RFL Announcement: Sunbeamers Make Ruby!

 

 

 Late last night on the evening of June 4, following the Relay Sunbeamer team's weekly Moon Dance event, Cynthia Farshore announced in the Relay's Discord channel they had crossed the one and a quarter million Linden dollar mark, and were now Ruby level fundraising.

 

Sunbeamers got Ruby at the Moon Dance, going to need the camp marker changed! (excited grin) 

 

In the Sunbeamer's own group, she would happily announce, "We did it, at the end of the Moon Dance tonight we made Ruby!" Journey Texan would respond, "Congratulations, Cynthia and all Sunbeamers. That is fantastic! Thanks for all you do during Relay season. You definitely deserve to reach Ruby."

 

As of now, the Sunbeamers are eighth of 202 registered teams in fundraising.

Good news for the Relay for Life's team Sunbeamers, and the Relay in general. Yesterday, Sunday May 24, team captain Rita Mariner announced the team had reached Ruby Level Fundraising, or the 1,250,000 Linden dollar mark, or five thousand dollars USD. 

The team would also get it's Ruby badge that day.

As of now, the Sunbeamers are ninth of the top ten teams in fundraising.

RFL Sunbeamers Reach Sapphire Level

 

 

On Monday morning on her Discord channel, Cynthia Farshore announced the Relay for Life in Second Life's Team Sunbeamers had reached a total of 774,741 Lindens, or $3098 USD. The team is now Sapphire level. The team is in ninth place

The top three teams are The River of Life with a total of 2,887,458 Linden dollars raised, The Adult Partnership having raised 2,789,981 Lindens, and Camping for a Cure which has collected 2,542,753 Linden dollars. All three are Crimson level fundraising.

RFL Team Sunbeamers Reach One Million Lindens, Emerald Level

On the late morning of Sunday June 12, the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers passed a goal that was looking doubtful. They finally passed the one million Linden dollar mark.

We made Emerald! Or as Dr. Evil might say, "One, million, Lindens!"

Great, but one small complication for yours truly, whom has to own up to a commitment. 

Yep, yours truly to help provide incentive for people to donate stated that if the team made Emerald, I'd go female for a week, as a clone of the team captain, Rita Mariner. And as Rita was pink thanks to a Bid Me, it was the pink Rita Clone. 

The team camp marker was quickly updated with a new badge to show the new rank. 

As of now, the Sunbeamers are 13th among the 138 teams in terms of cash raised.

Sunbeamers Reach Jade Due To Anonymous Donor

The weekend of May 8-10 was very much a successful one for Team Sunbeamers. On Friday May 8, the day DJ Matt was playing at the Fantasy Faire, an anonymous donor donated a huge amount of Lindens, sending the team past the half million mark, or Jade fundraising level.

"I checked the web site total early today and it was 473,100," Cynthia Farshore told me near the end of the day, "I knew we needed 26900 to make 500k ... which 26900 plus the over totals ...64,968! So just today we racked in just under 65k." Team Captain Rita Mariner would later say, "I am curious as all heck, who pushed us over the hump into JADE. I have no clue and it came as a huge happy surprise to me."

Saturday was the day of the multi-team event at Meli's Maniac's Club Amarantha. The Bring Your Own Kiosk event was a fantastic success for the Maniacs, with over 80,000 Lindens brought in. At one point, they pulled their kiosk down so the other teams there would get more cash. By Monday, their team total would cross the 100K mark to 102,000 Lindens. The Sunbeamers would make a little over 10,000 L at the party.

On Saturday night, the results of Shockwave Yareach and Cyanthia's two "Bid Me" events were totaled at Club Cutlass. It had been expected they would be having a change of appearances for a few weeks, but like with Nydia's event a few weeks ago, there was a last minute surprise. Enough money had been donated in their "stay" kiosks to keep them as is.

Talking to Cynthia, she was a little worried if some people were disappointed at the results, expecting a change. But Rita was happy, saying the team had gotten almost 48,000 Lindens as a result.

As of now, the Sunbeamers have raised 582,100 Linden dollars. And the team still has much to do. There's a special event by the Sunbeamers this Friday at a special location, plus a "Moon Dance" at Sunlight Bay a week from now on Tuesday May 19. Both events are Bring Your Own Kiosk. The team is confident of reaching Sapphire rank, 750,000 Linden dollars soon.

RFL: Team Sunbeamers Pass 160,000 Lindens

Team Sunbeamers had been saving up all winter to get an early start in the Relay season, and in December had raised enough for Gold level fundraising. But when the kiosks were first delivered, the Lindens were loaded into it too early by mistake. But thanks to a little help, the team was given the proper credit for the donated money. Since the minor incident, almost 16,000 was raised and added to the kiosk as well, for a total of 160,000 Linden dollars. This isn't too far from Platinum. So yours truly will likely be going through his "Platinum Avatar Challenge" soon.

Expect a "Bid Me" event or two soon.  And not far from now, the Sunbeamer Air Show.

Sunbeamers Hit Platinum!

Once again, "The Little Team That Could" has done it. For the fourth year in a row, the team has gone beyond Gold level fundraising to Platinum. After reaching 200,000 Linden dollars a few days ago, there were some sizable donations, including team captain Rita Mariner. And so on late afternoon April 29, the amount raised for this year reached 250,000 Linden dollars.

There were a few little incentives for people to donate. Nydia Tungsten volunteered to be purple for a short time. DJ Geerkil Ziskey and two others on the "Epic Failure" team will be switching to Yinglet avatars for a while. And then there's the matter of a certain fox who offered to switch to a pink avatar, at least for club and smaller Relay events, for a week (everywhere else such as the Fantasy Faire, I can go back to red fox). Like the first two times this "Platinum Avatar Challenge" was done, it's something I've never done before. The big reveal is today at the Happy Vixen club at 4PM.

RFL Team Sunbeamers Reach Gold, Pass 150,000L Mark

Saturday April 13 was the Sunbeamer Air Show at Farshore Field in Sunlight Bay. This was the sixth air show hosted by Cynthia Farshore held by the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers. Despite some technical glitches related to the "teleport disconnects" issue that caused some planes in flight to crash, the crowd enjoyed the event  The event also netted almost 50,000 Linden dollars for the team, increasing it's total almost fifty percent to a little past 150,000 Linden dollars.

And another successful air show, thanks to Cynthia Farshore. People were doing the blimp race, and taking Snowy's balloon tours.  Not only did the team reach Gold level fundraising, it kept going to 150,000. We're well on our way to Platinum level.

What the Sunbeamers want for the long term is for the team to achieve last year's record-setting fundraising level once more: Emerald rank. One complication though is the amount of money it will take has been raised some. Achieving Emerald level will take a whopping one million Linden dollars. For now, the next goal of the team is Platinum level, or 250,000 Lindens. As an incentive, yours truly is offering "The Platinum Avatar Challenge," taking on an unusual look for a week. The first couple times I did so, I took on looks I had never been in public before. What will it be this time, I have yet to decide, though have heard suggestions such as being the Rita clone again, or a Crux hybrid.

Our next event will be this Saturday April 20 at the Happy Vixen Club in Purrfection Estates. The beach club will be host to a six hour event with three DJs, with all tips going to the Relay kiosk.

RFL Team Sunbeamers Reach Silver

The Relay for Life's team of the Sunweaver community has gone up a notch. On Wednesday night, the total amount of Lindens raised for the Sunbeamers reached 50,000, or Silver rank, followed by an announcement. 

Beamers:  We are now SILVER level and both Bixyl and Liska are now tagged with going 4 weeks each, on their BID MEs.  Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Team Captain Rita Mariner hinted at, much of the money came from donations to the "Bid Me Human" and "Bid Me Deer" fundraisers. The team total has continued to grow, as of the writing of this article, almost 53,000 Lindens. A number of other teams have also reached Bronze and Silver ranks.

So what happens after March 15 for the two volunteers? Time will tell.
