"Have Yourself A Pixelated Christmas"

Have yourself a pixelated Christmas...
may your screens be light...
From now on our dramas will be out of sight...
Have yourself a pixelated Christmas...
Whether straight or gay...
may your friends TP in from sims away....
Here we are as in olden days...
shopping marketplace's stores...
Faithful friends who are dear to us....
TP near to us, once more...
Through the years we'll all log on together...
if the net allows...
Hang a star-shaped prim upon the highest bough....
and have yourself a merry SL Christmas... now.

Relay Poem

Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning
So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there

Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same.... GO RELAY

"No More Relay!!" By Catt Gable

Don’t get me wrong . . .
I feel privileged to serve,
To stand or sit and wait for someone to need me
at the ACS Island Information Area.
Ready to answer questions and offer directions,
wearing a warm smile and
my Greeters’ blouse with the RFL logo

But I live . . . no . . . I Relay for the day
When no one will land, look around, see me
and say, “Hi. I just found out I have cancer,
and I don’t know where to go.”

I weep for the day someone isn’t standing before me
shaking with tears in real life and with gestures
because they are too young . . .
How could this be happening to them.

To not have a Survivor or Caregiver come to my aid
and offer to take some soul under their wing,
to let them know they are not alone
and here they have found haven.
That’s what I want.

Because when all that ceases,
it means we have found the Cure,
that cancer has been defeated!

It is
[19:41]  Cinders Vale:  my hope, my prayer
that because of our Victory
my watch can finally end,
and I can finally say . . .

No More Relay!!

By Catt Gable, of the Relay Rockers RFL team, whom passed away last week, the news of her death reaching Second Life on Saturday. A memorial service is being planed.

All In A Day’s World

A figure ran past me the other day while I was in my shop on Book Island.
I was in the middle of a phone conversation and he escaped before I greeted him.
But not wanting to be rude, especially in front of my own booth.
I IM’d him with an apology.
What followed was a long conversation with someone from the Ukraine.
He spoke little English, I spoke no Ukrainian whatsoever.
But we discussed literature at length, mentioned a few authors.
These were Russian authors, one I had never heard of.
Unfortunately, I didn’t give him a list of American authors like he asked for.
I was too eager to find out what was big in the Ukraine.
But there will undoubtedly be future conversations.
That I will squeeze between those I have with people from China.
Or those from England, living in China for several years
Or my good friend from Australia,
Well, you get the point.
Book Island is a focusing point for worldwide culture.
One of many throughout the Internet.
They foster Worldwide communication.
Which can only stimulate Worldwide Peace
Personally, I’m waiting peacefully for the next international connection…..

Book Island Poem "The Celebration is Under Way!"

The Book Island Celebration is well under way;
Arton, Selina, and Alex have all come to play;
The Treasure Hunt has started, the raffle’s been won,
And the biggest events have yet begun.

So forgive my English, or a bad rhyme or a pun,
The whole event has been spearheaded for fun.
And if my prose doesn’t get in your way
We’ll have a wonderful, great thirty days.

There’s Selina’s address (of The Isle she’ll speak);
She has five years of Isle stories, and pictures to peek.
And, after her lecture, there’s plenty to be heard
But not all will be a spoken or a rhyming word.

It won’t take but a pause for the dances to flow,
While Aianna lets her written thoughts go,
Before the parties erupt in music and song
With writing in motion, to miss it would be wrong.

Check into a dance, any one, if not three;
Plenty of variety, there surely will be.
Hosted and DJ’d by quality folks
Who’ll sing, play, and spin to grease up your spokes.

There’s Chandra Deed, who brings classics to hear
Music to be heard while sipping ale or beer;
With Brendan Shoreland, a voice and a pick,
Who spins out the songs, with a guitar he’s so slick.

There’s Layna Chrome, who has been called an Angel
But gets down and dirty at the sound of a bell.
Singers and players, a terrific bunch to hear and to see ;
Nothing I’d miss if it were up to me.

So pop into the Island, walk in or transport;
Here’s plenty of shoreline to act as a port;
Drop in or fly in, TP or sail in, or maybe you’ll ride
(Just be sure if you’re on horseback to come in at low tide).

Meet the usual visitors, some new folks as well
And we’ll start up a Cherita, or give each other hell.
We are all friends, to dance or to tease,
To tire with dance or laugh, ‘till you drop to your knees.

Press Release: Milk Wood's 3rd Annual March Poetry Fest

We have much pleasure in announcing that this year's poetry fest will take place at Milk Wood Writers' Colony and Showcase from Friday 30th March - Sunday 1st April, 2012.

The poetry fest will embody the edginess and energy that is currently exploding across the Second Life® poetry scene. It provides a 3-day opportunity for some of the best poets to display and perform on one of the first writing sims created in Second Life® - now 5 years old.

How to Get Involved :

There are several ways you can get involved. You can choose to exhibit your work in one of our easels or in the fallen leaf displays (which enable you to exhibit your poetry in simple notecard format).

If you choose the easel route you will be given a special easel with a script that allows several pieces of work to be installed. The viewer simply clicks on the easel and the display automatically changes screen.

In addition to the easel exhibits and fallen leaf displays, we will have readings by popular poets throughout the festival.

We also have a special Book Fayre for artists to display more of their creativity. Be sure to rent asap if you want to take up the offer of our 2 weeks free rent.􀀀. We plan building a stage area for Book Fayre renters to promote their work through readings and our Virtual Book Tours interview.

If you are interested in displaying your work and/or reading please email Harri at harriet.gausman@googlemail.com

Several people have offered to help build your displays for you so if you don't have the skills to perform this yourself, please contact us and we will put you in touch with them.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best Wishes,

Milk Wood Writers' Consortium
