Sneak Peek: The Newser SL15B Exhibit
Some last minute work on the SL15B exhibit for the Newser before the sims were temporarily closed to builders on Thursday at Noon. Yours truly had the idea of putting up some pictures from across Second Life history on the fifteen floors of the tower, one for each year. Unfortunately, I ran past the prim limit, and had to take some down. Oh well, I should be able to keep a few up.
The sims open Sunday at noon. So be there at the Second Life Fifteenth Birthday celebration.

Announcement: This Week At The Science Circle: Catalysis in Wonderland 2"
"Catalysis in Wonderland 2: An SL presentation of classic transition-metal chemistry"
By Dr. Mike J. Shaw
Saturday June 17
10 AM SL time
"Organic chemistry follows certain rules. Starting in the 1950’s, we began to find ways that transition metals (e.g. chromium, iron, nickel, rhodium, gold and many others) could bend the rules of classic organic chemistry and facilitate chemical transformations which would otherwise be onerous. One example of the utility of transition metals as applied to organic chemistry is in catalysis, i.e. the transformation of starting materials into products through an easy-to-traverse sequence of steps. Today, catalysts mediate a wide range of reactions, from improving the quality of air (e.g. catalytic converters) to the production of plastics, medicines and other chemical transformations. This talk is a continuation of our discussion of catalysis where we will review the basics of “organometallic” catalysis reactions such as “oxidative addition”, “insertion”, and reductive elimination. These steps allow a metal complex to catalyze a reaction without itself being changed. These principles will be illustrated through lecture and scripted objects. The talk will discuss in detail the issues of “handedness” and how a catalyst can imprint its “handedness” on the final product."

Press Release: Fifth Annual Relay For Life Farshore Field Air Show Fly-in
Team Sunbeamers welcomes you to the 5th Annual RFL Sunbeamer Air Show Fly-in.

The Sunbeamers team welcomes you to the 5th Annual Farshore Field Steampunk Air Show Fly-in this Saturday the 16th of June between the hours of 8AM to 4PM SLT. There will be planes on display with information about them. Some Pilots will be on hand to give rides and flight demonstrations or you can just BYOAP [Bring Your Own AirPlane] and stunt around yourself.
During the show there will be a number of activities to participate in. These activities we ask for a donation to the Relay For Life kiosk located at each. These include being shot out of a cannon straight up to about 300 Meters where a provided parachute gently brings you back down. You keep the special RFL 2018 textured parachute for free. Then you can help cool each other by taking turns dunking your partner in a nice cool dunk tank, that is instead of a beanbag you fire a German 88mm shell into its target!! How often do you get to shoot such an historical gun? There will be other activities so come explore as well as many fun spots around the sim.
From 4PM till 6PM SLT there will be an after flights dance and activities in The Goblin Cave located on the hill over looking the field. No theme dressing needed, no contest, just socializing and relaxing after a hard day of flying.

Happy Flag Day
It's Flag Day in the United States. Doing a search inworld, I came across a place with a lot of them, and for free. They're at the World Peace Flag Garden in Odaesan (81/151/42). I found many dozens of flags, not just of the USA and Canada, but also state and provincial ones, and flags from around the world from major nations to numerous tiny ones. The place is next to Thor's Oak Christian Men's Center.http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Odaesan/81/151/42

SL15B Sneak Peek: At The Holodeck
Somewhere hidden in the grounds of the SLB public buildings is a holodeck, like the one found in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and it's spinnoffs. A few questions come to mind, such as if one uses a rest room here, do the contents get disintegrated. And this being Second Life, would a holodeck here be a holodeck in a holodeck?

First Weekly Summertime Fireworks of The Year at Livingtree
On Saturday June 9 at 8PM SL time, a summertime tradition resumed in Second Life after a break if several months: Marianne McCann's weekly fireworks show. During the summertime, Marianne likes to light up a pyrotechnic display at "Kick the Can" in the Livingtree sim every Saturday. And now, it was time to begin once more.
Marianne told those in her friends list the news a new moments before the show, and a number teleported over. The crowd "Ooooo"ed and "Ahhhhh"ed as the dark skies lit up and filled with color. DJ GoSpeed Racer provided the music for the event, though the sounds of the firecrackers going off could occasionally partially muffle the music. Much of the crowd came from Bay City, though Livingtree is apparently far away from it (one could be fooled just by looking at the people instead of the map). Not everything went according to plan, though. At one point some of the pyrotechnics were going off not in the air, but on the ground. And the watching crowd ended up in the muddle of the light show.
Before long, GoSpeed was playing her ending theme, "Man or Astroman." And the fireworks came to a close, and least for another week. Those who missed this first show can make plans to head to Livingtree next Saturday night.

SL15B Sneak Peek: Bathroom Humor
Going about the SL15B grounds, eventually, one will feel the call of nature. But going to the bathroom, there was no toilet paper. Only three sea shells. Sea shells? How are sea shells going to help someone in the bathroom?
For those who don't get the joke, Click Here.
Addition: The SLB volunteers have been a little more cautious about people posting sneak peeks this year, so we got the okay for this and one other for before the weekend.

The White Vixen Enterprises Party
The Happy Vixen beach club and the Club Zero Gravity space club are the best known parts of White Vixen Enterprises, owned by Nydia Tungsten. But the organization also runs the Purrfection Estates sim, does a number of music videos, and more. Several days ago, Nydia threw a party the staff of the group at Mousehole Manor in Pacific Waters.
It is that time of year again, time for the WVE staff party to say thank you to all of YOU. YOU make these clubs and projects work there will be TWO THOUSAND L's up for grabs with DJ Snowbuns taking her turn spinning the tunes for you all. It will be at the castle from 7 to 10 sltBesides the club DJs, hosts and hostesses, and managers, sim managers, and others, some friends of the group were also invited over. But only those considered staff were eligible for the contest prize of 2000 Lindens. DJ Snowbuns, aka Skylark Lefavre, played the music for the party with a mix of rock and pop from easygoing to energetic. Skylark does double-duty at the Happy Vixen as a manager and one of it's DJs. Club Zero Gravity is run by Ranchan Wiedman with help from Matoazma Kazyanenko.
A great time was had by Nydia and her friends during the event that went on for a little more than three hours. The large prize was split between three people. It was a well-deserved break for the staff.

Reader Submitted: Game Review - Subnautica, Part Five
Rita Mariner has been doing reader-submitted articles about a new favorite game of hers: the ocean-based survival game of Subnautica. In earlier parts of the series, she wrote about what to do at the start and the middle part of the game. Part five is about what do do when getting to the Lost River, having to deal with acidic spots and still more powerful creatures.
Read Rita's reader submission in Other Grids, MMOs, and Games.
The Newser Anniversary Party
With the Newser celebrating it's giving the readers the news about the people, places, and events across Second Life big and small, it was time to take a moment to kick back and celebrate. So on Saturday June 2, a party was held at the Happy Vixen beach club. Quite a number showed up, reporters, locals, and fans of the paper. And a good time was had by all.

OS Grid Hypergrid Business "Winding Down" After Nine Years
For fans of Opensim, some sad news. HyperGrid Business, the leading source of news and other articles about the OS grids has been scaling back it's coverage lately. Maria Korolov, the editor, stated they have just two more articles, "after that, there's nothing else in the pipeline."
"What's Next?" Maria stated, "I’m going to continue maintaining the site itself, so that the article archives stay up, and all the resources stay available. I’m also going to do a monthly active grids list — just the list of active grids, not any of the usage stats. I’ll stop updating the list of popular hypergrid destinations, since I’ll no longer have the traffic numbers.I’ll continue running press releases and guest columns, and the free ads will stay up. We might do a short news piece or two each month as well."
Of her cutting back, "The reasons are both personal and practical. Personally, I’ve moved on from covering virtual worlds to covering cybersecurity and, most recently, artificial intelligence. ... I barely spend any time in OpenSim anymore."
"Practically, there was once a strong possibility that OpenSim would evolve into an open source, virtual reality metaverse. That’s not happening. Our viewers are still stuck where they were ten years ago, without any real support for web or mobile access or for virtual reality headsets. All projects to address that issue seem to have faded away. Instead, the focus has shifted to VR-native platforms from Google, Facebook, and, to some degree, Microsoft. We don’t know yet what Apple is cooking up, but they’re busy as well.
"It’s increasingly looking like the whole SL-OpenSim ecosystem has hit a dead end. It will probably continue to exist as a niche platform for its half million active monthly users, shrinking slightly each year until it’s just a nostalgia thing, like text-based adventure games or manual typewriters."
Those commenting on Korolov's article tended to support her observation about OpenSim. One stated, " The open source developers have been great, but if OS is not to degenerate into an historical curiosity, there needs to be a linking of business cases and investments with resources and developers. Investors need to understand the need for Open Source, and OS developers need to be open to dealing with the changes that come with resources." Another commented, " It does feel like we are stuck in Limbo at the moment. ... Opensim development seems to have hit a dead end." A third remarked, "To get to the next level of user involvement is going to take a lot of development. The kind of capitalization needed to do that means big players will develop it. Yes, there is the possibility of a grass roots development effort, but that is much harder to coordinate." But one remained optimistic about OpenSim, "I think Opensim still has a lot going for it and for those of us that still use Second Life too and are perfectly happy still using our PC's."
Hamlet Au didn't agree with Korolov's comments, at least in regards to Second Life, " I don't quite buy that last bit, because unlike OpenSim, Second Life is still backed by a profitable company with a highly engaged, highly monetized userbase, giving Linden Lab enough money to evolve ... . As with many open source-based projects, OpenSim was relying almost solely on the community spirit and voluntary work of assorted tinkerers and enthusiasts -- and that rarely leads to a commercial product with a consumer userbase." It was his wish though that Hypergrid Business somehow find a way to continue on, "maybe a benefactor could buy the site and take over?"

Announcement: This Week At The Science Circle: “Student Virtual World Science Projects in Sine Space”
"Student Virtual World Science Projects in Sine Space”
Saturday, June 9th at 10AM - 11AM PDT
Members here at Science Circle regularly attend our meetings for online discussions and collaboration. On June 9, I will discuss my attempts to get my students to collaborate and work together online. Sine space seems to provide the online networking in a safe networked environment we need. One of my students has created a space colony for Europa, and another has created a geological simulation called Eagle Rock, based on an actual area in Virginia. The creator of the sims can control who has access to the sim and can even delete it if so desired.
An optional field trip will be given at the end of the lecture. Details on how to log in will be giving at the end of the lecture. These sims can be accessed with a web browser and a guest account. Although the sine space client for pc and an account is recommended at https://sine.space.

Team Sunbeamer's "Bid Shockwave Goat" Fundraiser
After a week, Team Sunbeamer's "Bid Me Foxy" is doing well, having raised 8500 Lindens so far. It's just been joined by another "Bid Me" Fundraiser, "Bid Shockwave Goat."
With Cynthia Farshore, who has always been known by her anthro nannygoat avatar, going canid for a while with "Bid Me Foxy," her teammate Shockwave Yareach is joining her with a "Bid Me" that turns things full circle. In "Bid Shockwave Goat," the Sunbeamer who is seldom seen without his anthro wolf avatar, promises to be an anthro buck goat for every week each 2000 Linden dollars, rounded down are raised. This means if 5999 Lindens are raised, he spends two weeks in his new look while 6000 would mean tin can jokes for three. And as with other Sunbeamer Bid Me events, there's a default kiosk for those wanting him to keep his usual look. If it gets more cash than the goat kiosk, he stays a wolf.
As of the writing of this article, 3000 Linden dollars have been raised. Meaning without lots of cash in the default kiosk, he'll be hooved for at least one week. How many more "bucks" the goat fundraiser gets remains to be seen.
Both Cynthia's "Bid Me Foxy" and the "Bid Shockwave Goat" run until Friday June 15 at 8PM, following the close of the party contest at Club Cutlass where the kiosks are. As of the writing of this article, Team Sunbeamers have raised a little more than 397,000 Linden dollars. With the upcoming "Club Crawl" and Sunbeamer Air Show, 500,000 Lindens and Sapphire level fundraiser status are within sight.

"Your Mother Has Cancer"
Deaflegacy told be recently it was her mother's birthday. It was a happy occasion in the past, but today it was a sad reminder as she had passed away almost five years ago, from cancer. In her article today, she writes about her last time with her mother, and goes on to say the cause of her death is why she supports the Relay for Life in Second Life.

My Time At Second Life Newspaper (2015)
As the Newser celebrates it's eighth anniversary, it should be noted our roots go back to another publication. Before the SL Newser, there was the SL Newspaper. Founded by JamesT Juno, it blossomed into Second Life's leading newsletter under editor Dana Vanmoer. About a year into the paper's history, I joined up with them. For the next two and a half years, I would be one of it's reporters, and eventually assistant manager. In this article written five years following it's closing, I looked back on my time at the "Gray Lady" of Second Life newsletters.

Looking Back: The Podex Exchange
As the Newser looks back in it's eight years of covering the news, we take a look at the first and longest-running of the cash sponsors who helped us along the way: The Podex Exchange. Owned by Jacek Shuftan, this Linden dollar exchanger bought and sold Lindens for various real-life currencies, many residents finding them much more convenient than the official Lindex. Unfortunately, changes in Linden Lab's Terms of Service would put them out of business.

Eight Years of the Second Life Newser
It was eight years ago that Second Life's best newsletter at the time came to a close, and a new one started. JamesT Juno had started the SL Newspaper three and a half years ago, turning it into a respectable blog, and under Dana Vanmoer as editor it blossomed into a true online newspaper. But events in their real lives became to big to ignore, and Dana made the decision to close the Second Life Newspaper. Four of the reporters, Gemma Cleanslate, Grey Lupindo, Shelly Sands, and myself, made a decision of our own, to start a new paper: the Second Life Newser. And as Dana wrote the Newspaper's final message, the Newser posted it's first article on Saturday June 5, 2010.
Our first few days, we were more than a little scared and uncertain. Were we up to the task? But it wasn't long before there was serious news to report on, with Linden Lab laying off nearly a third of their staff. Soon after, CEO at the time whom was disliked by many of the residents stepped down, leading to some impromptu celebrations, and Philip Rosedale would step up as interum CEO for several months. Then "Emeraldgate" hit the most popular third-party viewer at the time, followed soon by it's development team splitting in two, some founding Team Phoenix, which would develop what would become the most popular viewer while a few of team Emerald were banned from the Grid. Then Linden Lab made the decision to close the Teen Grid and merge the older teens with the rest of the population while the younger ones were left out in the cold and some older residents feared this would lead to widespread censoring and possibly legal troubles. Early 2011 would bring in still more big news, such as Linden Lab's new CEO, and the Redzone controversy in which the alt-detector raised privacy fears and was finally taken down and it's creator banned when it was revealed he was on probation for a criminal offense and shouldn't have been online.
In our first few days, our readership was tiny as most of James and Dana's audience had moved on. But as time went on and we proved ourselves up to the task, people began reading. We soon had our own office, courtesy of the Sunweaver/Angel community. And we soon had our first cash sponsor, the Podex Exchange, followed soon by the Steelhead community. And of course we had the praise of residents who saw in us an alternative to tabloids that concentrated on drama and "SLebreties," and fashion blogs that while highly useful to those looking for the latest outfits were of little to no use when looking for news about events, locations, and noted people. We like to show you where you can get a great deal or a very well crafted outfit, when we can. But there's a lot more news going on that affects your Second Life.
Over time, we've continued our mission, to report the news on the people, places, and events across the Grid, big and small. These have ranged from charities, such as the Relay for Life, various builds and builders, art exhibitions and artwork, various events such as the Second Life Birthday, various locations, games such as combat sims, and much more. While we have occasionally taken a look at the adult side of Second Life, most of our articles are about other subjects.
The bulk of what we have shown is how Second Life can be an enjoyable and beneficial place for it's residents. We've show many picturesque and well designed places from replicas of historic places, art displays, natural scenery, and more. We've shown many communities and groups from roleplay groups, both fantasy and sci-fi, to discussions, or just simply having fun at a club. But there's more here than just recreation. There are science discussions for adult education, memorials and memorial events to honor those who passed away, and charity events that raise many thousands for various causes to help people. While the Relay for Life is the largest one, there are many others such as Homes For Our Troops and Team Diabetes. And of course we try to be entertaining as well, showing music videos various performers have done, as well as our screenshot cartoons.
But like real-life publications, not everything is good news. Occasionally, we do report on controversy, such as Redzone, Voodoo, and more recently when someone tricked supporters of a diabetes charity into giving money to them. On occasion, Linden Lab has been the source of controversy, such as the Content Creator mess when a poorly worded change in the Terms of Service led to fears the Lab reserved the right to claim and sell the works of builders. The Newser has had neither the desire or the need to stir up unnecessary controversy or sensationalism. Eventually, real trouble shows up on it's own.
As the creators and owners of Second Life, Linden Lab is the source of much of our news. There's certainly no argument that they've done a great and fantastic theme in making our virtual world possible. But being human, they sometimes make mistakes. And there have been times in which the residents couldn't help but wonder about their intentions. As an independent publication, we'll hold them in account when making a questionable move. But it is also our goal to report when they do something right. And the individual Lindens we've talked to over the years have been friendly people who are happy to interact with the residents.
As we've gone on in time, sadly we've had to say goodbye to some people and places. Shelie Sands, noted for her poetry and articles on the then popular Ozimal bunnies, and Grey Lupindo, noted for her exploration articles on many great places, eventually had to depart the Newser. Podex would be our sponsor for many years, and the subject of a number of amusing adverts, until changes in Linden Lab's Terms of Service for Second Life meant it could no longer do business here. And we've had the sad task of reporting on the end of some good places and the departures, and worse - the deaths, of some good people. But as time has gone on, the Newser has welcomed in new talent such as Klaus Bereznyak and Deaflegacy. We've gotten new sponsors, Farshore Radio, Lorena Chung, Montecito Bay, and recently the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. We've had the pleasure on reporting on some great new places and talented new residents whom have appeared in Second Life over time. And over time, our readership has grown, one month this year getting fifty thousand reads.
So after eight years, where do we go from here? The time in which we started was one in which Second Life's glory days as the darling of the tech media had come to an end, and it's future was in doubt. Since then, the demise of the virtual world has been predicted time and time again. But thanks in part to the devotion of it's residents, it has endured. It's safe to say unless there's some calamity such as an economic depression or a shutdown of the Internet, Second Life will be around for years to come. And us? As long as we're able to, we'll keep on writing about the people, places, and events of this virtual world that has continued to be a source of wonder.
Special thanks to our sponsors, Farshore Radio, Lorena Chung, Montecito Bay, and the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, to the Sunweaver community that have given us a home for all these years, to Linden Lab which brought forth this virtual world to begin with, to JamesT Juno and Dana Vanmoer for showing us how a virtual newsletter is done, and of course to you the readers without whom the Newser would never have gotten off the ground.

DJ Aurora's RFL Jail and Bail
When I logged in on Wednesday May 30, on the last day of my Jade Avatar Challenge, I heard one Relayer mention in group chat, "So Aurora is in trouble again.. As usual." I took a look at the Relay notices, and found one sent by a Aurora Vastranad (Stytchwytch Resident):
Can you please help meowt?
I have a 10K bail on my head from 6-8
But it was so fun to be so bad.
Last month it was only 5K on my head.
pweeeze help meowt so i can go back to my basket?
I can take remote donations or via IM i can Tp you here.
It is an adult themed location and i don't want to offend anyone.
Huggels and Nuzzles
There was a picture located, and checking out the location on it, I headed over. I soon found the naughty neko's cell, whose motto was "If you can't be good, be good at it." I chipped in a few Lindens to the jail and bail, and she thanked me with a little purring. Aurora would later tell me the jail and bail raised 5,000 Linden dollars.

Published Author Writes Novel of Crime and Mystery In a Virtual World
There have been some writers in Second Life getting their start here in hopes of getting published to a wider audience in real life. But recently someone whom was already a published writer came to Second Life, using the virtual world as an inspiration for a story aimed at such a wider audience. "Femme Fatale Online," written by Eugene Rodgers, takes place partially in a virtual world, in which a man has to find out who is blackmailing him, or risk losing his marriage, his job, and possibly his life. I had a few words with Rodgers as his avatar Isaac, and he talked about his novel, as well as his time in Second Life.

Inauguration of the New Chancellor at the CDS
On Friday June 1, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators saw a transfer of power as the leader for the previous six months stepped down, and the new one took the oath of office. This was the day of Hannah Marie Tempestwolf's (Han Held) inauguration as the new Chancellor. In last month's election, Hannah had been declared the winner. Incumbent leader Rosie Gray had declined to run again for the office, choosing instead a seat in the Representative Assembly.
I dropped in shortly before the scheduled start at the Ampitheatre in Colonia Nova at 1PM SL time. Of the comments about swearing in the new leader, Lilith Ivory, the CDS Dean, whom is German, remarked, "Not having English as my first language I always have to giggle about the different meanings of swear (smile)." After a few minutes, the Chancellor-elect arrived. In contrast to the informal outfit I'd seen her in when I talked to her about the upcoming CDS election, Hannah was wearing a purplish dress. "All dressed up too!" Rosie commented, "Nice gown," someone added.
Lilith stepped forward, "It´s a honor for me to be here today to swear in another Chancellor of (the) CDS (smile)." Looking to Hannah, "Let me pass you the oath Han, and please insert your name and post it in public chat." After Lilith did, Hanna texted the oath, "I, Hannah Marie Tempestwolf, AKA Han Held; having been elected Chancellor of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, do solemnly affirm that I will faithfully discharge my duties as such to the best of my ability, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, and that I will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Confederation of Democratic Simulators."What followed was numerous cheers and applause. Lilith spoke, "Thank you Han for serving our community as Chancellor this term ... and may this be the last time during your term you feel the need to swear in public (smile)." "Thank you, Madame Dean," Hannah smiled back. Then she looked to the audience, "And thank you everyone from SL's oldest, perhaps ONLY, citizen run estate, for giving me the chance to serve y'all."
Kyoko (Samara Barzane) commented from the seats, "Do we drink now?" Lilith remarked, "We should!" Hannah joked, "Trust me, by the time my term is over everyone's gonna be driven to drinking (grin)." She would go on to say, "Thank you Bellimora and Ernie, my Mere Secundus /Funadama neighbors for coming down. And thank you to my SL parents; Sensual and Gregori. It means a LOT that you're here today (smile)."
The Inaugural Ball is this upcoming Saturday June 9 at 2PM at Neufrestadt Schloss.

SL Video: "Our Digital Selves: My Avatar Is Me"
(Click here if the video fails to play)
From Draxtor Despress on May 17, "'Our Digital Selves: My Avatar is me!' tells the story of 13 global citizens and their avatars as they transcend their various disabilities through artistic expression and making a home for themselves in the VR Metaverse. The film follows researchers Tom Boellstorff and Donna Davis as they facilitate deep connections between real human beings in virtuality by giving away digital land to build anything the participants of this project can dream up. As Boellstorff and Davis finish up their 3-year study made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation [entitled 'Virtual Worlds, Disability and New Cultures of the Embodied Self'], the film provides a window into a world of seemingly unlimited possibilities for borderless human interaction, irrespective of physical location and or ability. 'Our Digital Selves' weaves together physical and virtual cinematography as the protagonists’ backstories are re-enacted via Machinima. The film will is available for free on YouTube and as a download for qualifying institutions at http://ourdigitalselves.com/documentary "
Contact Drax at draxtor.com for more information

Virtual Ability would publish three interviews of people in the video. Alice Krueger would interview Tom Boellstorff and Donna Davis. Gentle Heron would talk to iSkye Silverweb and Slatan Dryke in her interview article.

Cartoon of the Day
Taken at the Happy Vixen. The Confederate flag, as I wrote in the past, has different meanings to different people. Although the flag itself is hard to find on Marketplace, you can still find items such as rebel flag bikinis there. And that item tends to bring out a different kind of emotion than the banner.

Remembering Fimi
Saturday May 26 was the tenth anniversary of the passing of a noted member of the Sunweaver community, as well as the Passionate Redheads Relay for Life team: Artistic Fimicloud. Known as "Fimi" to her friends, she is still fondly remember. The party at Club Cutlass that evening was in her honor, the theme being "Pink For Fimi."
Many of the women, and a couple of the men, wore pink or partially pink outfits. Sabine Mcettigan, who ran the Readheads, was among those appearing at the party. DJ Snowbuns provided the music for the party. Among the songs was "Calypso," which was a favorite of Fimi.
There were a few items up for display, such as a Fimi Award given out by the Redheads, made in the image of a pink fox, Artistic being an anthro pink vixen. A little more about Fimi can be read in the article of the events in May 2017. Although she's been gone for years, and the Redheads folded, the Sunbeamer taking it's place, she is still fondly remembered.

Raglan Shire Art Walk Does it Again
After a short break due to real-life, Klaus Bereznyak is back on the scene. Hearing about the ArtWalk in the Raglan Shire community, he decided to pay it a visit. This event attracts artists not just from the local tinies, whom have some talented folk in their own right, but from all over Second Life. There's quite a bit of photography, paintings, sculptures, and more.

Team Sunbeamer's "Bid Me Foxy"
With the first round of "Bid Me" events by Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers raising over 53,000 Lindens, it was just a mater of time before someone else stepped up to put their looks on the line. Someone did, and once again, there's a pair of "Bid Me" kiosks at Club Cutlass. The volunteer is someone taking part in a "Bid Me" for the first time: Cynthia Farshore.
"Having been a goat my entire SL life," Cynthia told the Newser readers, "I challenge you to change me. Recently Liska changed to goat much like me now you get the chance to make me like her, a Red Fox! L$2000 gets me fox for one week."So it seems Liska's "Bid Me Goat" has taken things full circle with Cynthia offering to make herself the same type of fox avatar Liska has been. As the picture shows, the bidding has already started. So how long will Cynthia be without her horns and hooves and have a taste for chicken? That depends on how much is donated, and if it's more than the default kiosk which if it gets the most means she stays as she is.
In the meantime, the team total continues to go up, closing in on the 400,000 Linden dollar mark. This is four-fifths on the way to Sapphire rank, which Team Sunbeamer has never before reached but stands a good chance of doing so this year. One member has pledged to go purple for a week if this happens.
