Jeddin's Underground City

In Second Life, one can find many things. But how about a novel? Or rather, an underground city based on a science fiction novel. Jeddin Laval showed me the build based on his novel "Descending Road." A creative work in it's own right, it describes numerous scenes and aspects of his stories of a city on a colony world far in the future.

Passionate Redheads Hold Opening Event for RFL 2012

One day after the Relay for Life Kickoff, the Passionate Redheads held their opening event in Southern Colorado at the "Palais Du Soleil." It was an evening full of music, dancing, and chuckles. Besides the donation kiosks, those at the party could buy tickets to a raffle, with a limited edition motorbike as the prize.

Sunweaver Landlady's Real-Life Family Suffers Tragedy

The following was sent as group notices yesterday and today for the Sunweavers.

Rita's RL sister's and her RL nephew and his family, GF, daughter and son, die in fire, this past Tuesday morning. Only one boy survives after jumping from second story window. Here is the link to the news: http://www.fox2now.com/news/ktvi-8-year-old-dies-two-days-after-fatal-fire-20110818,0,5069209.story

It appears there was a working fire detector in the house and it went off. Lauren (mother), perhaps Cameron too, were attempting to get the kids out of the house, but were overcome by the smoke, during the attempt. Only Dominic made it to safety. Sabine and Daaneth McGettigan are collecting for my sister and her loss, if you wish to donate to help out.

Club Zero Gravity is Saved

After the announcements Sunday and Monday about Club Zero Gravity's closing, people talked. Although folks understood the club was closing due to events beyond Nydia's control, a number expressed their desire that it continue.

Certain others made inquires and offers, both to Nydia and to others. Finally, Zero Gravity was able to make the following news:

Club Zero Gravity is Back.

Good News everyone. After some discussion and offers of help, it looks like there's enough funds to cover Club Zero Gravity. So the "party beyond the stars" continues.

Special thanks to Daaneth McGettigan (Daaneth Kivioq) and Timber Wolfenhaut.

For fans of Little Dove whom were looking forward to it opening, it will be getting occasional events, a schedule currently being worked on.

And so, the party beyond the stars goes on.

Club Zero Gravity is at the Purrfection Estates (229, 11, 2265). Events are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6PM SL time. Saturdays at 4PM are beach parties at the "Happy Vixen" on the surface (TP near the LM).

RFL: The Redheads' "Last Blast"

On Thursday night 6PM SL time in the Southern Colorado sim, the Passionate Redheads Relay for Life team got together for one final event of their own for the Relay season. Dubbed "The Last Blast Party," it was to celebrate their fundraising this year, in addition to looking back on the fun they had. The event was sponsored in part by KVXN Radio.

Daaneth Kivioq was the DJ for the event, and with the walk around the track so much on their minds, most of the songs he played were about walking. The tunage included Phil Collins' "On My Way," "Footloose," "We Did the Walk of Life," Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again," Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line," and Elvis Presley's "Blue Suede Shoes," and "Never Walk Alone." Someone had a birthday, so the Beetles' song "Hey Hey, It's Your Birthday" was also played. And a team favorite, "Calypso."

Probably a total of two dozen attended the party, more than a dozen at any one time. Further donations for the Relay were accepted instead of tips, many of which came from purchases of a Passionate Redheads' calendar, made by Timber Wolfenhaut, whom also had the privilege of taking all those pictures of the girls in their swimsuits. Also for sale for charity was a cookbook. And the awards won by the Redheads were also on display, such as the gold and platinum awards.

As 8 PM neared, Daan played one final song, in honor of Artistic Fimicloud, with fireworks going off overhead, illuminating the "Little Dove" blimp overhead, "Run for Life"

I run for hope, I run to feel

I run for the truth, for all that is real

I run for your mother, your sister, your wife

I run for you and me my friend

I run for life

And after that, the Redheads went their seperate ways, some looking forward to next season. Over 5,000 Lindens were raised at the "Last Blast."

Sothern Colorado Turns Purple

On Monday May 9th, I got a message from Daaneth Kivioq to meet him in Southern Colorado. Getting there, I was met by him, micro Lomgren Smalls, and my bunnygirl neighbor Sabeen. Moments later, we were greeted by a blonde lady thr group called “Kitty “ for short.

As the sim rezzed, I noticed something was different. Daaneth then greeted me in voice, saying in honor of “Turn the Grid Purple” week, he had his Southern Colorado sim colored purple.

It was, strange, almost surreal, the colors at sunset and sunrise fairly striking. Daan and we talked for a little bit. Daan reminded us he was slowly getting beter, and looked forward to being at another event.

The sim will presumably return to normal after Friday the 13th.

A Message From Daaneth Kivioq

Earlier today (Sunday May 1st), I was contacted by Daaneth Kivioq, by way of a voice chat. He asked me to teleport to Southern Colorado, saying there were a few things he wanted to explain.

Getting there, still in voice, he told me he wanted me to pass a message on, "I'd like to thank everyone. I can't begin to express how grateful I am to have to have such a bunch of friends. I couldn't have gotten through this without Sabine (McGettigan) ... I am so grateful to have her here. ... I'd like to thank Shockwave for his kind offer to pay for the sim. Southern Colorado is not going anywhere. It has automatic payment set up."

"I'd like to explain what happened. The stroke, it was a complete shock. The hardest part, you don't know what you really lost. The ability to type, that's a hard problem. There's no way to describe it. It hits you like a hammer without warning ... I had the presence of mind to stay conscious, call for help. One of my good friends was around to help me. ..."

The connection began to go bad, and Daaneth told me he had to go, saying he was very much looking forward to meeting up with everyone.

I couldn't see Daan's av at all, and he himself told me he could only see a cloud. But the important thing was our friend was on his way back.

"Getting stronger, every day."

Southern Colorado Sim Due to Vanish

When Daaneth Kivioq of Relay for Life’s team “Passionate Redheads” suffered a stroke earlier this month, team members gave their support to their stricken comment in both well-wishes and an event held in his honor. But a few raised one question: “What happens to Daaneth’s sim, Southern Colorado?”

Sad to say, it seems the sim’s days are numbered. Talking to team leader Sabine McGettigan and team member Nydia Tungsten, the sim was paid for another month, but after that nothing, “More renters on the sim would otherwise help, but without a way to get them into Daan’s ... account, there’s just no way.”

Southern Colorado has been the location of a number of Relay for Life events by the Passionate Redheads, from weekly meetings, to music and dance parties, and more. Nydia’s zeppelin club, Little Dove, is there, as is Fimi Falls, named after a Redhead whose battle and end to cancer continues to inspired teammates, many whom know her only by stories.

If you’ve never visited the sim, by all means do so. There is much to see there, including the rental village sometimes overlooked by Relayers heading to events. But what draws many are the falls, which were one of the favorite locations of the late Artistic Fimicloud.
