECoyote Mindes, its design based on the club in the movie of the same name, which in real life was the Pan Pacific Auditorium. Over the years, Perri has had a reputation of being a skilled DJ with a good knowledge of music, which was demonstrated at the "Fallout Party" in April. In March, the club reopened after a hiatus of over a year and a half. Besides music, Perri has also been known as a fiction writer, notably her serial sci-fi/fantasy story "Spectral Shadows." But lately she has done some nonfiction commentary concerning her opinion of the state of furry fandom and the threat of the radical-left Antifa group.

It is hoped that Perri's real-life troubles will ease so she will be able to return to DJing.

"Wootstock" at Raglan Shire

From Friday August 14 to Sunday August 16, the Tiny-themed community of Raglan Shire held their "Wootstock" event. The event was a mix of 60's counterculture and music, and the good-natured silliness and fun that Raglan's Tinies are known for.

The event was presented by the Raglan Shire Artisans Society. A number of DJs and musicians performed at the festival. Among them, Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlowe, Maximillion Kleene, Beth Odets, and Ganjo Mokeev, whom was performing on Sunday afternoon when I dropped by. The crowd gave him quite an approval, "APPAWS!" "PAWSHOME EXPERIENCE!!" "Tiny  HOOOOOOOO!!!" "Yesh!" "YEAH!! GANJO!! ROCK!! ROCK!! GANJO!!" And there was the usual Tiny silliness, "Ok now I don't need to bite Ganjos ankles. Woohoohahahaha!" "AWWAYS da time fer waffahs!" "Got to get ourselfs back to da Waffle House!!"

Not everyone at the event was Tiny. The musicians's crowds of fans happily followed them over. There were also some notable personalities from outside the Shire there, such as Toady Nakamura of Grendel's Children and RacerX Gullwing of the Snail Racers. Toady had turned into a psychedelic-colored frog, and RacerX had changed his black hat and suit to something resembling the front cover of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts."

The weather wasn't all sunny, but had it's own unpredictability. Woodstock in real life was known for it's mud, and mud comes from rain. At one point, the whole sim turned grey, and as the focus sharpened, it turned out to be a downpour. The Tinies then reached for their umbrellas.

Lots of fun was had by all.

Press Release: Lanterns for Life Presents RingSlingers in Concert

Come to Warriors Bar and enjoy a night a Classic Rock music.

Sunday, August 8th, 2015 starting at 5:00pm SLT

New OA (53/200/2752)

When I wanted to do a Relay For Life of Second Life event, I wanted something a little different than just hosting a dance with a DJ and Kiosk. I thought, "How about a band, too?"I had seen other groups put on "Concerts" with a DJ playing the music of a band like ZZTop and three avatars looking like the band playing the instruments.

So, I came up with RingSlingers. A cover band that sounds like the original singers of the songs. The name comes from out main group, a comic book fan group.

We have a DJ who plays, but we call them our SoundGuy, making us sound good. and we, the band, are on stage "Playing" the music.

So, it won't be live music, and won't be one band's music, but there will still be dancing and a lot of fun and a chance to donate more to RFL before the end of the season.

Classic Rock Club "The Vinyl" Goes on Hiatus

The Sunweaver Estates is known for it's clubs. But one of them has gone inactive, at least for now. This week, it was announced that the Vinyl Museum would be indefinitely closed to regular events.

Until further notice from Perri, Vinyl is semi-closed. The club is still open for use there just won't be any events until Perri comes online and is able to stay online to handle issues. We can't run with no Managers and DJs. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope this won't make you give up on us.

Opening in May 2009 as Club Xanadu, a classic club with the design based on the Pan Pacific Auditorium which in the movie "Xanadu" was turned into a club. with Perri Prinz and RECoyote Mindes as co-owners and Perri the regular DJ. Perri had a reputation for being a good DJ, with one of the best selections of 60s and 70s classic rock. Even though the club was later renamed "Green Meadows," and then "The Vinyl Museum," people have continued to call it "Perri's Xanadu," and more recently just "The Vinyl."

The club has temporarily closed a few times in the past, last reopening in December 2013. Taking the Tuesday and Thursday time slots that were done by Club Zero Gravity before it closed, the club has continued to do well until recently, being among those taking part in Second Life Newser's anniversary parties. But Perri has had to take an indefinite break from Second Life to help out family in real life. That led to the decision to put regular events on hold until the Sunweaver's popular bunnygirl DJ can return.

One Hot Party at "The Vinyl"

Thursday February 19 was "Best in Fire" at the classic rock club "The Vinyl." At 6PM, a number of residents dropped by to listen to the talented Perri Prinz spin a number of tunes in theme with the event. Most were wearing outfits to match the theme such as red or flame patters, or sporting demonic avatars or flame animations. The dance floor was also flickering with red hot flames, "Don't worry, it's concrete underneath."

DJ Perri played a number of smoking hot tunes, such as "Heat Wave," "Hot Line," "Disco Inferno," "Some Like it Hot," and Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire."

Love, is a burnin' thing,
And it makes, a firey ring.
Bound, by wild desire,
I fell, into a ring of fire.

I fell into a burnin' ring of fire.
I went down, down, down,
and the flames went higher.
And it burns, burns, burns,
the ring of fire, the ring of fire.

About two dozen attended the party that night. The prize that night for the best appearance in theme was raised to a red-hot $1250, of which Nikolinni Mhia was the winner.

"The Vinyl" has regular events held twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 PM SL time, and is located in HV Community (67/207/4051) .

The Vinyl Museum: The Club for Lovers of Classic Rock

Among the Sunweavers, Club Cutlass is their main club. But for those in the mood for a little music on Tuesday and Thursday nights, there's The Vinyl Museum. Built by RECoyote Mines and DJ Perri Prinz (who also does Sci-fi/Fantasy fiction), the place has the look of the place in the movie "Xanadu," and is well decorated with the look of a 70's classic rock club. Wesley Regenbogen stopped by to take a look at the location and have a few words with one of the co-owners.

Perri Prinz’s Green Meadows Club

One club that's been around for a few years that was built as a tribute to classic rock is Green Meadows, formerly known as Xanadu. Run by Perri Prinz and RECoyote Mindes, the club has events a few times every week. But as good as the music is, Perri being an expert of the music of the time period, the club is well designed to the point of being a work of art, in addition to a nearby building having a gallery of science-fiction/fantasy art. Recently, Grease Coakes went to Perri and Rec to ask about the club.

Relay Bike Rally at "Perri's Xanadu"

At 4PM SL time, The Passionate Redheads held their Biker Rally event. The location was the classic rock club Green Meadows, also known as "Perri's Xanadu." Club owner Perri Prinz acted as the DJ, spinning a number of tunes, mostly from the 60s & 70s. Many of course were biker-themed.

Several of the bikes were contributed by Twistmy Gears of the Road Rash group. But there were others from Daniella Looming and Brandi Streusel. Besides dancing, a few hopped on the bikes to spin around, or kick up a lot of smoke and noise in a "burnout." Close to two dozen people showed up, including Cocktail Lounge owner Rich Mordly, and FCA club alliance leader Nydia Tungsten.

About 4,000 Lindens were raised at the event, bringing the total raised by the Passionate Redheads team to 35,000 even.

The Green Meadows Club is at the HV Community sim at (68, 207, 4051).

Green Meadows Club Reopening Tonight

For some time, the Green Meadows Club (aka Perri's Xanadu) has had it's regular events on hiatus. Tonight, the classic rock is coming back for a "Feeling Groovy" late 60's party.

"Spring's in the air, and time to look back to the late '60s. Go get your bell-bottoms, your peace symbols, your pie-dyed t-shirts, and anything else psychedelic and bubblegum. DJ Perri will provide the classic tunage, with 500 L on the board. It's a blast from the past, and you're all invited. Peace out."

Formerly known as Xanadu, the club offers a 60's/70's feel, plus owner Perri Prinz is among the most knowledgable DJs in Second Life of the era, as well as playing top music from the 80's to today.

The event is tonight from 6-8 PM at HV Community (68, 207, 4051)
