Xanadu's Grand Reopening

On Thursday June 17 at 6PM SL time, the Xanadu classic rock club reopened it's doors. For months, the club had no regular events as the owners dealt with real-life issues, though would play some impromptu ones. Finally, all was set to go.

Starting at the top of the hour it's the Xanadu Grand Re-Opening with DJ Christine playing various tunes on the theme of opening and starting over.  We have a spectacular new dance machine you can click as you walk in the door.  A new trivia machine.  A new lighting system.  And the sploder will be loaded.  Contest is come as you are, and we hope a good time will be had by all.

A number of partiers showed up, mostly from the local Sunweaver community, happy to see Xanadu in action once more. As advertised, there was a trivia ball answering some rock music-themed questions, some easier than others. Some were using a new dance ball, one that didn't have the people who clicked on it dancing in place but moved their position as it had them dance in synchronized patters.

At various points, hearts and soap bubbles filled the air. Then at one point, someone requested "We Didn't Start The Fire." To which DJ Christine responded over the radio she'd see about that, and the floor went aflame, looking more like "Disco Inferno."

Currently, Xanadu has two weekly events, Thursdays from 6-8PM and Saturdays 8-10PM. The club is looking to hire more DJs and hosts, and other staff.

Xanadu is co-owned by Perri Prinz (whom is also one of the DJs) and Recoyote Mindes. It is a member of the FCA, and located at HV Community (67/207/4051).

Club Xanadu Reopening Tonight

The Sunweaver community's classic rock club is back in business.

Club Xanadu has been on hiatus. But earlier this week, Perri Prinz, the co-owner and manager of Club Xanadu announced that the venue would be reopening on Thursday June 17, today. The event will be from 6-8 PM, and this will be the first of events every week at this time.

Due to the fact that The Happy Vixen made a prime time slot available to us, we're going to give another shot at keeping Xanadu open for weekly events.  That will be Thursdays 6-8 PM SLT.  Starting this week.  We are now hiring staff, and we currently don't have any.  So if you think we won't hire you, think again.  We need DJ's, hosts, pole dancers, advertisers and teachers for the newbies.  I would also pay a lot for someone who could track down bugs in the sim and keep it running smoothly.

Xanadu is co-owned by Perri Prinz and Recoyote Mindes. The club is located at HV Community (67/207/4051). It has been around since 2009.

Xanadu is Back, Official Re-Opening Tonight

Some good news for fans of Club Xanadu. After being closed for months, the venue is back in operation. After some time in hiatus, co-owner and operator Perri Prinz felt it was time to bring the place up and running. She had planned for Monday night to start things up.

But then the unexpected happened. When Sunweaver Estate owner Rita Mariner tried to restart Sunweaver Bay where Club Cutlass was, the sim wouldn't come back online. So when it was time for the Saturday night party, the event was moved to Xanadu.

The theme was "Doctors and Nurses" as a salute to those on the front line combating the global Coronovirus epidemic. 3000 Lindens was on both the male and female boards, and the place soon had a number of people dancing away.

The contest was won by Zorro Wuramunga and Mieka May (MiekaRueon Resident) for men and women respectively.

Perri would write about the event on her Facebook page.

Surprise event at Xanadu last night because Club Cutlass was down from server issues. I was scheduled to DJ the Doctors & Nurses event at Cutlass. So we just brought everybody over to my club, and I got a bit of a bath of fire at getting back into club running, as nothing seemed to work at first. But nobody else seemed to notice any problems I was having.

The official Grand Re-opening is tonight, April 6, at 8PM SL time. For now, the club will be open three days a week from Monday to Wednesday 8-10 PM.

Xanadu is jointly owned by Perri Prinz and Recoyote Mindes. The building is a classic rock club named for the movie in which the Pan Pacific Auditorium is restored to a nightclub. There have been a few periods of hiatus when real-life interfered with the management, but the building has always stood there since it's construction.

Club Furzona

Cyfir (Cyfiremmerich) recently checked out a new club in Second Life, Club Furzona. Owned by Game Wylder, this is a reboot of the club with the same name that operated from 2010 to 2015, with much of the same staff. So what does the club have to offer?

Feral Furry Theater Returns to Sunweaver Space

Watching movies at the theater is a pastime that has been around for over a century. With the arrival of cable TV and video tape recorders, people have been able to watch them at home alone. But it's not quite the same as watching with a group of your buddies. In the Sunweaver community, people would watch movies at the inworld theater there, the Feral Furry theater, for years. But when updates to Second Life caused problems for movie viewing, the location was closed. But last Sunday, Shockwave Yareach announced the theater was once again open.

Club Zero Gravity Reopens

One of the best known clubs in the history of the Sunweaver/Angel community has been Club Zero Gravity. Originally a cubelike structure constructed by Shockwave Yareach, it took on the form of the space station it's been known for when rebuilt by Ranchan Weidman around 2009. The club would run for about four years from summer 2010 to August 2014. In it's last year, it was modified again, But it's "steel ball" form wasn't quite as well liked as the one it reopened under.

The sci-fi themed venue was so popular, there was interest in reviving it as soon as it's closing was announced. But where to put the club so it didn't "lag anyone out" and when would it play so it wouldn't interfere with the hours of other neighborhood clubs, it would take three years before solutions were found. Ranchan would work on a new design, one based on the one from seven years ago, but with some differences. Instead of a small private room above the dance floor and DJ booth, there would be an open lounge area for people to socialize and relax. The dance floor had an image of a galaxy, with a spinning spiral disk over the center. A blue terrestrial world would appear to circle the station, visible through it's windows. Since the original Zero Gravity got it's name from upside-down dance poles, there was one where a girl could dance from a spiral-pattern half ball from the ceiling. The old Zero Gravity logo was above the contest board. When someone tips the DJ, a laser light announces it.

Rather than just reopen the club, it was decided to rekindle interest by doing a screenshot sci-fi miniserial comic (parts 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, 9 and 10, final), with owner Nydia Tungsten, Ranchan, and Matoazma "Mato" Kazyanenko doing the work on the story, directing, and editing. The comic shows a crew in space finding an object that turns out to be a derelict space station. The second to final scene shows a ceremony in which Nydia is handed the keys, and the last announcing the space station club's reopening. The strips appeared in the Second Life Newser and posted on Facebook, the last one appearing on the morning of June 22. Later in the day, the reopening time was announced, 6PM SL time.

As 6PM approached, people began gathering at the club, with DJ Lexi "Sexy Lexi" Tymets, a nezumi or "anime mousegirl" spinning the tunes. Events at the Happy Vixen were canceled that night, the themes moved to next week, so the people at the beach club could get a look at the shiny new Zero-G. There was much cheering and celebration, and a 1000 Linden dollar prize for the best space-themed look. The prize was won by Nikkita (Aubrytia Resident).

For now, the club will have a morning, or "Euro-friendly," schedule, with events on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10AM to Noon SL time. DJ Lexi will perform on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday DJ Brandi will play the tunes. But there will be impromptu events, such as a poker game that was held over the weekend, and occasionally Nydia herself switching on the DJ booth and inviting people over.

After three years adrift, the "party among the stars" is back and better than ever. Beam on over for some space-themed fun.

Addition: Club Zero Gravity now has a gaming room (link).

For over a year, Club Xanadu, the classic rock club high above the HV Community sim in the Sunweaver area has been closed. Last Sunday, it finally reopened to a crowd happy to see it once again running. There was music, dancing, special effects, and joy that the beloved club was once again active.

Welcome Back Oahu

On Saturday January 7, The Oahu sim had their official grand-reopening party, the "Oahu Ohana." The party got started at 12 PM with some music, and at 1PM had a "Maori, hula, and fire" dance.

Twstd Ruggles (the lady in the grass skirt to the left) is the owner of Oahu. The sim had been up for several years, but closed sometime in early 2016 due to her real life financial situation. She informed the Newser on January 3 the sim was back and online, with the official celebration on Saturday.

On the other side of the island from the celebration stood the island's most noted feature, the USS Arizona memorial at (176/22/23), a tribute to those killed in the Imperial Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. People drop by the memorial, notably on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the Pearl Harbor anniversary on December 7. But the island also has much to offer people who just want to kick back and relax on the beach, watching the surf roll by.

Green Meadows Club Reopens

On Sunday night, January 13th, the Green Meadows club had it's Grand-Reopening. Dropping in at 6PM, when the party was to begin, there were about a dozen people there. Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the night. There were a few technical difficulties at first, but co-owner Perri Prinz got Cynthia logged in. And after that it was "Music from the Far Shore" as Cynthia played a number of classic rock tunes, keeping with the club's 60s and 70s theme.

More people showed up as time went on. The style of the club was complemented, as well as the lighting and special effects. There was 1000 available on male and female contests boards for the "Most Fabulous" avatars.

The club had first appeared in the Sunweaver region a few years ago, known then as Club Xanadu. The club was and still is co-owned by ReCoyote Mindes, and Perri Prinz, a DJ in Second Life as well as a science-fiction/fantasy writer known for her "Spectral Shadows" serial. Perri's music specialty is classic rock from the 60s and 70s, and the club reflected that, named for a movie about men chasing their dreams who renovate an old building into a club. Since then, the name was changed to avoid possible trouble. But people continue to call it "Perri's Xanadu." The club had been closed due to real life difficulties Perri had, but now is back.

The club will continue to play on Sundays at 6PM.

Green Meadows Club Reopens Tonight

On Sunday January 13th, the Green Meadows club in the HV Community sim will be reopening. The event is at 6PM, with DJ Cynthia providing the music.

Green Meadows, owned by Perri Prinz and ReCoyote Mindes has been around for a few years. It was originally named Club Xanadu in tribute to the movie of the same name about people chasing their dreams.  But it was later changed to avoid possible trouble with the makers with it's producers, renamed for a club in Perri's sci-fi/fantasy story "Spectral Shadows." But fans have continued to call it "Perri's Xanadu." The club itself was made as a tribute to the music of the 60s & 70's.  Perri herself is known for having a great collection of music from the time period.

When the FCA club alliance was formed, Green Meadows soon joined it. The FCA meets once a month at one of the club's auxillary buildings. But due to real-life difficulties, Perri closed the club to regular events for a time. Now the club is back, and ready to party. Between parties, one can play one of the video arcade games on the second floor.

Green Meadows is at HV Community (67, 207, 4051).

Sunweaver Estate's Cutlass Club Grand Reopening

On Sunday, February 5th, Sunweaver Estates chief Rita Mariner posted the following message for those in the group:

Sunnies: The Old Club Cutlass in now gone, the new one has been pretty much built and ready for inspection. Record the LM for the new Cutlass and come inspect it. Indio has done and incredible job!

When Rita transferred ownership of Sunweaver Air, now called the HV Community sim, one of the questions that came up was what would happen to it's popular Cutlass Club. Club owner Jenni Greenfield was inclined to keep it over Rita's land, and so it was decided to move it to Sunweaver Space. But it would be more than just moved, but rebuilt. A few residents thought it was time for a change from the "pyramid" look it had for the past few years. And so Indio Quinnell, with help from Shockwave Yareach, took on the job of constructing the new Cutlass.

Cutlass had originally looked a lot more pirate, starting out when it was in the Booty Bay sim. So the decision was made to go back to that. It was also desired to give it a look different from most other clubs. The result was a floating saucer, but not a space-age one. Stepping onto the club when it was revealed on Sunday, it had a steampunkish look to it with the rusty steel and steam pipes, some of whic blew steam. It also had something of a run-down look to it, the mall area downstairs having broken steps. Someone joked that the chakat avatars used on occasion, which in the stories could weigh a few hundred pounds were to blame. The dance floor had not a skull & crossbones, but a bunny head outline with a heart-shaped patch over one eye, most likely a friendly jab at Rita's bunnygirl avatar.

With the new club in place, with a few last minute touches still yet to be made such as the DJ board, the Sunweaver residents online at the time threw an impromtu party at the newly rebuilt club (about a dozen more residents showed up after the picture at the top was taken), dancing to the tunes Indio had on.

The new location is now at Sunweaver Space (243, 87, 123)

Green Meadows, aka Perri's Xanadu, Reopens

Fans of RECoyote Mindes & Perri Prinz's Club Xanadu, which sadly closed it's doors in Feb 2010, have something to cheer about. On 8PM on September 14th, the club officially reopened.

Greetings friends of the club formerly known as Perri’s Xanadu. Our grand re-opening starts now with a big blow-out classic rock party. Come enjoy some happy tunes and win linden dollars for best in rock music attire.

Reopened under the name "Green Meadow Lands Ballroom," the venue "is a retro themed dance club and lounge, geared towards those who like various types of older music, mainly 70's & 80's and older. We play the usual oldies interspersed with unusual tracks that you may not have heard before. We play Disco, Classic Rock, New Wave, Progressive Rock, Jazz, Novelties, or whatever the mood seems to call for at the moment. It's a groovy hang out where you can dance, socialize, or just sit and listen to the music. Everyone is welcome.”

Set on a platform high over Sunweaver Air, the club is based on the Pan Pacific Auditorium, which was the building used in the movie Xanadu. The interior is dominated by a discotech dance floor, which can also double as a roller-rink should there be such an event, the skates available on the wall from a dispenser. Having the look of a disco club from the past, the place has a number of posters and album covers up. The stacks of vinyl records

The place is also built to be a hangout, with some chairs, including at least one cuddle-chair, set up. There's also some video games set up on the upper level, which link to playable video game websites online.

A small number of people dropped by for the opening party. Two prizes of 250 Lindens went to one lucky male and female. A random prize dispenser gave out various smaller prizes.

The name “Green Meadowlands Ballroom” comes from Perri’s Spectral Shadows stories posted online. The venue is a member of the FCA club alliance, which includes Club Zero Gravity and Club Little Dove. For now, Green Meadows will have two events a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 PM SL time.

The club is located at Sunweaver Air (69, 201, 4051)
